"I'm retiring from the game of baseball," Jones said. "I gave it everything I had. There just wasn't much need out there for a 27-year-old broke-down, struggling minor league pitcher, former first-rounder or not." The 12th overall pick back in 2001, Jones never lived up to expectations, though three different surgeries didn't help. | ||||||

Jones was selected 12th overall in the first round of the 2001 MLB amateur draft, but obviously never lived up to expectations for the Brew Crew. In 19 appearances between Double-A and Triple-A this season, he had a 1.55 WHIP and a 25/29 K/BB ratio. Jones is only 27, so maybe he'll get a shot elsewhere. | ||||||
