Wed Jun 1 202222:49Gary Payton II Uncertain For Thursday Night
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II (elbow) could return for Thursday's NBA Finals showdown against the Celtics. During the series against the Memphis Grizzlies, the 29-year-old fractured his left elbow and hasn't been seen since. Head coach Steve Kerr did indicate Payton is moving in the right direction, although he couldn't commit to a definitive return date. Nonetheless, if the defensive specialist is cleared for Game 1, he could see some action. However, his DFS upside is limited.

Tue May 31 202220:59Gary Payton II Moving In The Right Direction
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II (elbow) may be available for the NBA Finals opener versus the Celtics. The defensive specialist hasn't played since injuring his elbow during the series against the Memphis Grizzlies. But head coach Steve Kerr recently indicated Payton is progressing, although it's too early to tell if he'll be ready on Thursday night. The 29-year-old has averaged 6.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists throughout his seven playoff appearances thus far. He isn't a consistent DFS producer by any means. However, Payton should get some work if he can suit up, putting him in play as a viable value option.

Thu May 26 202220:49Gary Payton II Remains Absent On Thursday
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II (elbow ) is out for the playoff meeting against Dallas on Thursday night. The defensive specialist hasn't played since injuring his elbow during the previous series versus the Memphis Grizzlies. However, an update on his status moving ahead should be coming over the next few days. Andre Iguodala (neck) and Otto Porter Jr. (foot) won't play either, so Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody, who combined for 27 points in Game 4, should draw interest from DFS managers looking for value.

Mon May 23 202220:50Gary Payton II Not Ready To Return
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II (elbow) won't play on Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks. Andre Iguodala (neck) remains out as well, and with Otto Porter Jr. (foot) uncertain for Game 4, the Dubs may be severely short-handed defensively. Fortunately, Payton appears to be moving in the right direction, although head coach Steve Kerr can't commit to a firm return date.

Sun May 22 202218:38Gary Payton II Remains Out On Sunday
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II (elbow) won't play on Sunday against the Dallas Mavericks. He's been out since suffering an elbow injury at the hands of Dillon Brooks during the previous series. However, there is some good news to report, as Payton is seemingly increasing his activity level. Nonetheless, until the 29-year-old can return, Otto Porter Jr. should continue to absorb most of his minutes.

Thu May 5 202210:43Gary Payton II To Miss Three Weeks
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II (elbow) is expected to miss at least three weeks of action. The Warriors have given Payton a three-to-five week timetable for his fractured elbow. Possibly, Payton is back in time for the Finals, assuming the Warriors make it that far. Although, there's a good chance that Payton's season is over. Jordan Poole is going to be the biggest beneficiary in the loss of Payton. He should see increased playing time and possibly more shots coming his way.

Wed May 4 202210:17Gary Payton II Diagnosed With Elbow Fracture
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II (elbow) was fouled hard by Memphis Grizzlies guard/forward Dillon Brooks during Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals on Tuesday. The incident led to Brooks being ejected from the game. After the game, it was announced that Payton had been diagnosed with a fractured left elbow. He is scheduled to have an MRI on Wednesday. This is rough news for the 29-year-old, who was averaging 15.9 minutes per game this postseason. The MRI will help determine the length of his absence, but it's safe to say that he won't be back on the court for at least the remainder of this current series. Damion Lee could see his minutes go up in the coming games with Payton out. We could also see the team go with some bigger lineups more frequently based on the team's current personnel.

Fri Mar 11 202221:44Gary Payton II Ruled Out For Matchup With Milwaukee
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II (knee) won't play on Saturday against the Milwaukee Bucks. The 29-year-old continues to be plagued by left knee soreness, an ailment that's held him out of the team's previous four contests. Without him, Moses Moody, who's averaged 10.6 points throughout nine starts this season, should continue to take his place in the lineup. Yet, Jonathan Kuminga and Jordan Poole may remain the primary beneficiaries from a fantasy standpoint.

Tue Mar 8 202217:55Gary Payton II, Otto Porter Jr. Ruled Out On Tuesday
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II (knee) and forward Otto Porter Jr. (illness) have been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. This marks the third game in a row that Payton has missed. Both Damion Lee and Jordan Poole will play more minutes with Payton sidelined. Poole is the better fantasy option between the two, but neither have great upside. Jonathan Kuminga could have some streaming appeal with Porter set to miss his second game in a row.

Thu Feb 24 202221:53Gary Payton II Will Start On Thursday
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II (leg) will remain in the starting five for Thursday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. He was listed as a game-time decision coming into this contest, but it sounds like Payton is fine. Fantasy managers should expect Payton to have his normal role in the rotation. Otto Porter Jr. and Jordan Poole will remain with the second unit with Payton available on Thursday.

Thu Feb 24 202220:56Gary Payton II Questionable For Thursday
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II (leg) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. This sounds like a downgrade as Payton has experienced some discomfort in his shin. Fantasy managers should consider Payton a legitimate game-time decision for Thursday's game. Either Otto Porter Jr. and Jordan Poole should move into the starting five, assuming Payton is out. Whoever gets the start could be worth a look as a streaming option on Thursday.

Wed Feb 16 202220:38Gary Payton II Moves Into Starting Five On Wednesday
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II will move into the starting five for Wednesday's game against the Denver Nuggets. Jonathan Kuminga has looked solid in the starting unit lately, so this move is a bit odd. Regardless, Payton will get the nod, but isn't much of a fantasy asset. It's unlikely that Payton does much with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson healthy. Kuminga won't have as much streaming appeal with the move to the second unit.

Thu Feb 3 202221:33Gary Payton II Not Listed On Injury Report
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II (shin) has been removed from the injury report heading into Thursday's game against the Sacramento Kings. He exited Tuesday's game due to a shin injury and wasn't able to return. However, it appears Payton is fine and will play on Thursday. He could have some deep league value, but won't have much upside outside of that. A majority of the starting unit is playing in this game, so Payton might not have a huge role.

Fri Dec 24 202109:46Gary Payton II Scores 22 Points In Second Start
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II contributed 22 points in Thursday's win over the Grizzlies, shooting 9-for-16 from the field and hitting four three-point bombs with seven attempts. His work also included two rebounds, one assist and one block in 33 minutes. Payton II made his second start of the season here and it looks like he has a big part to play on Saturday against the Suns. The 29-year-old is averaging 17 points on an amazing 63.6 percent three-point shooting in the starting unit this season.

Thu Dec 23 202120:53Otto Porter Jr., Gary Payton II Join Starting Five Thursday
Golden State Warriors small/power forward Otto Porter Jr. and point/shooting guard Gary Payton II are both in the starting lineup for Thursday's contest against the Grizzlies. Porter's start will be his first of the year, filling in with Andrew Wiggins (health and safety protocols) and Andre Iguodala (knee) unavailable. Porter's offensive rating has dipped considerably during seven December outings, but he still offers DFS upside with Golden State needing to find added scoring. Payton's start will be his second this year, taking over for Jordan Poole (health and safety protocols). Much like Porter, he boasts DFS appeal due to a perceived usage increase, while having combined for 25 points and five steals in his last two outings.

Sun Nov 21 202120:33Gary Payton II Out On Sunday
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II (hernia) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Toronto Raptors. He'll sit this one out since he is still recovering from a hernia issue. In the meantime, Damion Lee and Jonathan Kuminga will see more playing time on Sunday. Neither player is a great fantasy option, but might have some low-end streaming appeal in deep leagues. This is likely only a one game absence for Payton, so Lee and Kuminga should go back to their normal roles after this contest.

Sun Oct 10 202100:32Gary Payton II Will Be Available On Tuesday Night
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II (hernia) practiced on Saturday and will be available to play during the upcoming preseason outing against the Lakers. The 28-year-old has been working his way back from an inguinal hernia, so his availability for the exhibition in L.A. is good news concerning his chances of making the team. Still, even if Payton does make the active roster, he doesn't have much appeal from a fantasy standpoint, primarily with the Warriors' depth at every position. However, regarding his immediate future, he could get some meaningful work against Los Angeles on Tuesday night and should at least be considered an option for DFS contests.
