Wed Jan 15 201412:23Joel Anthony to Boston in three-team deal
The Heat traded Joel Anthony and two draft picks to the Celtics on Wednesday, getting back PG Toney Douglas from the Warriors in exchange.
Anthony was a staple of trade chatter for the Heat, which makes sense since he's barely played for them all season. He has a $3.8 million player option for next season and the Celtics may give him some minutes to see what he has left in the tank, but he's not a viable fantasy option.

Fri Dec 6 201310:58Heat shopping Joel Anthony, looking for guard
It appears that the Miami Heat are looking for an additional guard to backup Dwayne Wade on his off days.
Wade's balky knees have already caused him to miss five-games so far this season, and Miami is looking for a serviceable backup to start when Wade is absent. Joel Anthony's name has popped up a lot on the trading block this season, however it's unclear who they will be able to get in return. Regardless of who they get, the Heat's rotation is locked up, and the new addition would likely not have any fantasy appeal.

Sun Sep 1 201310:22Joel Anthony OK w/ small role for Miami
Joel Anthony wasn't upset by his limited minutes in the playoffs last season, and he hopes to retire with the Heat.
"It's not an issue of whether you're going to play or get minutes, the most important thing is that we went out to win a championship," Anthony said. His role will likely dwindle further now that Greg Oden has signed with Miami, and there has been some speculation that the Heat will try to trade him (and his remaining $7.6 million over two years).

Sat Aug 3 201312:40Oden signing could put Anthony on trade block
Greg Oden's contract could mean Joel Anthony will be placed on the trade block.
Anthony was Miami's defacto center the past couple seasons, which isn't really meaningful considering the Heat don't really use their center a ton. Anthony was also a consideration for the Heat's amnesty provision before the team used it on Mike Miller. Anthony has a little less than $8 million due to him over the next two seasons, which would likely limit his trade value.

Thu Jul 11 201309:40Heat tempted to use amnesty on Joel Anthony
The Heat could be tempted to use their amnesty provision on Joel Anthony or Mike Miller.
Miami has a payroll of $87.3 million in guaranteed contracts and will have the second-highest tax payment should they keep their roster the same. However, if the team does amnesty Mike Miller, they will save about $17 million while an amnesty on Joel Anthony will save the team around $10 million.

Thu Jan 17 201301:47Anthony plays through ankle injury
Joel Anthony (ankle) played 13 minutes against the Warriors and had no points, five boards, one steal and two blocks on Wednesday.
He's playing just 10 minutes per game this year and the Heat have been comfortable using Chris Bosh and Udonis Haslem at the center spot. Anthony has no fantasy value.

Joel Anthony (ankle) is available to face the Warriors on Wednesday.
He sprained his ankle in Monday's game against the Jazz and didn't miss time with the injury. Anthony only plays 9.9 minutes per game and has no value in almost all fantasy leagues.

Wed Jan 16 201315:09Joel Anthony questionable with sprained ankle
Joel Anthony has a sprained ankle and is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Warriors.
Anthony doesn't really factor into the fantasy landscape, although if he's absent that should mean more minutes for Chris Bosh.

Joel Anthony (hamstring) returned to action on Saturday, going scoreless in seven minutes off the bench.
This is good news for Miami's depth chart, but it doesn't have fantasy repercussions.

Mon Oct 22 201208:40Report: Heat could look to trade Joel Anthony
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel speculates that Joel Anthony could be traded.
The Heat need to find a willing taker for Anthony's contract, but he provides nothing on offense and won't be doing much as the team looks to take advantage of its versatile lineup.

Wed Oct 17 201210:47Joel Anthony still nursing hamstring injury

It sounds like the issue is very minor at this point, but it's been a concern since training camp began. Regardless, Anthony won't have a role on any fantasy roster this year.

Tue Oct 2 201212:35Joel Anthony misses practice again Tuesday
Joel Anthony (hamstring) missed his third consecutive day of training camp on Tuesday.
Anthony is nursing a "slight" hamstring pull, and although the injury doesn't sound serious, the Heat won't risk any major aggravations this early in training camp. With Chris Bosh sliding into a full-time role at center, Anthony isn't on the fantasy radar.

Sun Sep 30 201213:46Joel Anthony out w/ slight hamstring pull
Joel Anthony sat out Miami's practice on Sunday with a slight hamstring pull.
The injury doesn't sounds serious, and we're considering Anthony day-to-day until further notice. He'll need to have a strong camp to make the regular season rotation as a backup center, as Chris Bosh has taken over full-time starting C duties.

Mon Sep 10 201208:21Heat C Joel Anthony could be on trade block
Beat writer Ira Winderman "wouldn't be surprised if the Heat were angling" to trade Joel Anthony.
As Winderman notes, the team's "position-less small-ball approach" minimizes the definitive need for Anthony. The defensive-minded center is owed $3.8 million in each of the next two seasons, so it's not going to be like there will be a long list of teams lining up in an attempt to acquire him.

Thu Jun 7 201210:39Spoelstra explains Anthony benching in Game 5
Erik Spoelstra said that Joel Anthony sat for "situational" reasons in Game 5.
Anthony didn't even get off the bench and may not play in Game 6 either. Miami's center position has been a black hole and Anthony isn't going to solve that problem.

Sun Jun 3 201220:34Joel Anthony replaces Turiaf as starting C
Joel Anthony is starting at center for the Heat on Sunday, replacing Ronny Turiaf.
Anthony is Miami's fourth different starting center of the postseason, joining Chris Bosh, Dexter Pittman and Turiaf.

Wed Apr 18 201211:15Joel Anthony good to go vs. Raptors Wednesday
Joel Anthony (ankle) will play on Wednesday against the Raptors.
Anthony could find himself in the starting lineup with both Chris Bosh (rest) and Ronny Turiaf (hamstring) out. Regardless, Anthony is a low-end play for owners in deeper formats who need a boost in the blocks department.

Tue Apr 17 201202:33Anthony ankle X-rays negative on Monday
Joel Anthony apparently suffered an ankle injury during Monday's game, but X-rays taken were negative and the injury doesn't appear to be serious.
We're going to put him on the injury report in advance of Wednesday's game against the Raptors, but we have no report to suggest that he won't play. Anthony scored eight points with five boards, one steal, and two blocks, and is only worth watching for blocks if you're trolling that category.
