Asik shined as a rebounder and defensive force in his first season with the Pelicans after being traded by Houston in exchange for a first round pick last offseason. Asik was brought into New Orleans before the 2014-15 season to start at center alongside superstar Anthony Davis. Asik's role as a rebounder and big-bodied defender in the paint was clear. Despite his impressive rebounding numbers, Asik's fantasy value is limited by his lack of offensive production and shaky free-throw shooting, just 58 percent from the line this season. Asik is a great asset to have on an NBA team thanks to his rebounding and defense, but he's not as valuable in terms of fantasy. He'll be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and with the addition of new head coach Alvin Gentry, Asik's future and/or role as a Pelican is unclear.

The big man's performance has been up-and-down of late, as he's alternated single-digit and double-digit rebounding performances over his last seven contests. That said, he was able to string together four straight games of 10-plus rebounds from Feb. 23 through Mar. 1.

Asik posted just two points (1-3 FG) to go with seven rebounds and one steal in 28 minutes of action Monday against the Mavericks.

Asik had been playing well prior to Monday's game, averaging 11.0 points and 11.8 rebounds in five games prior. With the news that Anthony Davis (shoulder) could return soon, Asik's value may take a dip. Still, he's worth holding onto in standard leagues until he cools off completely.

Asik double-doubled in Wednesday's win over the Nets, finishing with 12 points (5-6 FG, 2-2 FT), 13 rebounds, one assist and a blocked shot in 29 minutes.

Asik has played well over his last three games, averaging 13.7 points, 11.0 rebounds and one blocked shot over that span. His production will likely continue to stay this high with Anthony Davis out, as he'll be getting extended minutes with a lack of healthy frontcourt members.

Asik scored 10 points (5-8 FG), while pulling down 11 rebounds, and a steal in 24 minutes.

Asik has been rebounding with ease over the past month and has been averaging 10 rebounds a game thus far in January. He still isn't able to rack up points, and is averaging under a block a game through the year, making him a less than desirable option at center. If you really need the rebounding feel free to pick him up, but there are likely players with more upside on the waiver wire.

Asik dominated the glass Monday, but failed to record an assist in his third straight game. He is a solid source for rebounds and blocks, but don't expect a ton of production anywhere else.

Asik managed just four rebounds Saturday night, the fewest he's had in a game this season.

The big man has seen his minutes drop in recent games, and his production has taken a hit as a result. In his last six games Asik is averaging just 3.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per gamewell below his season averages.
