Tue Mar 15 202215:26Robert Covington To Rejoin Team On Tuesday
Los Angeles Clippers forward Robert Covington (personal) will rejoin the organization on Tuesday. It's assumed that he'll suit up on Tuesday after missing each of the last three games due to personal reasons. Semi Ojeleye, Brandon Boston Jr., and Rodney Hood have all been playing more minutes without Covington available. None of them will be appealing fantasy options with Covington back. Fantasy managers will have to check back just in case Covington does sit this one out.

Fri Mar 11 202210:20Robert Covington Remains Sidelined For Friday’s Game
LA Clippers power forward/center Robert Covington (personal) has been ruled out for Friday's contest vs. the Hawks. Covington has been absent from the Clippers' past three outings, paving the way for Nicolas Batum and Ivica Zubac to snag a handful of additional minutes. Covington has averaged 8.2 points and 5.3 boards in 12 outings since joining LA, although he has had to transition to a bench role after starting 40 games with Portland. The veteran has averaged at least 1.5 made triples and better than one steal and block per outing in each of the last three years, aiding his season-long appeal in category formats. His next chance to return to action comes Sunday against Detroit.

Wed Mar 9 202218:22Robert Covington Ruled Out On Wednesday
Los Angeles Clippers forward Robert Covington (personal) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Washington Wizards. He missed Tuesday's game and it sounds like he'll sit out at least one more game. Nicolas Batum seemed to benefit the most with Covington sidelined on Tuesday. He should be a decent streaming option for Wednesday's game. Also, Luke Kennard and Amir Coffey should see more minutes as well.

Tue Mar 8 202215:25Robert Covington Has No Timetable For Return
Los Angeles Clippers forward Robert Covington (personal) was ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Golden State Warriors for undisclosed personal reasons. Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue stated that he isn't sure how long Covington will remain out. Lue added that Covington's absence could lead to opportunities for Semi Ojeleye, Rodney Hood and Brandon Boston Jr. It'll be interesting to see how the minutes shake out for those three on Tuesday. Covington has regularly been playing 20-plus minutes per night, so there'll certainly be extra playing time to go around.

Mon Mar 7 202221:24Robert Covington Unavailable For Tuesday
Los Angeles Clippers forward Robert Covington (personal) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Golden State Warriors. His absence should result in more minutes for Marcus Morris Sr., Amir Coffey, and Isaiah Hartenstein. Morris is the best fantasy option between the three players. He's worth considering as a streaming option for Tuesday's game. It's uncertain what Covington is dealing with right now. Fantasy managers should consider him questionable for Wednesday's game.

Fri Feb 4 202214:40Clippers Land Norman Powell, Robert Covington In Trade
The LA Clippers have begun to bulk up their roster ahead of the trade deadline, adding small forwards Norman Powell and Robert Covington to the mix in a deal that sent Eric Bledsoe, Justise Winslowand Keon Johnson to Portland. The move serves as added depth for an LA squad that is unlikely to have Kawhi Leonard (knee) at its disposal this year, with Paul George (elbow) in danger of missing the remainder of the season as well. Powell has averaged a career-best 18.7 points per game across 40 outings (39 starts) this year, and he could stand to serve as one of the Clippers top scoring options for the rest of the season. Covington has shot a career-worst 38.1 percent overall this season and he stands to play a limited role on what now appears to be a crowded LA frontcourt.

Wed Jan 26 202218:08Robert Covington, Nassir Little Will Miss Wednesday’s Game
Portland Trail Blazers power forward Robert Covington (knee) and small/power forward Nassir Little (shoulder) have been ruled out for Wednesday's contest vs. Dallas. The duo's absence will leave Portland massively shorthanded on the wing, paving the way for Tony Snell and CJ Elleby to see a significant minutes bump. Covington has struggled statistically during his second season with the Blazers, averaging just 7.7 PPG on 39 percent shooting overall. Little has seen his minutes total nearly double from where it sat last year, parlaying his elevated workload into 9.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per outing. The next chance for either to suit up comes Friday against the Rockets.

Sun Jan 2 202220:52Robert Covington Removed From Injury Report
Portland Trail Blazers forward Robert Covington has been removed from the injury report ahead of Monday's game against the Atlanta Hawks. He has missed each of the last three games while following the league's health and safety protocols. His return is good timing with Cody Zeller and Jusuf Nurkic unlikely to play on Monday due to COVID-19 protocols. There is a good chance that Covington starts alongside Larry Nance Jr. on Monday and sees significant minutes. Regardless of him starting, Covington should be rostered in basically all formats right now.

Mon Dec 27 202121:13Robert Covington Out Against Mavericks
Portland Trail Blazers forward Robert Covington won't play against Dallas on Monday after entering health and safety protocols. The veteran joins Jusuf Nurkic, Dennis Smith Jr., and Ben McLemore, who are also out for the same reason. Fortunately, Damian Lillard (personal) will play, so he will likely handle most of the work on the offensive end. Nassir Little and Larry Nance Jr. should get a good chunk of the minutes underneath the rim, and both have streaming appeal in seasonal-long formats.

Sat Mar 6 202117:33At the NBA All-Star Game, HBCUs will take center stage
Mo Williams played for the Eastern Conference in the 2009 NBA All-Star Game, and he fully understands the enormity of the event’s platform. His team lost that game. His current team — and a lot of others — should be big winners this time around. Sunday’s All-Star Game in Atlanta is generating $3 million for Historically Black Colleges and Universities, through donations to scholarship funds. But the actual value to those schools will far exceed that influx of cash, with almost every All-Star element set to showcase and celebrate HBCU traditions and culture. “Everything’s about exposure,” said Williams, who played 13 NBA seasons and now is a first-year coach at Alabama State of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. “Being that the All-Star Game is putting an emphasis on HBCUs, it gives us exposure, and it helps in a lot of different areas, a lot of different ways, a lot of different schools. “It’s no different from Super Bowl commercials. People spend millions of dollars to put their commercial... [More]

Tue Mar 2 202119:52NBA reveals All-Star skills, 3-point, dunk participants
Golden State’s Stephen Curry and Phoenix’s Devin Booker have been 3-point champions at All-Star weekend before, and they’ll try to win that trophy again Sunday. The NBA revealed the 15 players Tuesday who will be taking part in the other on-court events besides the All-Star Game in Atlanta, with the overwhelming majority of them pulling double-duty between those competitions and the game itself. Curry, Booker, the Boston duo of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, Chicago’s Zach LaVine and Utah’s Donovan Mitchell — all of them All-Stars — will be the six competitors in the 3-point contest. All-Stars Luka Doncic of Dallas, Domantas Sabonis of Indiana, Julius Randle of New York, Nikola Vucevic of Orlando and Chris Paul of Phoenix will be five of the six entrants in the skills competition. They’ll be joined by Portland’s Robert Covington, the only current NBA player who is a graduate of a historically Black college and university. Covington went to Tennessee State. HBCUs will be a major part of... [More]
Wed Sep 9 202023:01At home, on the road or at Disney, James is tough to beat
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) — LeBron James now has been part of more postseason game victories than any player in NBA history, a record he’s earned over his 14 appearances in the playoffs.Earlier in this postseason, he also became the all-time leader in playoff road wins. That one seems a little fraudulent, in the sense that this year counts toward that total. The NBA has tried to dress the neutral courts up with the comforts of home since the season restarted at Walt Disney World in July; the home team gets its usual music, gets its graphics splayed everywhere, even has the traditional over-the-top introduction of the starting lineup. It’s all nice, but none of it really matters. For the first time in NBA history, “road” teams have a winning record through the first two rounds of the playoffs. The Milwaukee Bucks lost twice as many “home” games in the bubble than they did in their home building; they were 4-6 carrying that designation at Disney, 28-3 at Fiserv Forum.“Yeah, the home-road stuff... Thu Feb 6 202020:56Wolves send Wiggins to Warriors for Russell in scorer swap
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Timberwolves have taken on yet another new look, with D'Angelo Russell on his way to join pal Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins heading west to the Golden State Warriors. In a swap of high scorers consummated just a few hours before the NBA deadline on Thursday, the Timberwolves acquired the dynamic point guard they'd been seeking for awhile in Russell and pulled the plug on their development of Wiggins, the mercurial first overall pick of the 2014 draft. The deal also sent two little-used Golden State players, guard Jacob Evans and forward Omari Spellman, to the Timberwolves and routed two draft picks to the Warriors. They'll get Minnesota's first-rounder and second-rounder in 2021, unless the first-rounder is in the top three. Then it would roll over to 2022.That means the Timberwolves, who overturned half of their roster this week, will have two first-round picks this summer, their own that's likely to be in the top five and another one from Brooklyn... Thu Feb 6 202014:56AP source: Wolves send Wiggins to Warriors for Russell
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — In a swap of high scorers, the Minnesota Timberwolves acquired D'Angelo Russell on Thursday from the Golden State Warriors for Andrew Wiggins, according to a person with knowledge of the trade. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal had yet to be finalized by the NBA with a few hours remaining before the deadline. ESPN first reported the trade, which also includes additional players and draft picks. Russell had been on Minnesota's radar for months, a dynamic point guard in his fifth season in the league after going as the second overall pick in the 2015 draft. The first choice that year was Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns, a friend of Russell around whom the front office has been trying to rebuild the roster. Minnesota will be Russell's fourth NBA team. He averaged 23.6 points per game for the injury-wrecked Warriors, a career high after coming in an offseason trade with Brooklyn. The Wolves tried to woo him then, too,... [More]
