Kyrie Irving's Season Recap

Irving got suspended for an antisemitic social media post, keeping him out of the lineup for eight games. But since then, the 30-year-old stayed out of the limelight, so most had assumed he finally turned things around. He's played well all season, averaging 27.1 points, 5.3 assists, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in 40 appearances.https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1622324668047794177?s=20&t=NTffJ2tRvNpjAA7bddjYHQHe was also selected to the All-Star team for the eighth time in his career. Marcus Smart Injury Update

The Celtics were without Jayson Tatum for Saturday's meeting with Toronto, as the MVP candidate got the day off to deal with wrist soreness. Luckily, the C's recently got Jaylen Brown back from a three-game layoff, so the team at least had its No. 2 scoring option. Boston also had Marcus Smart, who is proficient on both ends of the floor.Unfortunately, the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year's evening didn't last long, as he exited in the first half after suffering a sprained right ankle. Smart has battled ankle injuries throughout his career, so fantasy managers are familiar with this.https://twitter.com/ChrisForsberg_/status/1616933981362028546?s=20&t=ADA6dM_t2muMcgq6cJRitwWhile X-ray results were encouraging, revealing no structural damage, he'll likely miss a game or two, possibly more. LaMelo Ball Injury Update

LaMelo Ball exited Monday's meeting with the Rockets with a sprained left ankle. This is an all too familiar ailment, as the 21-year-old injured it twice already this season. He missed the first 13 games of the 2022-23 campaign because of it before making his season debut on November 12 against Miami.https://twitter.com/HornetsOnBally/status/1615898994508546048?s=20&t=2ONmwk9cIuX1k5z8xOpxsQUnfortunately, the 2020 No. 3 overall pick was incapacitated again after stepping on a fan's foot during a matchup with Indiana just a few days later, keeping him sidelined for an additional 11 games. Now, it appears fantasy managers will be without Ball for a while, considering he needed help getting to the locker room. With ... [More]

Donovan Mitchell Injury Update

Donovan Mitchell has been on a tear in his first season as a Cavalier, averaging a career-high 28.8 points per game. The 26-year-old has certainly made an impact, so there is naturally some concern surrounding his most recent injury, a groin strain, suffered during Monday's win over the Pelicans.https://twitter.com/ChrisFedor/status/1615106299636719632?s=20&t=nIB5An7gWfmmxjT49g7LLAMitchell exited in the third quarter and did not return to the contest, finishing with 11 points in 22 minutes. The former Louisville Cardinal has stayed relatively healthy in 2022-23, missing only five games. However, with the Cavs looking to make a deep run into the postseason, Mitchell may miss some games, beginning with Wednesday's meeting in Memphis.https://twitter.com/AmicoHoops/status/1615116579011690502?s=20&t=8uEcBgsFXrfQNXVsKuQmNAWithout him in the lineup, others will have to step up. Derrick White Injury Update

Jaylen Brown, the No. 2 offensive option for the Celtics, is possibly out for a couple of weeks because of an adductor injury. Obviously, this isn't ideal for Boston, a team that struggled throughout December while losing the first two contests of 2023.Although the C's have plenty of depth in the backcourt, Boston could be without Derrick White after the veteran suffered a neck strain in Saturday's win over the Hornets.https://twitter.com/celtics/status/1614425152200257542?s=20&t=SawJ1rLRAHqFYZAcIiNRJwThe former Spur will likely undergo further testing to determine the severity of the ailment. But it wouldn't be surprising if he missed at least a few games. Fortunately, ... [More]
Sun Jan 8 202318:08Naz Reid Will Play Sunday Night
Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid (back) is available to play Sunday against the Houston Rockets. Reid missed two games due to a back injury before returning Friday, but only logged nine minutes as his back flared up. Reid was questionable for Sunday but got the go ahead from the training staff to play. There is some reinjury risk for Reid given he left Friday's game early, but he should be fine for his normal amount of minutes.

Fri Jan 6 202320:41Naz Reid Available Again Friday
Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid (back) will be back from a two-game absence on Friday against the Clippers. He's had trouble with back spasms but is good to go again. Reid recently had a very productive stretch with Rudy Gobert out of the lineup and he has a tough time pleasing fantasy managers with the French giant healthy, but this could be a great matchup for him. The Clippers are allowing centers to shoot nearly 59 percent from the field against them, and they could struggle to keep things competitive with Paul George (hamstring) and Kawhi Leonard (knee) out, which could result in extended minutes for Reid off the bench. Reid's return likely drops Luka Garza from the rotation.

Tue Jan 3 202322:13Naz Reid Listed As Questionable Wednesday
Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid (back) is questionable to play Wednesday against the Portland Trail Blazers. Reid missed Monday's game with back spasms and may sit another if he does not recover in time. Nathan Knight and Luka Garza saw an uptick in minutes off the bench without Reid, but neither are recommended fantasy options. If Reid is unable to go, the main beneficiaries will likely be Kyle Anderson and Jaden McDaniels.

Mon Dec 19 202207:40Naz Reid Exits Sunday's Game Early
Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid had to cut a productive night short Sunday against Chicago, leaving the game with trapezius tightness. He finished with 10 points in 12 minutes of play, adding three rebounds and one steal. Reid made his second start of the campaign and scored the team's first 10 points. It's a very unfortunate turn of events for Reid, who had started to play a massive role for the team due to injuries, but he got hurt himself now and his big opportunity might be gone with that. Nathan Knight filled the center spot in the second half against the Bulls and played well, collecting 16 points in 26. He is now set to benefit from the injury situation if Reid and Rudy Gobert (ankle) remain out for the next game.

Sat Dec 17 202208:10Naz Reid Takes Care Of Business As Starter
Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid killed it in his first start of the season Friday, leading the team with 28 points in a 112-110 victory over Oklahoma City. He also bagged nine rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block, while shooting 11-for-18 from the field. The 23-year-old was even on fire from downtown with a 3-for-5 effort in 37 minutes. Reid got the start because Rudy Gobert (ankle) joined Karl-Anthony Towns (calf) on the shelf. Ankle injuries could be very troublesome, so it's unclear when Gobert can return. The first opportunity comes on Sunday versus Chicago, but it's a start of a back-to-back for the team and Minnesota might want to give Gobert an extra day to rest. That would allow Reid to shine again.

Fri Nov 11 202220:06Naz Reid Sits Friday Night
Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid (illness) remains unavailable for Friday's contest against Memphis. He's battling an illness and already missed one game this week, Reid recently had a few strong showings, but it was because Rudy Gobert hasn't available and fantasy managers shouldn't expect a repeat of the stretch anytime soon. Both Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns need to go down for Reid to make himself relevant in fantasy hoops again. With Reid out, the T-Wolves have brought in Luka Garza from the G League to have some backup for their twin towers.

Wed Jun 29 202220:34Naz Reid Has Team Option Exercised
The Timberwolves have exercised the option on center Naz Reid. He will make around $1.9 million this season and will remain with the club that signed him as an undrafted rookie in 2019. The 22-year-old averaged 9.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks during his three seasons in Minnesota. Yet, he averaged 15.5 points and 7.7 rebounds last season as a starter (six games). While he should spend most of his time on the bench, those numbers suggest there is streaming potential for fantasy managers if Karl-Anthony Towns isn't available at any point in 2022-23.

Wed Mar 16 202219:55Naz Reid Ruled Out On Wednesday
Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid (back) has been ruled out for Wednesday night's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. He is dealing with back spasms. The injury forced him to miss Monday's game against the San Antonio Spurs. As a result of his absence, Karl-Anthony Towns wound up playing 36 minutes and racking up 60 points on 19-of-31 shooting while grabbing 17 boards. Towns could be in store for another big game on Wednesday. We could also see Taurean Prince or Jarred Vanderbilt earn some extra playing time with Reid out.

Wed Mar 16 202209:49Patrick Beverly, Naz Reid, Jarred Vanderbilt Questionable
The Minnesota Timberwolves have an extensive injury report heading into Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Point guard Patrick Beverley (ear), center Naz Reid (back), forward Jarred Vanderbilt (quad) and guard Jordan McLaughlin (groin) are all currently listed as questionable. Meanwhile, guard Anthony Edwards (patella) is listed as probable and forward Jaden McDaniels (ankle) is out. Beverley is the only player from the questionable group who was able to play in the team's most recent game on Monday and he logged 30 minutes in the contest. Depending on who is active or not, we could see some T-Wolves rotational guys such as Josh Okogie, Jaylen Nowell, ... [More]

Mon Mar 14 202219:12Naz Reid Will Miss Monday’s Contest
Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid (back) has been ruled out for Monday's game against San Antonio as he battles back spasms. Reid has been an integral member of Minnesota's second unit this season, but his capped minutes (16 per game) puts the kibosh on his season-long fantasy relevance. Without him in the mix, Karl-Anthony Towns can be expected to absorb a handful of additional minutes, while Malik Beasley should have an even greener light to shoot at will off the bench. With Jarred Vanderbilt (quad) also down in the frontcourt, Jaden McDaniels and Nathan Knight stand to see elevated roles. Reid's next chance to suit up comes Wednesday vs. the Lakers.

Sun Mar 13 202222:56Naz Reid Questionable For Monday Due To Back Spasms
Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid (back) is questionable ahead of Monday's matchup in San Antonio. The 22-year-old got 23 minutes of work against the Heat on Saturday, finishing with an impressive double-double along with three steals and two blocks. Yet, he's now dealing with back spasms, which isn't ideal considering Jarred Vanderbilt (quadriceps) has already been ruled out. Nevertheless, if Reid is healthy enough to go, there is a chance he could be limited physically, decreasing his fantasy outlook despite the potential for an uptick in playing time.

Mon Mar 7 202219:00Patrick Beverley, Naz Reid Active On Monday
The Minnesota Timberwolves will have guard Patrick Beverley (ankle), forward Taurean Prince (back) and center Naz Reid (hamstring) on the court for Monday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Meanwhile, starting guards D'Angelo Russell (hamstring) and Anthony Edwards (patella) have been ruled out. Monday's game will be a good opportunity for Beverly with Russell out. Prince and Reid have had some strong outings here and there while playing bench roles. Prince in particular has come on strong lately. Over three games in March, he's averaging 12.7 points, 2.0 threes, 1.3 blocks and 1.7 steals per game.

Mon Mar 7 202218:32Naz Reid Questionable For Monday's Game
Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid (hamstring) is questionable for Monday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. The third-year pro is dealing with a right hamstring contusion. If he's unable to go, the Timberwolves may have to play some small ball on Monday or just lean extra heavily on Karl-Anthony Towns. Reid has been the only center utilized off the bench by the team lately. He's typically logged around 15 minutes per contest. Taurean Prince (back) could potentially slide into a center role, but he's questionable for the game himself.

Thu Dec 23 202120:37Naz Reid, Jake Layman Bumped To Starting Five Thursday
Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid and small/power forward Jake Layman have shifted into the starting lineup for Thursday's contest against the Jazz. Reid will be making his second start of 2021-22 in place of Karl-Anthony Towns (health and safety protocols), while Layman draws his first starting assignment of the season. The absence of Towns makes Reid one of the premier DFS plays of the slate, as the 22-year-old has averaged 12.7 points and 6.4 boards across 27 career starts. Even a starter's workload may not be enough to push Layman into consideration, as he has played an extremely limited role on the wing. Fantasy managers can also eye D'Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, and Jaden McDaniels as DFS assets with added upside.

Wed Nov 17 202119:37Minnesota Clears Naz Reid To Play In Wednesday’s Game
Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid (foot) has been given the green light to take the floor for Wednesday's contest against Sacramento. Reid rejoins the T-Wolves' second unit after a one-game absence, although his return isn't likely to affect Karl-Anthony Towns or Jarred Vanderbilt's DFS appeal significantly. Known for his instant scoring punch, the only thing keeping Reid from season-long relevance is his relatively light minutes allotment (15.8 per game). Traditionally, he can be passed over in cash play DFS lineups, but with the Kings' woes against opposing centers (third-most points allowed) at the forefront, the 22-year-old could be worth a roll of the dice at the eleventh hour.
