Tue Jun 27 202310:07Derrick Rose Linked With Bulls Reunion
Veteran guard Derrick Rose could return home this summer in free agency, with NBA insider Marc Stein reporting that the Chicago Bulls are among teams that have interest in the 34-year-old. Chicago-born Rose starred for the Bulls at the start of his career, earning three NBA All-Star selections and the 2011 MVP award. According to Stein, the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns also have an interest in Rose. Additionally, Stein says that a return to the Knicks isn't out of the question. The Knicks declined to pick up their $15.6 million option on Rose for next season, but they may re-sign him on a cheaper deal if other options don't work out.

Sat Jun 24 202323:07Derrick Rose Will Become A Free Agent
The Knicks will not pick up the $15.6 million team option on guard Derrick Rose. He'll now be free to explore new opportunities, and at least a handful of teams will likely express interest. Rose has averaged 17.7 points and 5.3 assists in 699 regular season games. He also has several accomplishments on his resume outside of three All-Star appearances, including Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player awards. Unfortunately, injuries derailed his career as an elite performer, and while he may play a few more years, his days as a routine fantasy contributor are probably well in the past.

Thu May 25 202320:15Derrick Rose Likely To Become Free Agent
New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose is most likely going to become a free agent this summer. The veteran guard has a $15.6 million team option for the 2023-2024 campaign. That is quite a lot of money for a player that the Knicks rarely used last season. Rose averaged 5.6 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 12.5 minutes per game through 27 games this past season. The Knicks have good young guards in Jalen Brunson, RJ Barrett, and Immanuel Quickley. That doesn't leave many minutes for any other guards, so it's hard to imagine they'd pay Rose over $15 million to play a minimal role off the bench. It's unknown what the 34-year-old still has left in the tank. He could probably still play a minimal role as a veteran backup, but it'd have to be on a much cheaper deal.

Thu Apr 6 202310:48Time To Hang It Up: Five NBA Players That Should Retire After The Season
Basketball is a fast-paced game. While the court's dimensions are smaller than baseball and football fields, there is no room to relax because players must exert effort on offense and defense. NBA's Advanced Stats reveal that LaMelo Ball trumps other ballers in the distance covered, averaging 2.77 miles per game. Fred VanVleet is not far behind at 2.76.Therefore, basketball players must be in good condition to render significant minutes. Conversely, injuries are also a dime a dozen because of the extensive regular season. Failing to stay in shape could mean reduced playing time or an abrupt end to their career. But at some point, Father Time wins, no matter how much a player wants to delay the inevitable. These players have rendered extensive NBA careers but are far from the peak of their capabilities. Sadly, retirement after the 2022-23 season is a strong possibility because they are not steady contributors anymore or hardly step into the court. However, their younger teammates should pick their brains and learn from their limitless wisdom.

Thaddeus Young

Young won the NBA Hustle Award during the 2020-21 season thanks to his accumulated hustle stats like taking screens and diving for loose balls. But that recognition is a nice consolation for a man who nearly averaged a double-double (15.1 points, nine rebounds) for the 2015-16 season with the Brooklyn Nets.https://twitter.com/ClutchPointsApp/status/1612227070108516355The 16-year veteran has been touted as a do-it-all player on both ends. Unfortunately, his production has significantly dropped in his second season with the Toronto Raptors. He is averaging only 4.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game through March 11. He hasn't played since, even if he is on the active roster, because of ... [More]

Wed Jan 4 202317:59Derrick Rose To Be "Situational" On Wednesday
New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose (knee) will be available on a "situational" basis Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs, according to head coach Tom Thibodeau. Essentially, Rose will only play if the guards ahead of him get into foul trouble or have to leave the game. Rose has been mostly out of the rotation and is not a recommended fantasy option.

Fri Nov 25 202218:09Derrick Rose Sitting Again On Friday Evening
New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose (foot) won't play against Portland. The veteran will miss his second consecutive game on Friday night while dealing with a sore right foot (and a sore right toe). Cam Reddish (groin) is also out, so Quentin Grimes and Immanuel Quickley should provide value for managers in all formats.

Thu Nov 24 202216:27Derrick Rose Considered Questionable
New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose (toe) is listed as questionable for Friday's meeting with the Trail Blazers. He sat out Monday's with over the Thunder with a sore right toe, but could now return to action against Portland after going through most of Wednesday's practice session. The veteran will provide some backcourt depth for the Knicks. In fantasy hoops, the former MVP sadly doesn't really carry any value these days and his place is on the waiver wire.

Mon Nov 21 202218:46Derrick Rose, Cam Reddish Out On Monday
New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose (toe) and forward Cam Reddish (groin) have been ruled out for Monday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The absence of Rose will mean more playing time for Immanuel Quickley and Miles McBride. Between the two, Quickley is the better streaming option for Monday's slate. Reddish will miss his second straight game due to groin soreness. Quentin Grimes filled in nicely for Reddish during their last game. Fantasy managers looking for a streaming option on Monday should see if Grimes is available.

Mon Nov 21 202214:21Derrick Rose Listed As Questionable For Monday
New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose (toe) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The veteran guard exited after only eight minutes on Sunday due to soreness in his big right toe. It's the second game of a back-to-back set, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Rose sit this one out. Quentin Grimes and Immanuel Quickley could be asked to play bigger roles if Rose is forced to sit out. Grimes is an interesting streaming option if given extended playing time.

Sat Aug 20 202222:12Derrick Rose Likely To Be Ready For Training Camp
New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose (ankle) is expected to be ready for training camp. The veteran underwent multiple ankle surgeries last season, relegating him to 26 games. With Jalen Brunson on the roster, Rose is anticipated to be his primary backup. Although the 33-year-old is far past his prime, he should have more than a few impactful fantasy performances left in the tank. However, he'll need Brunson to miss time before earning meaningful work.

Mon Aug 8 202213:28Knicks Unwilling To Trade Derrick Rose
New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose is unlikely to get moved this offseason. The Knicks have been in trade discussions with the Utah Jazz. New York is reportedly attempting to get Donovan Mitchell, but have made it known that Rose is unavailable in trade talks. Rose is a long-time favorite of head coach Tom Thibodeau, so it's unlikely that the team moves Rose in any deals. The Knicks also want to keep some of their younger talent such as Quentin Grimes. Honestly, it's uncertain who the Knicks are willing to move, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect Mitchell to be in New York. However, Rose should be able to be a fantasy contributor with the Knicks, assuming he can stay healthy.

Tue Mar 29 202214:52Derrick Rose Unlikely To Return This Season
New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose (ankle) might not be able to get his conditioning right before the end of the season. He hasn't started taking contact and the veteran guard has been sidelined over three months. There have been reports of Rose ramping up his activities, but it doesn't sound like he's nearing a return. Immanuel Quickley, Alec Burks, and Quentin Grimes will continue to have solid roles in the rotation with Rose sidelined. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect to see Rose again this season.

Fri Feb 25 202220:56Derrick Rose Could Return In 1-2 Weeks
New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose (ankle) could return in one to two weeks after undergoing a minor procedure on his surgically repaired right ankle from December. Rose could make his return to the lineup when the Knicks go on the road for a west coast trip in the early part of March, so fantasy managers can stash the veteran point guard on their injured list with his absence expected to be minimal. With the Knicks agreeing to shut down point guard Kemba Walker for the remainder of the season, guards Alec Burks and Immanuel Quickley will benefit the most across all fantasy formats until Rose makes his return.

Fri Feb 25 202214:49Derrick Rose Remains Without A Timetable
New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose (ankle) will have a minor procedure and remains without a timetable to return. It's a shame because Rose seemed so close to getting back on the court. Now, the veteran guard is likely to miss at least a few more weeks. Alec Burks should remain the starting point guard, while Immanuel Quickley serves as the backup. Kemba Walker has been shut down for the season, so Rose should have a role once he does return to the court. Although, fantasy managers will likely have to wait a few more weeks before we see Rose again.

Thu Feb 24 202221:21Derrick Rose Tagged As Doubtful For Friday
New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Friday's game against the Miami Heat. Rose was able to practice on Thursday, so it sounds like the veteran guard is getting closer to a return. Despite that, it sounds like Rose is set to miss at least one more game. Alec Burks should remain the starting point guard with Kemba Walker shut down for the remainder of the regular season. Immanuel Quickley could see more minutes off the bench, but hasn't been much of a fantasy asset. Rose should have deep league value once he returns, but it's unlikely he does enough to warrant rostering in standard formats.

Thu Feb 24 202214:45Derrick Rose Continues To Make Progress
New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose (ankle) was able to practice without any issues on Thursday. In fact, this was the second time that Rose was able to practice with contact. He might even be able to suit up for Friday's game against the Miami Heat. Alec Burks has been starting at point guard and it might remain that way. Although, Kemba Walker has been shut down for the season, so Rose should have a sizable role off the bench. Rose is worth monitoring in fantasy formats, but isn't a must-have player.

Wed Feb 16 202218:28Derrick Rose Not Cleared For Contact
New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose (ankle) has not been cleared for contact, according to head coach Tom Thibodeau. Rose has been making progress, but hasn't been cleared for contact yet. He's obviously going to be sidelined until the All-Star break, but hopefully he can return shortly after that. Rose wasn't a great fantasy asset before the injury, so he's not worth stashing in most formats. Until his return, Alec Burks and Kemba Walker will continue to see increased roles.

Sun Jan 30 202217:14Derrick Rose To Return Shortly After All-Star Break
New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose (ankle) is hopeful to return shortly after the All-Star break. He hasn't played since before Christmas, but is making progress towards a return. He shouldn't have any problems finding playing time off the bench. Kemba Walker and Immanuel Quickley are his main competition for playing time. Alec Burks should still have a role, but won't handle the ball as much anymore. Fantasy managers who have an open IR spot might want to consider stashing Rose.

Wed Dec 22 202119:55Derrick Rose Will Be Sidelined For At Least Eight Weeks
New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose (ankle) underwent surgery on his right ankle Wednesday, with the team announcing that he will next be reevaluated in eight weeks. Rose had missed New York's two previous games due to the ailment, having recently entered the starting five. The absence of Rose deals a significant blow to the Knicks' backcourt rotation, although veteran Kemba Walker can now be seen as a potential waiver wire acquisition in most formats as the team combats additional injuries and the league's health and safety protocols. Injuries have long stunted Rose's professional progress, as he has averaged 12 points, four assists, and three rebounds across 26 contests this year. He can be dropped in most season-long formats, as a second-half return to action makes him a difficult hold barring numerous IR slots.
