1B Miguel Cabrera was pulled after seven innings Sunday to give him a few minutes of rest. He'll be back in the starting lineup Monday in Seattle. Cabrera's seventh home run of the season Saturday broke a tie with Carl Yastrzemski and put him nine home runs shy of Jose Canseco and Adam Dunn, who share the 35th spot all-time.

DH Miguel Cabrera served as Detroit's designated hitter Friday night in the absence of DH Victor Martinez, placed on the disabled list with an irregular heartbeat. "It may be depending on the opposing pitcher," manager Brad Ausmus said of his DH situation. "There may be some kind of rotation. Kevin Rand came and said Miggy's hip was bothering him. So I just figured the obvious choice would be Miggy. As long as he's able to hit. Of course, Miggy being Miggy, said, 'Why don't you DH Alex (Avila)?' I said that's a good idea and I might some time but I figure if we can get you off your feet rather than standing for nine innings, maybe we can knock this thing out." Cabrera doubled and scored a run in the five-run fifth but also had a key walk to help Detroit score five times in the fourth. He may be back at first base Saturday.

1B Miguel Cabrera may not be a horse all the time these days, but he's not a dead horse either. Without a home run since May 20, Cabrera ended a 22-game drought with a walkoff two-run home run in the ninth Friday night that gave Detroit a 5-3 win over Tampa Bay. It was his sixth home run of the season and seventh career walkoff blast. The lack of home runs contributed to Cabrera driving in just 12 runs in those 22 games, but he still had a .316 batting average (25x79) with 10 doubles in that time.

1B Miguel Cabrera has not hit a home run since May 20 and only two since coming off the disabled list May 2, but manager Brad Ausmus professes not to be worried "in any way, shape or form. I think every year we've had this discussion about Miguel Cabrera. Is Miggy finally getting older" Is he struggling? The last two years kind of speak for themselves. Last year he had an unbelievable last two months, between he and (Justin) Upton (they) carried us offensively. I am not worried about Miguel Cabrera at all. I wish I struggled to hit .270." Cabrera doubled to right center (it was about two inches shy of being an RBI double) and singled to left in four at-bats Wednesday night.

1B Miguel Cabrera had a pair of doubles Tuesday night but it looked on both like he's having problems running. Cabrera never acknowledges any health issues until they're over so you have to watch every move to see if there's any sign of injury or illness. He was slow out of the box on his second double to right, which looked initially like it was going to be caught. He was very slow on his first double, to right center. Cabrera turned a sparkling 3-2-3 double play with the bases loaded and nobody out in the seventh to get Detroit out of a jam.

Sat May 20 201704:341B Miguel Cabrera returns to Detroit's lineup Saturday
1B Miguel Cabrera returns to Detroit's lineup Saturday, according to manager Brad Ausmus. "He was actually available to pinch hit (Friday)," manager Brad Ausmus said, "But there wasn't a spot. I didn't want to use him just to use him. If I was going to use him, I was going to use him in a spot where he could tie or win the game. Ideally I'd like him to have another full day and night to rest, but I'd be shocked if he wasn't playing (Saturday)." Cabrera missed three games with a sore left side.
