C Tristan Thompson, playing for the first time since Nov. 1 because of a strained left calf, played six minutes -- all in the first quarter. He didn't score or grab a rebound, and was not on the bench for the second half. Lue said before the game that Thompson's minutes would be restricted. "We wanted to give him a six- or seven-minute burn in that first quarter," Lue said. "Then in the second half it was already the game plan that he wasn't playing in the second half. Wasn't able to work him back in in that second quarter."

G J.R. Smith set a season high with eight assists for Cleveland.

F Harrison Barnes led the Mavs with 17 points in a win over the Spurs on Tuesday.

G Jose Calderon hit four 3-pointers of Cleveland's season-high 20 3-pointers in a 123-114 win over Atlanta. His 14 points tied a season high. "It's a tried and true formula," Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer said. "You have a great player and you put 3-point shooting around him and it makes it tough. They had even more 3-point shooting tonight. LeBron (James) is obviously a great facilitator and a great passer (17 assists). They made the plays, not just him."

F Dirk Nowitzki moved five rebounds away from passing Bill Bridges (11,054) for 28th on the league's all-time list. He finished with six points and two boards in a win over the Spurs on Tuesday.

F Kawhi Leonard shined in his season debut (13 points, six rebounds in 16 minutes), but the Spurs lost after he exited in the third quarter.Leonard missed the first 27 games of the season because of a quad injury. Upon returning to the starting lineup, he quickly displayed his all-around excellence, shooting 6-for-12 and adding one assist, one steal and one block. Coach Gregg Popovich stuck with the plan of a gradual reintroduction. Leonard made his way to the locker room toward the end of the third quarter, raising a few eyebrows, but his early exit from the floor apparently was for planned treatment.

"We're in a good rhythm right now," said James, whose .894 field-goal percentage (11 of 13 shooting) was the third highest of his career. "We know what we want to run, we know where guys are going to be out on the floor, we kind of know how defenses have been playing us as of late and guys are moving and sharing the ball extremely well. When the ball is moving, energy is behind it and guys are in rhythm."

C Cody Zeller underwent surgery to repair a torn medial meniscus in his left knee, the Charlotte Hornets announced Tuesday. The team said Zeller's surgery was "successful" and that he will remain out indefinitely. Updates on Zeller's condition will be provided by the Hornets when they become available, per the team. Zeller was averaging 7.2 points and 5.5 rebounds through 19 games this season for Charlotte.

G Tony Allen of the New Orleans Pelicans will be sidelined three to four weeks because of a nondisplaced left proximal fibula fracture. Allen, who turns 36 next month, left Sunday's game after just one minute on the floor, and he did not play Monday against the Houston Rockets. His injury is to the lower leg, near the ankle. Known primarily for his defensive prowess, Allen's playing time has been reduced to just 12.4 minutes per game this season, and he is averaging just 4.7 points.

SF Kawhi Leonard will be on a minutes restriction when he makes his season debut on Tuesday night against the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center, San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. Popovich said he plans to be cautious with the 26-year-old Leonard, who has been sidelined with quadriceps tendinopathy. "Any team would like to have one of their best players back. That's fairly logical," Popovich said. "The team's been playing well. We hope that it'll continue as Tony (Parker) and Kawhi get more minutes. There will be adjustments all the way around. Minutes will be different for different players. Just typical, it's not that complicated." Leonard recorded career highs in points (25.5) and assists (3.5) last season, while also notching 5.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. He was voted first team All-NBA and named first team All-Defense.

F Draymond Green (sore right shoulder) did not play Monday against the Blazers. The ailment is not believed to be serious, coach Steve Kerr said.

F Darius Miller started in place of Anthony Davis, who is day-to-day with an injury that kept him out for a third game. Miller scored 10 points.

PF Anthony Davis was sidelined by a left adductor strain, an injury sustained earlier this month.

PG Kyrie Irving was ruled out for Monday night's game against the Chicago Bulls because of a left quad contusion. Irving scored 16 points on 4-of-12 shooting on Sunday, playing 34 minutes against the Pistons. He came out of the game in the first quarter and was spotted removing his left shoe and stretching out his leg during a timeout, according to ESPN.

F Danilo Gallinari, after playing 36 minutes Saturday in his second game back from a strained glute, was ruled out of the Monday game with the same issue, although coach Doc Rivers called it an entirely new glute injury.

F Serge Ibaka, coming off back-to-back 20-point games for the first time this season, scored 17 points Monday against the Clippers.

G Kyle Lowry scored 14 points Monday, but he shot 0-for-8 from 3-point range in the Raptors' road loss to the Clippers.

C DeAndre Jordan finished with 14 points and 17 rebounds, the final one a controlled tap on a missed free throw by teammate Sam Dekker with just over three seconds remaining that helped preserve the victory over Toronto on Monday.
