New York Mets starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco could not come through in a big start Tuesday, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk in three innings to the lowly Miami Marlins. Carrasco struck out two batters. He also took the loss, dropping his season record to 15-7. This is the fourth start in his last six that Carrasco couldn't go more than four innings. He has a decent 3.95 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with 149 strikeouts in 148 innings this season, but that won't be much solace to fantasy managers and Mets fans.

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Marcus Stroman was strong Tuesday, allowing one run on four hits and a walk in seven innings against the Philadelphia Phillies. He earned his fifth win of the season, outdueling Zack Wheeler as the Cubs triumphed 2-1. Stroman struck out six batters. After a difficult April, Stroman has regained his signature steadiness, and he's finishing strong with four starts of at least six innings in his last five trips to the mound. He will have one more chance to improve on his 3.66 ERA and 1.15 WHIP through 132 2/3 innings and 24 starts in 2022.

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas matched his season high in strikeouts Tuesday, setting down nine Brewers in a 6-2 win over Milwaukee. Mikolas pitched six innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk to earn his 12th win of the year against 13 losses. With his 3.30 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 199 1/3 innings this season, Mikolas has been durable and effective for fantasy managers. He lines up for one more regular-season start to tune up for the playoffs.

Seattle Mariners third baseman Eugenio Suarez (finger) has been activated from the injured list and is back in the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Texas Rangers and right-hander Jesus Tinoco, serving as the designated hitter while batting cleanup. Suarez missed the minimum amount of time on the 10-day injured list after dealing with a small fracture on the tip of his right index finger. Fantasy managers will be hoping it won't affect his power stroke to close out the 2022 regular season. The 31-year-old veteran slugger has been great for the M's and fantasy managers this year, hitting .235/.335/.470 with an .805 OPS, 31 home runs, 84 RBI and 72 runs scored in 511 at-bats.

The Los Angeles Dodgers activated left-handed relief pitcher David Price (wrist) from the 15-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned right-hander Andre Jackson to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move. Price has been out for almost a month with wrist inflammation, but he'll rejoin the team for the tail end of the regular season and for the start of the playoffs in October. The 37-year-old veteran southpaw's days of fantasy relevance are over, but he's still been a solid real-life piece to the Dodgers bullpen in 2022 when he's been healthy. In 38 1/3 innings over 38 appearances, he has a 2.58 ERA (3.85 FIP), a 1.17 WHIP, one save and 37 strikeouts.

The Philadelphia Phillies reinstated outfielder Nick Castellanos (oblique) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned catcher Donny Sands to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move. Castellanos is starting in right field and is hitting sixth on Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs and right-hander Marcus Stroman. The 30-year-old Castellanos missed almost a month with a right oblique strain and didn't go on a minor league rehab assignment, so it remains to be seen how effective he'll be at the plate for fantasy managers to close out what has been a very disappointing first year in Philly. He's returning to a .265/.305/.397 slash line with 13 home runs, 61 RBI, 53 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 499 at-bats. Castellanos made the All-Star team for the first time in 2021 and hit .309 with a career-high 34 home runs and 100 RBI.

Miami Marlins outfielder Avisail Garcia (hamstring) went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout while serving as the designated hitter in his first minor league rehab game with Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday. Barring a setback on what will likely be a short rehab assignment in the minors, Garcia should return from the injured list at some point this week to finish off the 2022 regular season in the big leagues. After hitting a career-high 29 home runs with the Milwaukee Brewers last year, the 31-year-old Venezuelan slugger has disappointed with the Fish and is currently batting .230/.267/.316 with only seven home runs, 31 RBI, 29 runs scored and four stolen bases in 339 at-bats.

Boston Red Sox first baseman Eric Hosmer (back) is now on track to play some games down the stretch, possibly as soon as later this week. Top prospect Triston Casas has been getting most of the playing time at first base, but Hosmer could get some games in the field and also some at designated hitter when he returns from the injured list. Hosmer has played in just 12 games since being acquired from the San Diego Padres at the Aug. 2 trade deadline. "Moving better," said manager Alex Cora. "There's a chance we might get him toward the end of the week. There's a good chance. He's improved and is making strides. That's good." Hosmer has gone just 9-for-40 (.225) with no homers and four RBI in his 12 games for Boston before going on the IL.

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman kept his team in the game in Monday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Yankees. Gausman took a no-decision but pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits (including a solo home run) and a walk with seven strikeouts. Gausman has now been a high-end fantasy starter for three straight seasons, going 12-10 with a 3.30 ERA and 10.54 K/9 rate through 30 starts. He will have the opportunity to wrap up the regular season on a high note with his final matchup coming at home against the Red Sox.

Miami Marlins outfielder Avisail Garcia (hamstring) and right-hander Tommy Nance (groin) will start a minor league rehab assignment on Monday with Triple-A Jacksonville. As long as Garcia doesn't suffer any setbacks in the minors, he should be able to rejoin the Fish for the final few days of the 2022 regular season. The 31-year-old has been on the shelf for the last two weeks with a left hamstring strain, but he's getting closer to returning to the starting lineup. Garcia has been a disappointment in his first year in Miami with a .230/.267/.316 slash line, seven home runs, 31 RBI, 29 runs scored and four stolen bases in 93 games after hitting a career-high 29 long balls last year for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Seattle Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto said that third baseman Eugenio Suarez (finger) will likely be ready to return from the 10-day injured list to serve as the designated hitter on Tuesday against the Texas Rangers. Suarez initially landed on the injured list on Sept. 17 with a small fracture on the tip of his right index finger, but he's ready to return to Seattle's lineup for the home stretch of the regular season. It's great news for fantasy managers that need a little more power to win a fantasy title in 2022. The 31-year-old veteran is slashing .235/.335/.470 with an .805 OPS, 31 home runs, 84 RBI and 72 runs scored in his first year with the M's.

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, an RBI, three runs scored and a walk in the 10-3 blowout win over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday. In the process he extended his modest hitting streak to five games. Amidst another disappointing season for the Angels, the 31-year-old All-Star is slashing .278/.364/.619 with a .983 OPS, 37 home runs, 77 RBI, 79 runs scored and a stolen base in 407 at-bats. The 10-time All-Star is closing out the 2022 season strong, as he's hitting .308 (24-for-78) with nine home runs, 19 RBI and 17 runs scored in 20 games in the month of September so far. He remains a must-start across all fantasy formats in the final stretch of the season.

Colorado Rockies first baseman C.J. Cron (hand) has returned to the starting lineup on Sunday against the San Diego Padres. The veteran slugger missed the previous three games with a sore hand after being hit by a pitch on Wednesday but he's locked in on Sunday and batting cleanup. Cron has mashed 29 home runs with a career-high 101 RBI on the season.

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos (oblique) will return to the team next week and forego a minor league rehab assignment, according to interim manager Rob Thompson. The 30-year-old outfielder, who has been out since early September, plans to do a full workout on Saturday and Sunday and hopes to rejoin the team for their series against the Chicago Cubs next weekend. If all goes according to plan, he would skip a minor league rehab assignment altogether. The team should provide an update on his status towards the end of this weekend. Castellanos is slashing .265/.305/.397 with 13 home runs, 61 RBI and seven stolen bases over 499 at-bats in what has been an underwhelming first season in Philadelphia.

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi had a start to forget on Friday night against the Philadelphia Phillies, as he surrendered eight earned runs on 10 hits (one homer) while walking three and striking out six in four innings in the 9-1 loss. It was his worst performance since being acquired from the Houston Astros at the trade deadline, and he's now gone 1-3 with a 5.97 ERA (5.31 FIP), a 1.62 WHIP, 33 strikeouts and 14 walks in 37 2/3 innings and eight starts with Atlanta. In three starts in September, Odorizzi has allowed 13 earned runs on 17 hits (two homers) while walking seven and striking out 14. Despite his disappointing performances with the Braves so far, the 32-year-old veteran right-hander should remain in the starting rotation the rest of the way.

Boston Red Sox designated hitter J.D. Martinez is not in the starting lineup on Saturday against the New York Yankees. Martinez is just taking a day off on Saturday, but fantasy managers need to act accordingly and remove him from their lineups as well. The veteran right-handed slugger has just 12 home runs on the season and is hitting .254 (15-for-59) with a homer, five RBI, six runs scored and 17 strikeouts in 16 September games. Martinez isn't having the year that fantasy managers expected when they drafted him. Bobby Dalbec is the designated hitter and is batting seventh on Saturday against Yankees right-hander Domingo German. In 304 at-bats in 2022, Dalbec is slashing just .211/.282/.362 with 11 homers, 36 RBI, 38 runs and three stolen bases.

St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols became only the fourth player in baseball history to reach the 700-home run mark in the 11-0 blowout win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday. Pujols went 2-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI, two runs scored and a strikeout in the contest to make history on Friday night at Dodger Stadium. The 42-year-old future first-ballot Hall of Famer has cooled off a bit in the season's final month, but he's still excelling against left-handed pitchers and will remain a key part of the Cardinals' postseason run this year. He's hit .250 (15-for-60) with six home runs, 17 RBI and six runs scored in 20 games so far in the season's final month.

Minnesota Twins infielder Jorge Polanco (knee) continues to deal with a lingering issue that could sideline him for the rest of the season. Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey mentioned that Polanco is still battling with his left knee soreness. That being said, it seems extremely unlikely that Polanco gets back on the field this season. He wasn't hitting that well, so the team will likely opt to rest him over taking a risk and having him suffer a worse injury. Before going down, Polanco was hitting .235/.346/.405 with 16 long balls, 56 RBI through 104 games. Fantasy managers should look for another option if they still roster Polanco.

Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts is not in the starting lineup Friday against the New York Yankees. It appears to be a routine day of rest for the 29-year-old, who has played in 140 out of 149 games so far this season. As he has for most of the season, Bogaerts is having a terrific September, slashing .355/.423/.516 with two homers, 13 runs scored, and eight RBI. He should be back Saturday, and fantasy managers in daily leagues will want to get him right back in their lineups. Even with a lack of power this season, the slick shortstop should be drafted fairly high once again next year.

Washington Nationals designated hitter Nelson Cruz (eye) remains out of the starting lineup on Friday against the Miami Marlins. Cruz is limping to the finish line in 2022 and hasn't played in the last eight games due to left eye inflammation. Fantasy managers should consider the aging slugger to be day-to-day. The 42-year-old Dominican DH is hitting just .234/.313/.337 with 10 home runs, 64 RBI, 50 runs scored and four stolen bases in his 448 at-bats in D.C. this year. Luke Voit is the DH again on Friday and is hitting cleanup against Marlins left-hander Braxton Garrett. Voit has actually been better against right-handed pitching this year, and he's hitting .169 (23-for-136) with only two of his 21 home runs against southpaws.
