Fri Mar 30 201222:59DeWayne Wise homers twice for Yankees
DeWayne Wise hit a pair of homers as part of the Yankees' 13-9 win over the Phillies on Friday.
Wise picked a bad team to sign a minor league deal with in January, as he entered the spring no higher than seventh on the outfield depth chart. He's had a nice March with a .412 average in 34 at-bats, but it's not very likely that someone will trade for him and give him a job.

Mon Jun 20 201123:47Marlins lose 2-1 to Angels, now 1-19 in June
DeWayne Wise went 1-for-2 with the Marlins' lone RBI in their 2-1 loss to the Angels on Monday.
Playing for their third manager in as many days, the Marlins still produced the same result, a loss. Now a stunning 1-19 in the month of June, the Marlins are in a free-fall of unimaginable proportions. As for Wise, don't be shocked if he's off the 25-man roster by this time next month.

Sat Jun 18 201110:34Wise, Bonifacio to platoon in CF
Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez plans to platoon DeWayne Wise and Emilio Bonifacio in center field following the demotion of Chris Coghlan.
It's what we assumed, though since Wise swings left-handed and Bonifacio is a switch-hitter, it won't be a strict platoon. Wise started on Friday and figures to see a bit more playing time in center, with Bonifacio still getting some at-bats at other positions. "We all know what kind of hitter he is. He can help us here. But he's here because of his defense,'' Rodriguez said of Wise. "... I think we need that experienced fielder out there, and I think he'll be the guy."

Blue Jays signed OF DeWayne Wise to a minor league contract.

Wed Jun 2 201017:06OF Wise opts out of minors deal w/ Phillies
DeWayne Wise exercised an out-clause in his minor league contract and is now a free agent.
Wise, 32, was able to opt out on June 1 and chose to do so. He batted just .225/.262/.366 in 142 at-bats with the White Sox in 2009 -- memorably saving Mark Buehrle's perfect game in July -- and did not garner a major league deal on the free agent market. He isn't likely to do so this time around either, but could provide decent outfield insurance for some team at Triple-A.
