Thu Apr 13 202314:28Zach Collins Recovering From Surgery
San Antonio Spurs forward/center Zach Collins (finger) is recovering from surgery after having a procedure done on April 8. A laceration on his left hand became infected after Collins suffered a cut on his finger in a game against Portland on April 6. The big man ended up missing the final two regular-season games because of the issue. Collins has finished his fifth season in the league. He averaged career numbers across the board, scoring 11.6 points per game and registering 6.4 rebounds with 2.9 assists. The 25-year-old was a reserve for most of the campaign and Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has already said that the Gonzaga product will be his starting center in 2023-24, so fantasy managers have a lot of reasons to be excited about Collins next season.

Tue Apr 4 202316:14Keldon Johnson And Zach Collins Out On Tuesday
San Antonio Spurs forwards Keldon Johnson (foot) and Zach Collins (finger) have both been ruled out for Tuesday's contest against the Phoenix Suns. The Spurs' tank is going full speed ahead as they've listed Collins with a "left fifth finger cut." If that doesn't scream tank job, then nothing does! Since they'll both be sidelined, Keita Bates-Diop, Julian Champagnie, and Sandro Mamukelashvili all could serve as streaming options in deeper leagues, but they wouldn't be recommended in many fantasy championship matchups.

Fri Mar 31 202319:35Zach Collins Out Against Golden State
San Antonio Spurs center Zach Collins (foot) won't play on Friday against the Warriors. The Spurs season is finished, so the 25-year-old will get a night off to rest his nagging left foot injury. As a result, Sandro Mamukelashvili will likely enter the starting lineup. He's averaged 13.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in three starts this season, meaning he'll draw plenty of interest from DFS managers looking for a value opportunity.

Fri Mar 24 202317:54Zach Collins Out On Friday Evening
San Antonio Spurs center Zach Collins (biceps) is out for Friday's meeting in Washington. The 25-year-old has a right biceps contusion, meaning Sandro Mamukelashvili should enter the starting lineup. The former Milwaukee Buck has averaged 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in two starts this season, so he'll make a fine streaming option in deep fantasy setups.

Mon Mar 20 202322:01Zach Collins Resting Tuesday
San Antonio Spurs center Zach Collins (rest) will sit out Tuesday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Collins is resting back-to-backs for the remainder of the season and will not play the first leg of the Tuesday-Wednesday games. Charles Bassey (knee) remains out for the season so Sandro Mamukelashvili should get the spot start. Mamukelashvili recorded 10 points and seven rebounds in 33 minutes in his last start.

Sun Mar 19 202300:32Zach Collins Questionable Versus Atlanta
San Antonio Spurs center Zach Collins (biceps) is questionable for Sunday's showdown with the Atlanta Hawks. The 25-year-old returned from a one-game absence on Friday in the overtime loss to Memphis. He finished that one with 24 points in 36 minutes, so it's unknown how severe his current injury is. Sandro Mamukelashvili will presumably enter the starting lineup if Collins doesn't suit up. However, he should be considered a risky fantasy option, especially since Gorgui Dieng could remain involved.

Wed Mar 15 202314:46Zach Collins Misses Wednesday's Game
San Antonio Spurs forward/center Zach Collins (ankle) won't play Wednesday against Dallas. The team will finish off a back-to-back set and Collins will be kept out of the lineup for left ankle injury management. With Jakob Poeltl back in Toronto, Collins has been enjoying a much larger role in San Antonio and has just had two consecutive 20-point nights. He has pushed his numbers as a starter to 13.7 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists. The 25-year-old should be back for the next game, with Sandro Mamukelashvili and Gorgui Dieng set to fill in for Collins Wednesday.

Sun Mar 5 202318:27Zach Collins, Jeremy Sochan Out Sunday
San Antonio Spurs center Zach Collins (ankle) and forward Jeremy Sochan (knee) have been ruled out for Sunday's game versus the Houston Rockets. The Spurs have sat out half the starting lineup on both nights of the back-to-back so these are likely rest days for Collins and Sochan. Keita Bates-Diop and Charles Bassey are the likely candidates to join the starting lineup and each would see boosts in fantasy value.

Fri Feb 10 202313:152023 NBA Trade Deadline Breakdown - Fantasy Basketball Impacts
The NBA trade deadline has officially come and gone and we had one of the most active deadlines in recent memory with some big stars being dealt. Kyrie, KD, and Westbrook are all heading to new teams and we have been covering those trades and their fantasy impacts here at RotoBaller. But there were plenty of other lesser-known players who were dealt in the last few days and I wanted to go through and make sure we don't overlook some of these trades as some of those deals may even have more fantasy impact than the big moves. So here are some other trades that went down and my two cents on the increase or decrease in value that we should expect from the players involved for the remainder of the 2022-2023 fantasy basketball season.

Moves That Matter

These are very much in order of how much they matter. Let's start with the Spurs sending their starting center back up North where he started his career.Jakob Poeltl to the RaptorsI am a huge Poeltl fan and was close to acquiring him on multiple teams before the deadline. It was a curious move by Toronto to be buyers instead of sellers at the deadline, but Poeltl gives them the presence at the five they have been lacking all season and allows Siakam to shift over and play PF where he belongs.Poeltl is no longer a shutdown candidate and has legit top-50 upside with his multi-category abilities. His departure also makes ... [More]
Fri Dec 16 202220:47Zach Collins Probable For Saturday
San Antonio Spurs forward/center Zach Collins (ankle) is considered probable for Saturday's matchup against the Heat. He sat out Wednesday's loss to Portland with a left ankle sprain but it looks like Collins will be good to go Saturday. The 25-year-old has recently had a very strong run in the team, but that has coincided with the absence of Jakob Poeltl (knee) and he is expected to be back as well Saturday. Collins was able to earn six starts in Poeltl's place and his fantasy value as a bench player is limited.

Wed Dec 14 202216:54Zach Collins, Romeo Langford Ruled Out Wednesday
San Antonio Spurs center Zach Collins (ankle) and shooting guard/small forward Romeo Langford (ankle) have been deemed unavailable for Wednesday's contest vs. Portland. Collins had started each of San Antonio's past six games with Jakob Poeltl (knee) sidelined, with Charles Bassey now in line to see a sizable minutes increase. Langford has also worked his way back among the starting five, although his production has fluctuated this year to the tune of 6.6 PPG across fewer than 20 minutes on a nightly basis. Langford's absence on the wing will likely funnel more offensive focus toward Keldon Johnson and Devin Vassell. The next chance for the injured duo to return comes Saturday against the Heat.

Wed Nov 23 202217:16Zach Collins Won't Make His Comeback Wednesday
San Antonio Spurs forward/center Zach Collins (leg) will remain out of the lineup Wednesday versus New Orleans. He has been recovering from a fibula fracture, and Collins was expected to return against the Pelicans after initially being probable for the contest, but he will now have to wait for his comeback a bit longer. The 25-year-old did some good work earlier in the campaign before getting injured, averaging 8.3 points with 4.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 blocks in 17.7 minutes off the bench. He will get his next chance to return Friday in a matchup against the Lakers. Charles Bassey and Gorgui Dieng will continue to work behind starting center Jakob Poeltl on Wednesday.

Wed Nov 9 202221:25Zach Collins Without A Timetable
San Antonio Spurs forward Zach Collins (fibula) is without a timetable to return to the court. The 24-year-old has suffered a left fibula non-displaced fracture, which is going to cost him significant time. The oft-injured big man just can't seem to catch a break as his young career continues to be derailed by injuries. Head coach Gregg Popovich mentioned that Charles Bassey would likely see more playing time with Collins sidelined. Bassey could be someone worth looking at in deep leagues, assuming he does actually see increased minutes.

Fri Jun 24 202217:32Spurs Bring Back Zach Collins
San Antonio Spurs forward Zach Collins will be around for at least one more season. The organization has decided to guarantee his $7.35 million contract for 2022. Collins put together some nice games towards the end of the season. However, he hasn't been able to play a full season since the 2018-2019 campaign. Also, Jakob Poeltl remains on the roster and is going to get significant playing time. At this point, Collins is only a risky deep league option since he can't seem to stay on the court.

Sun Apr 3 202218:55Tre Jones, Zach Collins Starting On Sunday
San Antonio Spurs point guard Tre Jones and center Zach Collins will be part of the starting five for Sunday night's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. They'll be joined by Joshua Primo, Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson. Both Jones and Collins are excellent fantasy options for Sunday's slate. This is the second consecutive start for Jones. In the team's last game on Friday, which was also against the Blazers, he racked up nine points, nine assists, five rebounds and two steals over 33 minutes. Collins, meanwhile, came off the bench on Friday and racked up 15 points, nine boards, five assists, two steals and two blocks over 25 minutes.

Fri Feb 4 202215:16Zach Collins Set To Make Season Debut Friday
San Antonio Spurs center Zach Collins (ankle) has been removed from the injury report ahead of Friday's game vs. the Rockets, paving the way for the 24-year-old to make his season -- and team -- debut. Collins, who last appeared in game action on Aug. 13, 2020, has been hampered by ankle injuries. He should step in as a bench contributor behind Jakob Poeltl in the frontcourt, but with career highs of seven points and 6.3 rebounds per contest, fantasy managers shouldn't be flocking to the waiver wire to acquire his services. Collins' return likely knocks Jock Landale (concussion), Thaddeus Young, and Drew Eubanks from all season-long consideration.

Wed Nov 24 202120:02Zach Collins Returns To Practice Activities
San Antonio Spurs power forward/center Zach Collins (ankle) has recently ramped up his basketball activities as a return to game action is on the horizon. Collins is set to miss at least one more month after a pair of surgeries to help repair a stress fracture in his left foot. Having inked a highly protected deal with the Spurs this offseason, Collins would likely play a significant role in the frontcourt during the second half if he is able to get up to speed. In a brief 11-game stint as a starter with Portland last year, Collins averaged 7.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, all while shooting 47.1 percent overall. Check back for updates to his status as they become available.

Thu Aug 12 202121:37Zach Collins Contract Not Fully Guaranteed
San Antonio Spurs center Zach Collins recently signed a three-year, $22 million deal with the club. However, due to Collins' injury history, only a portion of the contract ($10.675 million) is guaranteed. The 23-year-old played sparingly throughout his four seasons in Portland because of a nagging foot issue, so there is plenty of risk associated with him as a fantasy option. Nonetheless, while most managers will look past Collins in upcoming fantasy drafts, he has the potential to make some noise this season, especially on the glass, if he can gain some minutes and remain healthy.

Tue Jan 19 202112:08Blazers guard CJ McCollum has fracture in left foot
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) β€” Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum has a hairline fracture in his left foot, the team said. McCollum will wear a walking boot and be reevaluated in four weeks. He was injured Saturday during a game against the Atlanta Hawks. McCollum was averaging a career-best 26.7 points, as well as five assists, per game when he got injured. McCollum's injury is the latest to befall the Blazers. Center Jusuf Nurkic fractured his wrist during a game last week against the Indiana Pacers and is out indefinitely. In his eighth NBA season, McCollum was first thought to have a sprain but the team said additional imaging showed a hairline fracture to the lateral cuneiform. It was unclear when he was injured but it appeared that Atlanta's Clint Capela stepped on his foot following a layup in the opening quarter. The Blazers went on to win the game 112-106. Rodney Hood took McCollum's place in Monday's game against the San Antonio Spurs, finishing with 21 points in Portland's 125-104 loss. Nurkic was averaging 9.8 points and 7.7. assists before he was injured. Enes Kanter has started in his absence. The Blazers are also missing forward Zach Collins, who is expected to be out several months after ankle surgery in December. ___ More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Fri Jan 15 202101:06Portland's Nurkic fractures right wrist against Indiana
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) β€” Portland Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic fractured his right wrist Thursday night during a game against the Indiana Pacers. Nurkic could be seen holding the wrist after swiping at the ball in the third quarter, and he fell to the floor after contact under Indiana's basket. At a timeout he went to to the locker room and did not return. The 7-foot-0 Bosnian was averaging 10.3 points and 7.6 rebounds heading into the game. Nurkic missed much of the first half of last season after breaking his left leg in a game in March 2019. He returned to the team to play in the the bubble in Orlando, Florida, after the season was put on hold because of coronavirus. "He had a long road back from his other injury," coach Terry Stotts said. β€œHe had a rough start of the season, it looked like he was getting back on track. Obviously this is a big setback for him and for us.” Stotts said Nurkic was in a splint after the game. The Blazers were already without forward/center Zach Collins indefinitely after ankle surgery at the end of December.
