Putnam has been dealing with a sore leg and likely won't be available out of the bullpen for Monday's game against Boston, although manager Robin Ventura doesn't believe the injury to be serious, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun Times reports.

Putnam hasn't pitched since Aug. 19 and Ventura intimated that the reliever was held out this past weekend as a result of his soreness. Obviously time away from the mound should help remedy Putnam's minor issue, so his return could certainly occur during Chicago's current series with the Red Sox.

Putnam (finger) struck out the side in a scoreless eighth inning against the Tigers on Friday.

The right-hander was unavailable Thursday due to a finger issue, but he showed no ill effects Saturday in his first appearance since May 29. While Putnam has posted a 4.08 ERA in 19 appearances this season, more than double his 2014 mark, he's striking batters out at a strong 33.8 percent clip and holding opponents to a .224 average.

Putnam was unavailable during Thursday's 11-inning loss to the Rangers due to a finger issue, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Putnam has gone unused in the White Sox's last five games, but there doesn't seem to be much concern just yet that he'll be bound for the disabled list as a result of the injury. He could be cleared for a return to action at some point during the team's weekend series against the Tigers.

Putnam allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits an inning of work against the Twins on Friday.

This was the second clunker in as many appearances for Putnam, who had also allowed a pair of runs Wednesday against the Royals. Putnam was one of the White Sox's most reliable relievers in 2014, but he may find himself out of favor (or out of the majors) if this run continues.

Putnam allowed three runs on two hits and a walk in the ninth inning against the Cubs on Friday.

This was a high scoring affair (a total of 17 runs were scored), and Putnam was just one of four White Sox pitchers to allow multiple runs. Closer-to-be David Robertson has struggled this spring, and Putnam is likely on the list of replacements if Robertson's long leash gets tightened at any point.

Putnam pitched a perfect ninth against the Royals on Tuesday to earn his fifth save of the season.

Jake Petricka blew the save Monday, so manager Robin Ventura turned to Putnam, who only needed seven pitches to record three groundouts. Petricka remains the team's ninth inning man, but Putnam is the clear No. 2.

Putnam recorded the final out of Wednesday's win over the Indians to pick up his fourth save of the season.

The save was Putnam's first since July 19. Jacob Petricka appears to be ahead of him on the depth chart for the closer role at the present time, but Putnam may see the occasional situational opportunity when Petricka is unavailable.

Putnam (shoulder) was reinstated from the 15-day DL Friday.

In 33 appearances out of the bullpen this season, Putnam has a 2.35 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP, while notching three saves. Jacob Petricka appears to have the closer job right now, but if he stumbles down the stretch, Putnam could be an option for a couple save opportunities.

Lindstrom, by the way, is expected back in a couple weeks.
