Fri Jan 7 202217:41Danny Green To Play Against Visiting Spurs
Philadelphia 76ers forward Danny Green (calf) will play against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday. The veteran had been riding a questionable tag because of left calf soreness, but he will now have a chance to make amends for his dreadful performances over the last two games. It's obvious Green's best days are behind him. Yet, the 34-year-old has some gas left in the tank, and he has more DFS upside than others with a similar rostering cost. However, he still remains a risky option in all fantasy formats against his former team.

Wed Dec 22 202121:08Danny Green Lands In COVID-19 Health And Safety Protocols
Philadelphia 76ers small forward Danny Green has been placed in the league's COVID-19 health and safety protocols, ruling him out for Thursday's contest against Atlanta. The timing couldn't be worse for Green, who logged 40 minutes in each of his last two games. The absence of the team's sharpshooter is likely to pave the way for Furkan Korkmaz to take on a larger offensive role, while Matisse Thybulle could see a few additional minutes funneled in his direction. As of late, Green has become nearly wholly dependent on the deep ball, with 44 of his last 48 shots over the past eight games coming from behind the arc. His next chance to return to action comes Sunday vs. the Wizards if he can clear the protocols in time.

Mon Dec 20 202114:10Tyrese Maxey, Danny Green Questionable To Play Monday
Philadelphia 76ers point guard Tyrese Maxey (quad) and small forward Danny Green (hip) have been designated as questionable to suit up for Monday's contest against the Celtics. Maxey missed the team's most recent outing due to a left quad contusion, allowing Shake Milton to slot in at the starting PG spot; Green played a season-high 40 minutes in that outing, but he was limited to just eight points on seven shots. Seth Curry would stand to have elevated DFS value Monday should either of the duo be absent. Check back to get the final word on Maxey and Green's status, as absences to Milton (health and safety protocols) and Furkan Korkmaz (illness) have already left Philly thin on the wing and in the backcourt.

Fri Nov 19 202120:29Danny Green To Miss Third Straight Game
Philadelphia 76ers forward Danny Green (hamstring) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. This marks the third game in a row that Green has missed due to a hamstring issue. These types of problems have a tendency to linger, so fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if Green misses more time. Georges Niang and Shake Milton have been benefiting in the loss of Green. Neither have been reliable fantasy options, but could be low-end DFS options for Saturday's slate.

Wed Nov 17 202121:04Matisse Thybulle, Danny Green Remain Out For Thursday
Philadelphia 76ers small forwards Matisse Thybulleand Danny Green (hamstring) have been ruled out for Thursday's game against Denver. Thybulle's absence will mark his seventh straight contest missed as he remains in the league's health and safety protocols, while a balky hamstring has popped up again for Green. Shake Milton drew the start without either man available Tuesday and led the team with 19 shot attempts, while Furkan Korkmaz and Isaiah Joe both saw sizable minutes bumps and logged double-digit shots in their own right. The next chance for the Sixers to get back either Thybulle or Green comes Saturday against the Trail Blazers.

Mon Nov 15 202120:10Danny Green Will Miss Tuesday’s Contest
Philadelphia 76ers small forward Danny Green (hamstring) has been preemptively ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Jazz due to recurrent hamstring tightness. Green previously missed three contests this month with the issue, which allowed Furkan Korkmaz to take on an elevated offensive role. Even when healthy, Green has primarily been utilized as a three-point weapon for the Sixers this season, with 55 of his 62 shots (88.7%) coming from behind the arc. While the 34-year-old is knocking down triples at a 41.8% clip, he has averaged just 7.5 points per contest. His next chance at suiting up comes Thursday vs. Denver.

Mon Nov 15 202117:33Danny Green Sits Out Of Monday's Practice
Philadelphia 76ers forward Danny Green (hamstring) did not practice on Monday. The veteran forward should be considered questionable for Tuesday's game against the Utah Jazz. Sadly, hamstring injuries have a tendency to linger, so Green could very well miss a few more games. His absence would likely mean Furkan Korkmaz stays in the starting five. He has some streaming appeal for Tuesday, assuming Green is out. Fantasy managers should check back for another update on Tuesday.

Mon Nov 8 202118:23Danny Green Will Play Monday
Philadelphia 76ers forward Danny Green (hamstring) will play during Monday's game against the New York Knicks. Green is back in action after missing the last three games due to a left hamstring issue. His return should push Furkan Korkmaz back to the bench. The Sixers are without Tobias Harris, Matisse Thybulle and Joel Embiid due to the league's health and safety rules. That means, both Green and Korkmaz should see more shots than normal. Both have low-end DFS appeal and could be worth looking at as streaming options with the Sixers shorthanded on Monday.

Mon Nov 8 202114:53Danny Green Participates In Shootaround
Philadelphia 76ers forward Danny Green (hamstring) was able to participate in shootaround on Monday. The veteran forward has a chance of returning for Monday's game against the New York Knicks. Fantasy managers shouldn't get too ahead of themselves, but Green will likely wait until after warmups before officially deciding. That being said, Green's return would mean less minutes and value for Shake Milton. There wouldn't be much streaming appeal for Milton with Green back in action.

Sun Nov 7 202118:00Danny Green Could Miss Monday's Game
Philadelphia 76ers forward Danny Green (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the New York Knicks. He has missed a few games while dealing with right hamstring tightness. There is a good chance that Green is sidelined for Monday's contest as well. His absence would mean more minutes for Shake Milton. Surprisingly, Milton has been playing well lately and could have some low-end fantasy appeal while Green is out.

Sat Nov 6 202118:53Danny Green Will Miss Saturday’s Contest
Philadelphia 76ers small forward Danny Green (hamstring) will have his absence continued Saturday against the Bulls due to a sore left hamstring. After starting the first seven games of the year, Green will now miss his third consecutive contest, leaving a sharpshooting void on the wing. With Green unavailable, Furkan Korkmaz and Georges Niang stand to see elevated roles. Despite averaging just 6.6 points per game to begin the season, Green is shooting 43.8 percent from behind the arc, making him a highly valued commodity in season-long category formats when healthy.

Mon Jun 21 202115:17Head games: Ben Simmons' future uncertain after playoff flop
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Ben Simmons backed his way to the basket, spun around Danilo Gallinari for the easy look at the net — an uncontested layup, a dunk — and he passed. Passed the ball. Passed on the shot. Passed on the chance to tie the game. Joel Embiid threw up his hands in disbelief. With a chance to tie Game 7 against Atlanta late in the fourth quarter, Simmons surrendered the chance to play postseason hero and fed the ball to Matisse Thybulle. “I just assumed Gallo was coming over my back,” Simmons said. Simmons thought Gallinari would try to foul him — much as the Hawks did throughout the seven-game series victory to reach the Eastern Conference finals — and going to the line in the clutch was a risk the All-Star guard was not willing to take. His free-throw shooting was the poison in the postseason that ultimately knocked out the top-seeded Sixers. Simmons shot 25-for-73 (34%) from the line in the playoffs and missed 27 alone against the Hawks. Unacceptable numbers for any player,... [More]

Sun Jun 13 202116:4476ers' Rivers seeks fill-in for injured Green against Hawks
ATLANTA (AP) — Doc Rivers isn't revealing his plan for replacing Danny Green in the Philadelphia 76ers' lineup. Rivers said Sunday “some of the unintended good consequences of having injuries during the regular season” are having options for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night. Green's injury is a big loss for Rivers, but the coach has a deep bench. Green is expected to miss at least two weeks after straining his right calf early Friday in a 127-111 win over the Hawks. The 76ers took a 2-1 lead in the series, putting Atlanta behind in a series for the first time in this postseason. Hawks coach Nate McMillan is trying to avoid putting added pressure on his players. “I think all games are must-wins,” McMillan said Sunday. “If we don’t get tomorrow night we still have another chance in Philly, but you want to take advantage of your home court.” Matisse Thybulle was Rivers' first choice to replace Green in Friday night's game. Thybulle... [More]
Tue Jun 1 202120:3176ers C Joel Embiid doubtful for Game 5 with knee injury
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid is doubtful for Game 5 because of a sore right knee. Embiid had an MRI on Tuesday and his status will be decided before Wednesday's game against the Washington Wizards, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press. The person spoke to the AP on Tuesday on condition of anonymity because the decision on his status was not made official. Embiid was listed as doubtful on the NBA injury report and Seth Curry (left ankle) and George Hill (left knee) are both probable. The Sixers lead the Wizards 3-1 in the first-round Eastern Conference series. Game 5 is in Philadelphia in front of an expected first full house of the season. Philadelphia was poised for its first sweep since 1985 before Embiid was hurt and the Wizards rallied to win behind 27 points from Bradley Beal. The NBA MVP finalist wound up on the floor behind the baseline after having his shot blocked by Washington’s Robin Lopez on a drive to the basket in the first... [More]
Wed May 26 202122:51Simmons leads 76ers past Wizards; Westbrook injured
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Ben Simmons put a spin move on Russell Westbrook that sent him sprawling to the floor several minutes before an ankle injury sent the NBA’s triple-double king to the locker room and nearly into the stands to confront a misbehaving fan. With Simmons soaring and Westbrook ailing, the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Washington Wizards 120-95 on Wednesday night to take a 2-0 lead in the first-round playoff series. Game 3 is Saturday night at Washington. Westbrook went down after colliding with Furkan Korkmaz early in the fourth quarter. He limped off the floor and then was restrained by security after a fan threw popcorn at him as he was headed under the tunnel. “We’ll see," Westbrook said about his availability for the next game. "Hurt it twice in a short amount of time. We’ll see what happens.” As for the incident with the fan, Westbrook said: “I wouldn’t come up to me on the street and throw popcorn on my head, because you know what happens. ... In these arenas, you gotta... [More]
Wed May 26 202121:42Simmons leads 76ers past Wizards; Westbrook injured
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Ben Simmons put a spin move on Russell Westbrook that sent him sprawling to the floor several minutes before a leg injury sent the NBA’s triple-double king to the locker room. With Simmons soaring and Westbrook ailing, the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Washington Wizards 120-95 on Wednesday night to take a 2-0 lead in their first-round playoff series. Game 3 is Saturday night at Washington. Westbrook went down after colliding with Furkan Korkmaz early in the fourth quarter. He limped off the floor and was restrained by security after a fan threw popcorn at him as he was headed under the tunnel. Simmons and Joel Embiid each scored 22 points and Tobias Harris added 19 for the top-seeded Sixers. Simmons added nine rebounds and eight assists after becoming just the sixth player in NBA history to have at least 15 rebounds and 15 assists in a playoff game in a 125-118 win in Game 1 The three-time All-Star still heard plenty of criticism in Philadelphia following that stellar... Sat Jan 9 202114:24Virus, injuries leave 76ers set to play with 7 players
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia 76ers are set to play Saturday without All-Stars Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid and will have the NBA minimum eight players active as the team deals with injuries and COVID-19 concerns. Sixers guard Seth Curry learned of a positive COVID-19 test while the team played Thursday in Brooklyn, forcing the team to spend an extra day in New York for additional testing. Coach Doc Rivers said before the game against Denver the Sixers will have seven players available and that injured forward Mike Scott will be active but not play. Rivers expressed concern the Sixers were even playing a game so short-handed and he worried about "our players' health on the floor.” The players available are: Danny Green, Dwight Howard, Tyrese Maxey, Tony Bradley, Isaiah Joe, Dakota Mathias and Paul Reed. Embiid, Simmons, Curry and Tobias Harris are the missing starters in the lineup. Rivers said Simmons has a left knee injury and Embiid is nursing a sore back. “Ben in the Brooklyn game had some knee stiffness,” Rivers said. “So we almost probably knew after the game that he wouldn’t play tonight. And then Joel started complaining about his back, that started yesterday. And we didn’t know if he was playing or not but honestly, with the minutes we would have to ask, it would be insane to play him tonight.” Nuggets coach Michael Malone said he needs to make sure his team would not "relax” against an opponent without its best players.
Tue Nov 24 202015:52Los Angeles Lakers sign veteran Spanish center Marc Gasol
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Lakers have signed veteran Spanish center Marc Gasol. The NBA champions confirmed the latest step in their roster reconfiguration Tuesday by announcing the addition of the 35-year-old Gasol, who spent the last 1 1/2 seasons with the Toronto Raptors and won a championship ring in 2019. The Lakers traded starting center JaVale McGee to Cleveland to make room under the salary cap to sign Gasol, who will be expected to provide his usual sturdy defense along with strong passing skills and 3-point shooting. Gasol struggled with injuries last season while scoring a career-low 7.5 points per game along with 6.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists. The Lakers still beat out several interested suitors for Gasol, whose NBA career is coming full circle as he joins the team that drafted him in 2007. Gasol will suit up for the Lakers nearly 13 years after the franchise acquired his older brother, Pau, by trading Marc's draft rights to the Memphis Grizzlies in February 2008 while... [More]
