Sun Apr 13 201421:41Brian Roberts out Sunday with back injury
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman confirmed that Brian Roberts was out of the Yankees lineup on Sunday due to a back injury.
With an extremely long and lengthy injury history, including several recurring back problems, this is certainly something fantasy owners should take note of. No word yet on the severity of the injury or how much time, if any, he may miss.

Wed Apr 2 201423:41Roberts enjoys three-hit day vs. Astros
Brian Roberts went 3-for-4 against the Astros on Wednesday.
All three hits were singles. Roberts, 36, is taking over at second base in the Bronx for the departed Robinson Cano. The veteran has had trouble staying on the field since 2010. If he can manage to stay healthy, he may have some limited value in the batting average and stolen base categories.

Wed Mar 12 201417:26Brian Roberts struggling this spring
Brian Roberts went 0-for-3 against the Tigers on Wednesday, leaving him 2-for-17 this spring.
It sounds like Roberts need only get through the spring healthy in order to ensure himself a starting job, but it's not like he was particularly good offensively (.249/.312/.392 in 265 AB) or defensively for the Orioles last season. The Yankees will let him prove himself in April, but there's no reason to give him too much rope if he doesn't hit.

Mon Jan 13 201411:00Yankees finalize $2M deal with Brian Roberts
Yankees signed 2B Brian Roberts to a one-year, $2 million contract.
The deal was agreed to almost a month ago, but the Yankees had to wait for the conclusion of the Alex Rodriguez suspension appeal to officially add Roberts to their 40-man roster. He is taking A-Rod's roster spot and will be in line for a good amount of playing time at second base in 2014. Kelly Johnson is expected to start at third.

Tue Dec 17 201308:48Report: Yankees sign Roberts for 1-year, $2MM
The Yankees will sign Brian Roberts to a one-year deal worth $2 million plus incentives, reports Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.
Morosi's colleague, Ken Rosenthal, first reported news of the Roberts-Yankees marriage on Monday evening. Roberts averaged 152 games played per year and posted a robust .290/.365/.438 slash line between 2004-09, but his career has been wrecked by injuries since. He's averaged just 48 games played per season over the past four years, and posted a sickly .246/.310/.359 line when he's been on the field over that period. New York seems likely to host a second base competition between the 36-year-old Roberts and Kelly Johnson, but counting on Roberts to stay healthy for more than a third of the season is a losing proposition. At least the price was right.

Tue Dec 17 201300:06Yankees to sign veteran 2B Brian Roberts
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Yankees are likely to sign Brian Roberts.
There's no word on the terms, but it'll likely be a one-year deal with a low base salary. Roberts would give the Yanks another option at second base along with Kelly Johnson, as the two could form a platoon following the departure of Robinson Cano. The 36-year-old is obviously a poor bet to stay healthy after averaging just 48 games played over the last four seasons.

Sat Dec 14 201312:05Yankees have little interest in Brian Roberts
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Yankees have little interest in free agent second baseman Brian Roberts.
It had been reported earlier in the week that the Bombers talked to Roberts' agent, but it appears that the were merely checking in. The oft-injured 36 year-old has averaged only 48 games played over the last four seasons.

Mon Dec 9 201316:51Yanks have talked to B-Rob's agent
Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports that the Yankees have talked to Brian Roberts' agent.
It's unclear whether they just checked in or have legitimate interest in a deal. Roberts played in 77 games this past season -- his most since 2009 -- but he batted just .249/.312/.392 with eight home runs and 39 RBI over 277 plate appearances. The Orioles haven't ruled out bringing him back, but appear content with internal options.

Sun Oct 6 201309:43Orioles could re-sign Brian Roberts
Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun writes that the Orioles will "explore" re-signing Brian Roberts to a one-year contract.
Roberts never played more than 77 games in any season during his four-year, $40 million deal that will expire after the World Series. He managed to stay healthy over the final three months this season, though, and finished strong with five September homers. If he does return, he'd just be keeping second base warm for Jonathan Schoop. Encina also notes that the O's will consider bringing back Nate McLouth on a one-year pact.

Sat Sep 21 201311:12Brian Roberts not in Orioles lineup Saturday
Brian Roberts is not in the Orioles starting lineup on Saturday.
It's merely a day of rest for the veteran second baseman after Friday's marathon affair against the Rays. Alexi Casilla will get the start at second base and hit ninth for the O's against Alex Cobb.

Mon Aug 19 201308:41Brian Roberts contributing again for the O's
Brian Roberts has registered consecutive multi-RBI games for the first time since the 2011 season.
Roberts is finally healthy and providing a major upgrade at second base for the Orioles. "This is what I've been waiting for, for a long time," the veteran said Sunday. "I've wanted to be able to get out there and play every day and be on a team that's good and in a pennant race." He doesn't steal bases anymore but can still provide sneaky fantasy value down the stretch.

Wed Aug 14 201320:12Brian Roberts goes 3-for-6 against Arizona
Brian Roberts went 3-for-6 on Wednesday and 7-for-13 in the three-game series against the Diamondbacks.
The three-hit game was his first of the season, and he raised his average from .234 to .266 in the series. He's still not providing a lot of fantasy value since he's not a basestealer these days, but he's been an upgrade at second base for the Orioles.

Tue Aug 6 201314:07Orioles activate Roberts from paternity leave
Orioles activated 2B Brian Roberts from the paternity leave list.
Roberts was away from the Orioles for a couple of days so he could be present for the birth of his first child. Danny Valencia was optioned back to Triple-A in a corresponding roster move.

Thu Jul 11 201323:08Brian Roberts homers against Rangers
Brian Roberts hit his second homer of the season Thursday versus the Rangers.
Roberts has driven in runs in four straight games, though given that he's just 3-for-13 in that span, it wouldn't be appropriate to say it's a hot streak. The Orioles figure to continue batting him low in the order for the foreseeable future.

Wed Jul 3 201301:37Roberts hits first homer of year in O's loss
Brian Roberts went 1-for-4 with his first home run of the season in the Orioles' loss on Tuesday.
Roberts showed off by taking fellow left-hander John Danks deep in the third inning, his first home run since 2011. Now healthy -- emphasis on "now" -- Roberts is the Orioles' primary second base option and, despite offering little-to-no pop, has legitimate speed and on-base ability.

Sun Jun 30 201315:49Brian Roberts activated from disabled list
Orioles activated 2B Brian Roberts from the 60-day disabled list.
Roberts has been out since early April following hamstring surgery, but he's ready to give it a go again after getting through four rehab games with no issues. The veteran second baseman had five hits in his first 12 at-bats before getting hurt and is worth using in fantasy leagues as long as he can manage to stay healthy.

Brian Roberts (hamstring) will be activated from the disabled list Sunday
Roberts, out since early April, was cleared after a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk this week. While he can't be trusted to stay healthy, Roberts will provide an immediate upgrade at second base for the Orioles.

Thu Jun 27 201316:21Roberts (hamstring) to return this weekend
Brian Roberts (hamstring) is expected to be activated from this disabled list for this weekend's series against the Yankees.
Roberts, who is coming back from hamstring surgery, went 2-for-4 with a double in his first rehab game Tuesday and walked twice in a suspended game on Wednesday night. Orioles manager Buck Showalter said he'll be the regular second baseman upon his return, so while he can't be trusted to stay healthy, he should be relevant in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues.
