Sat Dec 18 202116:11Saddiq Bey Scores Game-High 23 Points
Detroit Pistons small forward Saddiq Bey produced a very good showing against the Rockets on Saturday, leading all scorers with 23 points and adding four rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block. He hit 9-for-16 from the field with a 3-for-7 record from deep and didn't commit a single turnover in 37 minutes on the court. Bey has scored 51 points across the last two games, taking full advantage of extra touches with Jerami Grant (thumb) on the shelf. Detroit's star man might be missing until February, so Bey should be scooped up by fantasy managers if he's available.

Mon Nov 1 202122:24Saddiq Bey Expected To Play On Tuesday
Detroit Pistons forward Saddiq Bey (ankle) is expected to suit up for Tuesday's matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks. The 22-year-old is currently dealing with a sprained left ankle, an injury he presumably picked up on Sunday during the blowout loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Bey has played well this season and has arguably been his team's best player, averaging 15.8 points and 8.0 rebounds across 32.7 minutes. He should remain relevant from a fantasy perspective, at least until rookie Cade Cunningham (ankle) works his way into a full workload. In the meantime, fantasy managers should continue to enjoy Bey's above-ADP production while keeping him starting in all setups for the foreseeable future.

Detroit Pistons small forward Saddiq Bey scored a season-high 21 points in the team's 122-104 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Monday. He shot 8-for-16 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free throw line in the contest. He also added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Bey had been struggling from three-point range to start the year. In his first two games, he shot just 1-for-9 from beyond the arc. However, in Monday's game, he went on to hit three of his eight three-point attempts. Bey should be a solid source of threes, points, steals and rebounds throughout the year. Wed Jun 2 202117:21Detroit Pistons hire John Beilein in player development role
DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Pistons hired John Beilein as a senior adviser for player development Wednesday, saying the hope is that the former NBA and Michigan coach can help the young team "maximize its potential.” Owner Tom Gores credited coach Dwane Casey for the decision to add the 68-year-old Beilein. “There is nothing more important to our franchise right now than the growth and development of our players,” Gores said. “Having spent time with John, we all know he is one of the best teachers in the game of basketball at any level. " Beilein spent 12 seasons at Michigan, piling up a 278-150 record as the Wolverines made nine trips to the NCAA Tournament, including five trips to the Sweet 16 and national championship game appearances in 2013 and 2018. He left to become head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers for part of the 2019-20 season. A year ago, Beilein resigned after just 54 games and only 14 wins with the rebuilding Cavaliers. The demands of travel, lack of practice time and a... [More]

Mon May 17 202117:26Pistons finish near the bottom but have reasons for optimism
DETROIT (AP) — Troy Weaver's first season as Detroit's general manager ended with the Pistons holding the second-worst record in the league. Finally, though, it felt like the future looks a little brighter for this franchise. “Obviously, the optimism is not in the record, because the record stinks," Weaver said Monday. "We'll continue to fight — claw, scratch, fight, whatever we've got to do to get out of this hole.” For over a decade now, the Pistons have been mired in mediocrity, rarely making the playoffs and exiting quickly whenever they did. Detroit began rebuilding in earnest in early 2020, moving on from Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson. Then Weaver arrived and made an even clearer break from the past, implementing a thorough overhaul in a matter of months. The result was a 20-52 record, but the roster now includes a few promising rookies. Detroit showed some competitive spirit this year, but the Pistons were still bad enough to lock in one of the top six picks in the draft no matter... [More]
Wed May 12 202119:24Pistons extending Casey through 2023-24 season
DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Pistons have agreed to a contract extension with coach Dwane Casey through the 2023-24 season. The team confirmed the agreement Wednesday. “Dwane’s ability to adapt and lead us through a challenging but very exciting year of growth and development has further established his place as one of the most highly respected coaches in the NBA,” Pistons owner Tom Gores said. “He is fully committed to the restoration of the Pistons where his competitiveness, teaching ability and developmental acumen can be seen in the growth of our young players." Casey is wrapping up his third season with the rebuilding Pistons, who at 20-50 have the second-worst record in the NBA. Detroit is at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, but the Pistons do have some young players who have shown promise, such as rookies Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart. Detroit has completely overhauled its roster since the start of 2020, parting ways with Blake Griffin, Andre Drummond and several other players who received significant playing time. ___ More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/hub/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Fri Mar 5 202117:23Blake Griffin, Detroit Pistons agree to buyout
DETROIT (AP) — Blake Griffin's time in Detroit is over, another significant step in a rebuilding process that has the Pistons at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. The veteran forward and the Pistons agreed to a contract buyout. “I thank the Pistons organization for working together on an outcome that benefits all involved and I wish the franchise success in the future,” Griffin said Friday in a statement released by the team. The Pistons announced last month that they would keep Griffin out of the lineup while resolving his future, a clear sign that the star forward could be on the way out. The Pistons also traded Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks last month. Griffin, who turns 32 later this month, came to Detroit in a trade during the 2017-18 season. The question now is how valuable he might be to a contending team. He had a terrific 2018-19 season for the Pistons, helping them to the playoffs, but his health has been a concern in Detroit, just as it had been when he was with the... [More]

Mon Feb 15 202115:47Pistons holding out Griffin while resolving his future
DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Pistons plan to keep Blake Griffin out of the lineup while he and the organization work out a decision on his future, a sign the star forward's days with the team could be numbered. “After extensive conversation with Blake’s representatives, it has been determined that we will begin working to facilitate a resolution regarding his future with the team that maximizes the interests of both parties," Pistons general manager Troy Weaver said in a statement Monday. "We respect all the effort Blake has put forth in Detroit and his career and will work to achieve a positive outcome for all involved.” Griffin, who turns 32 next month, came to Detroit in a trade during the 2017-18 season, but the Pistons have made just one postseason appearance with him and have spent much of the last year overhauling their roster in earnest. Detroit is 8-19 this season, and Griffin has already missed seven games. If he is traded or leaves via a buyout, it could give the popular veteran... [More]
