Fri Oct 22 202109:04Stephen Curry Scores 45 Points In Win Over Clippers
Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry was scorching hot in the team's 115-113 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday. He shot 16-for-25 from the field, including 8-for-13 from downtown, on the way to a game-high 45 points. He was also a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw strike and he added 10 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block while committing six turnovers. Curry has the Warriors off to a 2-0 start to the year and he looks primed for yet another monster offensive season. He'll look to stay hot in his next game against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday.

Wed Oct 20 202107:43Stephen Curry Gets Things Started With A Triple-Double
Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry started the season with a 21-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist triple-double in a 121-114 win over the Lakers on opening night. He also had three steals with four turnovers in 36 minutes on the court. Curry was perfect at the line with nine attempts but didn't have a particularly great shooting night overall, going 2-for-8 with the three-ball and 5-for-21 overall from the field. We can say this was just a warm-up for the former MVP. He's set to fight for the scoring title again and look for him to be much more efficient in the next game against the Clippers.

Tue Aug 3 202121:53Stephen Curry Agrees To Contract Extension
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has agreed to a four-year, $215 contract extension. Although Curry has battled injuries throughout the years, he resumed his elite-level play last season, averaging 32 points, 5.8 assists, and 1.2 steals while shooting just over 42 percent from deep. Fantasy managers should consider the former MVP a top-10 fantasy option. Still, outside of dynasty formats, nobody could argue with anyone who views him as the No. 1 choice in upcoming fantasy drafts.

Tue Jun 15 202118:4576ers, Jazz head home in tied series with ailing stars
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Joel Embiid and the 76ers barely have a leg to stand on. Embiid can’t jump. He can’t get any lift in his shots -- notable in a blown layup that should have won Game 4 -- and couldn’t make any buckets in the second half. Embiid is day to day. So, now, are the top-seeded Sixers. Embiid continues to suit up and play through torn cartilage in his right knee -- admirably, perhaps -- but at the point of diminishing returns for the Sixers. The big man is hurting as the Sixers return home Wednesday for Game 5 against the Atlanta Hawks. Embiid and Ben Simmons’ failures in Game 4 keyed the Sixers collapse down the stretch and let the Hawks pull away with the win and tie the series 2-2. The Western Conference semifinals between the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers. The Jazz return to Salt Lake City with their young star Donovan Mitchell playing with a sore right ankle and all the momentum in the series now with the Clippers. Sat May 29 202119:22Lakers, Hawks, Mavs look to seize 1st-round control at home
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Lakers, Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks all began their first-round playoff series at a home-court disadvantage. After moving ahead of their higher-seeded opponents with early-series road wins, all three are up 2-1 and in position to move to the brink of the second round Sunday. The stakes are similar in all four NBA playoff games on a tantalizing slate: Atlanta, Dallas and the defending NBA champions will attempt to seize firm control of their series at home, while the heavily favored Brooklyn Nets can do the same in Boston. Los Angeles, Atlanta and Dallas are probably aware of the massive statistical edge for NBA teams with a 3-1 series lead — only 13 of 260 teams in that situation have ever blown it. They also realize Phoenix, New York and the Clippers will play for a split with appropriate intensity. “It’s going to be probably the biggest game in this series unless, it goes to a Game 7,” Lakers forward Anthony Davis said Saturday. “We’re going in... Mon May 24 202116:31GM Myers confident Warriors will re-sign Stephen Curry
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Warriors general manager Bob Myers has little doubt Golden State will sign newly crowned scoring champion Stephen Curry to a contract extension this offseason. “I don’t see any reason not to be optimistic,” Myers said Monday, three days after his team's season ended in a play-in game against the Grizzlies. “He seems like he’s motivated, we’re motivated. I would say pretty confident we’ll get something done.” In December, Curry said discussions were underway and that he is “fully committed.” The two-time NBA MVP signed a $201 million, five-year contract in July 2017 that initially was the richest ever, until James Harden topped it with a $228 million extension from the Rockets. “Obviously, we want Steph back in the worst way," coach Steve Kerr said. “There’s no reason to think why that won’t happen.” The shock of the season's abrupt end hadn't quite sunk in for two-time MVP Curry after Friday's loss at home to the Grizzlies, but he was already looking at what moves might... Sat May 22 202120:20Curry, Warriors look forward to another chance next season
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — All along, Stephen Curry just wanted to play for something at the end after everybody counted out his Golden State Warriors from the beginning. He could only be proud when this group fell just short of the goal, appreciating how sick and saddened his teammates felt when they didn't get it done. The Warriors were eliminated from playoff contention with a 117-112 overtime loss to Memphis on Friday night in the second play-in game. That after losing a 103-100 heartbreaker to LeBron James and the Lakers two days earlier in Los Angeles. “I would love a playoff experience and seven-game series and see how we respond to that challenge. We have two — I call it three playoff games, the last game of the season and these last two play-in situations,” Curry said. "But it’s not how it’s drawn up in terms of the format, and now we have three months to rejuvenate, retool, come back next season, whatever that means. “These last three games, including the homestand, I call it nine games,... Mon May 10 202111:13Wizards' Beal out at least 2 games with strained hamstring
WASHINGTON (AP) — Bradley Beal will miss at least two games because of a strained left hamstring as his Washington Wizards fight for a play-in berth and he duels Stephen Curry for the NBA scoring title. The Wizards announced that Beal will sit out their games at the Atlanta Hawks on Monday and Wednesday. He'll be re-evaluated Friday. The shooting guard was injured Saturday when he scored 50 points in Washington's 133-132 overtime victory at the Indiana Pacers. An MRI exam on Sunday showed that Beal strained his hamstring. He is averaging 31.4 points this season, behind only Golden State Warriors guard Curry, who is putting in 31.9 per game. Beal finished second in the league last season to James Harden. Beal has scored at least 25 points in 71 of his last 82 games; he has eight games this season with at least 40 points. The Wizards entered Monday in ninth place in the Eastern Conference. ___ More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/hub/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Mon Apr 26 202103:09ICU nurse finds inspiration in Curry's motivational verse
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Intensive care unit nurse Shelby Delaney has depended on Stephen Curry's “I Can Do All Things” go-to motivational verse so many times over the years. Those words from the Bible are written inside the No. 30 jersey of Curry's that she has worn beneath her scrubs day after day to get through each daunting moment of the pandemic. Now, she has another incredible option: Curry took the game-worn uniform off his back Sunday night after scoring 37 points in a win over Sacramento, signed it and gave it to this extra-special essential worker. He then scurried down the tunnel shirtless heading to the locker room. Delaney's husband, Robert Crowley, threw his hands in the air urging fans to cheer. “So cool. He’s an incredible human being,” Delaney said afterward. “One of the greatest nights of my life hands down.” Last spring, Curry made a FaceTime video call to Delaney and her colleagues at Oakland’s Alta Bates Summit Medical Center after learning she was wearing his uniform.... Sun Apr 25 202123:09ICU nurse finds inspiration in Stephen Curry's catchphrase
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Shelby Delaney, an intensive care unit nurse, has depended on Stephen Curry's “I Can Do All Things” catchphrase so many times over the years. It is written inside the No. 30 jersey of Curry's that she has worn beneath her scrubs day after day to get through each daunting moment of the pandemic. Last spring, Curry made a FaceTime video call to Delaney and her colleagues at Oakland’s Alta Bates Summit Medical Center after learning she was wearing his uniform. Delaney had it on again Sunday night — with that handwritten ‘I Can Do All Things’ on the inside of the neckline — as she and husband Robert Crowley sat on the floor for Golden State’s game against Sacramento. A season ticket holder at Chase Center who couldn’t attend gifted them the seats. “I’d always dreamed of talking to him, mostly to thank him, because he really has made such an impact on my life and how I carry myself,” said Delaney, a former high school basketball player who later did some coaching. “It kind... Tue Apr 20 202114:57On Basketball: Stephen Curry shooting his way into history
Never. That’s the last time the NBA saw a shooting stretch like the one Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors has assembled over the past few weeks. It’s been 45 years since the last instance of an NBA MVP being selected from a team that wasn’t at least 10 games over the .500 mark, but Curry has shot his way into serious consideration. He’s averaging 31.4 points on 49% shooting this season; the only other season in which he averaged more than 30 points was 2015-16, when he averaged 30.1 on 50% shooting — and was the unanimous MVP. Those Warriors were 73-9. These Warriors are 29-29. That’s the big difference, the biggest reason why Curry isn’t even more prevalent in the MVP talks. “He’s never played any better, that’s for sure,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “It’s been incredible to watch.” Bob Pettit and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are the only players to win MVP awards on teams that had winning percentages below .560. The award typically goes to the best player on a team that finishes high... [More]
Fri Apr 2 202102:04At last, Oladipo finally gets his chance to play with Heat
MIAMI (AP) — Victor Oladipo got swept out of the first round of the playoffs last season by Miami, and when that series concluded he had no doubt the Heat would end up in the NBA Finals. He was right. And now, he’s got a chance to help them make this season’s playoff push. Oladipo has been an offseason Miami resident, and now, he’s finally an in-season one as well. He started in his Heat debut Thursday night, helping Miami get over the .500 mark with a 116-109 win over the Golden State Warriors. “He’s a veteran guy, he’s played in good programs on good teams, so he knows how to fit in,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “I think defensively, it’s extremely natural, the fit. And offensively, he gives us that downhill attack, another guy that can make plays, another guy that can put pressure on opposing defenses in the paint.” It’s a fit that has been a long time coming. Oladipo is close with Miami legend Dwayne Wade — Oladipo played at Indiana for Tom Crean, Wade’s coach at Marquette — and... [More]
Wed Mar 10 202122:56Warriors rookie Wiseman misses COVID-19 test, can't practice
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Golden State Warriors rookie big man James Wiseman missed a mandatory COVID-19 test during All-Star break weekend and had to be held out of practice when the team reconvened Wednesday night — and coach Steve Kerr called it “disappointing.” Wiseman's status remained unclear for a road game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night. The No. 2 overall draft pick last year out of Memphis, Wiseman is averaging 11.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 20.8 minutes. “It was a mistake. He just forgot," Kerr said. "So it’s disappointing because he could have used the practice tonight. We need him out there. So it’s disappointing that he made the mistake.” Wiseman, who turns 20 on March 31, stayed in San Francisco during the break, according to Kerr. The NBA alerted the Warriors on Wednesday the rookie center couldn’t practice. Stephen Curry hopes Wiseman will use this a valuable learning opportunity. The two-time MVP saw the 7-foot center earlier Wednesday. “It's what you have... [More]
Tue Mar 9 202112:05Offense winning in NBA, Nets want to prove it in playoffs
NEW YORK (AP) — Defense wins championships is one of the oldest clichés in sports. It’s mostly been true, too. Now, even coaches who preached defense before look around an NBA where the pace is quicker, the shots come from deeper, and can come to only one conclusion. “It seems like offense wins,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. That’s what the Brooklyn Nets are looking to prove with an NBA title. Perhaps no team has ever packed so much offensive punch. Kevin Durant is a four-time NBA scoring champion. James Harden has won three. They’ve both been league MVPs. Kyrie Irving is a perennial All-Star who hit the winning shot to cap the biggest NBA Finals comeback ever. “You look at Kyrie, Durant, Harden. (Spencer) Dinwiddie’s out, he’s a terrific player. He’s an All-Star-caliber talent,” Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said. “So, they’re up there with the best of them.” Stopping one is possible. Stopping two is doable. Stopping all three the four times it would require to beat Brooklyn in a series... [More]
Fri Feb 12 202117:06Durant back with Nets, can return Saturday to Golden State
NEW YORK (AP) — Kevin Durant is back on the court, just in time to go back to the Bay Area. Durant rejoined the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, a day ahead of his return to the place where Stephen Curry said the Warriors played “some of the best basketball l think the world has ever seen” when Durant was one of them. “That was an amazing three years of a moment in time,” Curry said. Now in his first season playing for the Nets, Durant is set to resume what's been a stop-and-start season for the star forward. He has missed three games for coronavirus health and safety protocol reasons, facing a mandatory seven-day quarantine after being a close contact of a team employee who tested positive for the virus. Golden State's players were certainly planning on him to play. The trouble started in a bizarre and frustrating night for Durant and the Nets against Toronto last Friday. Durant was told he couldn't start the game shortly before tipoff, then was cleared to enter in the first quarter, resulting... [More]

Mon Feb 1 202119:42Warriors rookie Wiseman out at least a week with hurt wrist
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Golden State Warriors rookie James Wiseman will be sidelined more than a week with a sprained left wrist that the 7-foot center injured against Detroit on Saturday. “It’s a concern any time you lose anybody for any stretch of time, especially a guy that is in the rotation, but we'll figure it out,” guard Stephen Curry said. “Injuries are obviously part of every season, no matter when they come. You've just got to be able to adjust.” Wiseman landed on his wrist when he was bumped coming down from a dunk off an alley-oop pass by Draymond Green with 6:21 remaining in the third quarter of the 118-91 rout of the Pistons but kept playing. Wiseman had an MRI exam on Sunday, coach Steve Kerr said. “It’s a bummer but at least it’s not anything worse and he should be back in 10 days or so,” Kerr said. The big man, who came off the bench the past four games as Kerr switched up his starting lineup, is wearing a brace and scheduled to be re-evaluated in a week to 10 days. Veteran... [More]
