Wed Oct 4 202321:45James Wiseman, Marvin Bagley III Fighting For Bench Role
Detroit Pistons head coach Monty Williams says forwards/centers James Wiseman and Marvin Bagley III are competing for "the backup big spot." Williams tends to prefer smaller lineups, so that seems to leave a very low fantasy floor for one or the other with 2022 first-round pick Jalen Duren locked in as the starting center. It helps their respective causes that Isaiah Livers (ankle) is down for six-to-eight weeks with an ankle injury, but it sounds like Wiseman and Bagley are more or less fighting for scraps.Fantasy managers in shallow leagues might want to steer clear from the two big men with no clear pathway to minutes having presented itself at this point. Isaiah Stewart, who appears to be solidified as Detroit's backup power forward, is probably the Pistons big worth a flier pick this draft season.

Wed Jul 5 202300:04Marvin Bagley III Could Be Traded This Offseason?
James Edwards III of The Athletic forecasts Detroit Pistons center Marvin Bagley III to be ahead of James Wiseman on the team's depth chart. That doesn't mean Bagley isn't a trade prospect though, as Edwards also views the 24-year-old as one of Detroit's "most likely candidates to be moved or not be in the rotation". The oft-injured Bagley lived up to the moniker once again in 2022-2023, limited to 42 games by knee and hand injuries. The former No.2 overall pick remained a decent points-league asset when active, posting 12.0 points and 6.4 rebounds on 52.9% shooting from the field across 23.6 minutes per game last year. Considering the crowded Pistons frontcourt also includes Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart, a change of scenery could augment Bagley's tantalizing fantasy potential if he were sent to a more favorable situation.

Fri Apr 7 202317:53Marvin Bagley III Available Against The Pacers
Detroit Pistons forward Marvin Bagley III (concussion) is available for Friday's matchup against Indiana. The 24-year-old had spent time in concussion protocol, costing him his last two games. However, with Bagley back in the mix, Jalen Duren, coming off an 18-point performance against the Nets, could see a significant dip in fantasy production.

Fri Apr 7 202315:58Marvin Bagley III Listed As Probable Against Indiana
Detroit Pistons forward Marvin Bagley III (concussion protocol) has been listed as probable for Friday's contest against the Indiana Pacers. In the midst of long injury reports for every team in the league, fantasy managers may be able to find some solace in Bagley since Isaiah Stewart (shoulder) is out. Starting him is still a risk, but it seems like the Pacers are running with a barebones roster as well.

Mon Apr 3 202323:39Marvin Bagley III Out On Tuesday Night
Detroit Pistons forward Marvin Bagley III (concussion) isn't available on Tuesday against the Miami Heat. The 2018 No. 2 overall pick logged only nine minutes on Sunday before his night ended abruptly. However, he's now in concussion protocol, so his season could be over. Nevertheless, Isaiah Livers will likely operate at the four. He's averaged 8.2 points and 3.1 boards in 21 starts in 2022-23, so he'll have DFS upside on Tuesday night. At the same time, Eugene Omoruyi will probably slide into the starting rotation, so he'll also have added value.

Mon Apr 3 202308:06Marvin Bagley III Injures His Neck Sunday
Detroit Pistons forward/center Marvin Bagley III left Sunday's 128-102 loss to Orlando early with neck soreness. The team initially regarded him as doubtful to return after Bagley took a knee to the back of his head from teammate Jalen Duren, but he never reappeared on the court and ended up playing for just nine minutes. Eugene Omoruyi started the second half in Bagley III's place and had himself 19 points in 28 minutes. He added two rebounds, two assists and two steals, although Omoruyi's shooting was very inefficient, with him finishing only 3-for-11 from deep and 6-for-17 overall from the field. He could play a big role again Tuesday versus Miami if Bagley III isn't available.

Wed Mar 22 202310:59Marvin Bagley III Goes Off For 31 Points
Detroit Pistons forward Marvin Bagley III turned in one of his best games of the season despite suffering a 22-point loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday. The 24-year-old registered 31 points, eight rebounds, one assist, three steals, and two blocks on 12-for-19 shooting and 4-for-5 from three. The frontcourt rotation has been a revolving door due to injuries, so this time around Bagley took advantage of that. His per-game value over the last week was good enough for top 5 in the league in nine-category formats.

Thu Mar 16 202314:07Marvin Bagley III Remains Out Thursday
Detroit Pistons forward/center Marvin Bagley III (ankle) will miss a third consecutive game Thursday against Denver. He was injured left weekend and hasn't been able to suit up since then due to right ankle soreness. James Wiseman and Jalen Duren will continue to carry the frontcourt on Thursday.

Tue Mar 14 202316:04Marvin Bagley III Won't Suit Up Against Washington
Detroit Pistons forward Marvin Bagley III (ankle) will not play on Tuesday against the Washington Wizards due to the same ankle issue that forced him to exit Saturday's contest and then miss Monday's as well. It wouldn't be too surprising if he missed at least one or two more games after this. His playing time has fluctuated while the other bigs on the team have been in and out of the lineup. While he's sidelined, James Wiseman and Jalen Duren should be good streaming options.

Sun Mar 12 202308:52Marvin Bagley III Exits With Ankle Soreness
Detroit Pistons forward/center Marvin Bagley III exited Saturday's game against Indiana with right ankle soreness. He left in the third period after playing for only 22 minutes. Bagley III posted six points on 3-for-9 shooting and had five rebounds with one assist. The two teams have a rematch scheduled for Monday and it's unclear if Bagley III will be able to take part in the game. His absence would likely lift Jalen Duran back into the starting unit. He impressed with 16 points and 11 rebounds on Saturday.

Fri Mar 10 202323:45Marvin Bagley III Expected To Play Versus The Pacers
Detroit Pistons forward Marvin Bagley III (ankle) is expected to play in Saturday's meeting with the Indiana Pacers. Bagley had scored in double figures in five of the six games heading into Thursday's matchup against the Charlotte Hornets. However, he finished that one with six points, which coincided with the return of Jalen Duren. With Bojan Bogdanovic (Achilles) and Isaiah Stewart (hip) sidelined, there are still minutes up for grabs. But with Duren, James Wiseman, and Isaiah Livers healthy, Bagley's fantasy upside on Saturday could be limited. In addition, Eugene Omoruyi, who's played 23 minutes or more in the last two games, also jeopardizes Bagley's chances of getting on the floor.

Sun Mar 5 202308:33Marvin Bagley III Has A Productive Start Against Cleveland
Detroit Pistons forward/center Marvin Bagley III was back in the starting unit against Cleveland on Saturday and played very well, finishing a 114-90 loss with a team-high 20 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, one steal and three blocks. Bagley III has only recently returned from injury, posting pretty impressive numbers over a four-game stretch with a 17.5-point scoring average and 13.0 rebounds. He'll look to keep it up Monday against Portland, although Bagley III's momentum could be disrupted if Jalen Duren (ankle) and Isaiah Stewart (hip) return to the lineup.

Sun Feb 26 202307:43Marvin Bagley III Returns With A Big Double-Double
Detroit Pistons forward/center Marvin Bagley III made a very productive return to the lineup Saturday against the Raptors, putting up a team-high 21 points and dominating the boards with 18 rebounds in a 95-91 loss. After missing a month with two fractured fingers, Bagley III was limited to 28 minutes off the bench, but he sure made good use of every single second he spent on the court. The 23-year-old finished with 8-for-19 shooting and his stat line also included one block and one turnover. Bagley III could be gearing up for a big run, as Jalen Duren (ankle) was out on Saturday and Isaiah Stewart (hip) couldn't finish the game. James Wiseman also benefits from the injuries.

Fri Feb 24 202323:52Marvin Bagley III Probable Versus The Raptors
Detroit Pistons forward Marvin Bagley III (hand) is probable ahead of Saturday's matchup against the Toronto Raptors. The 23-year-old is expected to return after missing the last 20 games because of metacarpal fractures in his right hand. Bagley has averaged 10.6 points and 5.9 rebounds in 25 games this season. However, it's unknown how much work he'll receive in his first game in nearly two months. Yet, with Jalen Duren (ankle) out for this one, Bagley may get more minutes than initially anticipated, giving him some upside for fantasy managers.

Thu Feb 23 202319:02Marvin Bagley III Ruled Out For Thursday
Detroit Pistons forward Marvin Bagley III (finger) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Orlando Magic. He was able to practice on Wednesday, which is a good sign that Bagley will be able to play soon. The 23-year-old is working his way back after undergoing surgery on his two broken fingers in early January. It's uncertain how Bagley will fit in the rotation with James Wiseman in town now. Bagley isn't someone that needs to be rostered in 12-team rosters right now.

Thu Feb 23 202310:29Marvin Bagley III Receives Doubtful Status On Thursday
Detroit Pistons forward Marvin Bagley III (hand) underwent surgery on his hand at the start of 2023 and hasn't seen the court since January 2. This is his first status that wasn't just ruling him out right away since then. While he still likely won't play, the upgraded status is a promising sign for the 23-year-old who has had some bad luck with injuries since he entered the league. Right now, Jalen Duren will still see plenty of minutes with new addition, James Wiseman, also seeing more and more opportunities as the Pistons will likely play their younger players even more down the stretch.

Wed Jan 4 202316:48Marvin Bagley III Set To Miss Extended Time
Detroit Pistons center Marvin Bagley III (hand) will be sidelined for approximately the next 6-8 weeks as two broken fingers on his right hand are expected to require surgery, per multiple reports. Bagley spent most of the past month working into a second unit role for Detroit, albeit to mixed results with an average of 9.1 points and 5.5 boards in just over 18 minutes per night. Nerlens Noel could notch a handful of minutes off the bench in Bagley's absence, but Jalen Duren is likely to continue seeing the lion's share of minutes at the five, making him a season-long roster candidate in all formats. Updates on Bagley's return to action will be provided as they emerge.

Fri Dec 30 202216:44Marvin Bagley III Will Return To Action Friday
Detroit Pistons center Marvin Bagley III (illness) has been given the green light to get back onto the floor for Friday's game vs. Chicago. Bagley had missed Detroit's previous two outings due to an illness. In his absence, Jalen Duren has further emerged as a rebounding dynamo alongside Isaiah Stewart in the frontcourt; for now, Bagley should continue to have a solid floor as an 18-20-minute contributor off the bench. While his role may not jump off the page, Bagley has shot a career-best 54.5 percent from the floor this season, averaging 10.7 points and 6.1 boards per contest.

Wed Dec 28 202215:17Marvin Bagley III Sits Again Wednesday
Detroit Pistons forward/center Marvin Bagley III (illness) will miss a second consecutive game Wednesday versus Orlando. He was taken out by a non-COVID illness at the start of the week and Bagley III still needs some time to recover. Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duren carried the frontcourt against the Clippers on Monday, with Saddiq Bey providing cover off the bench. All three performed well and should be strong fantasy options again on Wednesday against a team that has serious defensive issues. Bagley III will have his next chance to return on Friday against Chicago.

Mon Dec 26 202214:54Marvin Bagley III Uncertain For Monday
Detroit Pistons forward Marvin Bagley III (illness) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. He was a late addition to the injury report due to a non-COVID related illness. The Pistons will likely use a committee approach to fill the void, assuming Bagley sits out. Kevin Knox II, Nerlens Noel and Saddiq Bey are candidates to see additional playing time if Bagley is unable to go. However, none of them are considered strong streaming options with Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duren healthy.
