Tue Jul 9 201321:26Brian Bogusevic likely to start Thursday
Brian Bogusevic (hamstring) is likely to return to the lineup on Thursday.
Bogusevic has been limited to pinch-hitting duty since leaving last Thursday with left hamstring tightness. "He's pretty close," Cubs manager Dale Sveum said. "It looks like the way things have gone the last couple days, by the Cardinals series on Thursday, he should be ready to play in a game."

Sun Jun 30 201314:50Brian Bogusevic will start in CF for Cubs
Brian Bogusevic will start in center field with David DeJesus (shoulder) and Ryan Sweeney (rib) out.
Julio Borbon could also see some action, but it appears that Bogusevic will get the bulk of the starts. Bogusevic has four hits in 17 at-bats since being called up and can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Tue Jun 25 201312:43Cubs calling up Bogusevic from Triple-A
Cubs purchased the contract of OF Brian Bogusevic from Triple-A Iowa.
Carlos Marmol was designated for assignment in order to clear a spot for him on the 40-man roster. Bogusevic has some speed and pop, but owns a lowly .227/.310/.346 batting line over 618 plate appearances in the majors.

Sat Nov 3 201209:44Astros outright Bogusevic from 40-man roster
Astros sent OF Brian Bogusevic outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Bogusevic started for the Astros on Opening Day but struggled mightily in his first full season in the majors. The 28-year-old batted just .203/.297/.299 with seven homers, 28 RBI and 15 stolen bases in 146 games. He's now off the 40-man roster.

Sat Sep 29 201222:27Bogusevic belts pinch-hit homer in loss
Brian Bogusevic belted a pinch-hit two-run homer in a losing effort against the Brewers on Saturday.
Bogusevic's blast was the second of three Astros homers in the ninth inning, but it still wasn't enough to complete the comeback. He's had a very disappointing season, hitting just .203/.296/.299 with seven homers, 28 RBI and 15 stolen bases across 354 at-bats.

Fri Jun 29 201202:10Bogusevic's two-run shot is lone offense
Brian Bogusevic launched a two-run homer off Andrew Cashner in Tuesday's loss to the Padres.
Cashner had cruised through the first six innings before allowing his first hit to Carlos Lee in the seventh inning. Bogusevic immediately followed with his two-run jack, putting the Astros on top 2-1 at the time. While he is no longer seeing consistent at-bats, he should see a slight bump in playing time with Justin Maxwell on the DL.

Mon May 28 201223:50Brian Bogusevic has big night
Brian Bogusevic went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer in Monday's loss to the Rockies.
Bogusevic batted third in the Astros' order, which says much more about their lineup than Bogusevic's skill set. The big night pushes his average up to .225, and he now has two longballs and 12 RBI for the year.

Sun Mar 25 201217:10Brian Bogusevic reaches four times
The slumping Brian Bogusevic had two hits and two walks Sunday against the Pirates.
Bogusevic was hitting just .125 in 32 at-bats for the spring. Despite his struggles, he still figures to be a big part of the right field mix for the Astros. He's out of options, and the Astros won't want to risk losing him.

Fri Mar 23 201209:51Brian Bogusevic the favorite for RF job
Astros manager Brad Mills said Brian Bogusevic has a leg up in the competition for the right field job.
It's certainly not anything he's done in spring training that has him ahead of the pack, as he's batting just .115/.233/.154. Travis Buck is hitting .350 over 20 at-bats, while Jack Cust is hitless in 24 at-bats. Bogusevic is merely a deep NL-only league play with an everyday job.

Mon Mar 19 201216:48Brian Bogusevic struggling for Astros
The slumping Brian Bogusevic went 0-for-3 with a strikeout Monday against the Marlins.
Bogusevic is 3-for-24 with no RBI and seven strikouts this spring. The Astros were hoping he'd secure a job as the starting right fielder against right-handed pitching, but he's definitely lost some ground. The door could be open for Travis Buck or Jack Cust to start. Buck is the candidate having a terrific spring, with a .438 average in 16 at-bats. Cust, on the other hand, is doing even worse than Bogusevic, having gone 0-for-20 so far.

Sun Aug 28 201117:44Astros manager to continue platoon in right
Astros manager Brad Mills will continue to employ a platoon in right field, with Brian Bogusevic still only starting against right-handed pitching.
Bogusevic has only five at-bats, with one hit, against lefties this season. Jason Michaels or Jason Bourgeois will continue to start against left-handers. "J-Mike's with us and in the past he's been a real good hitter against left-handers, so we'd like to give him a chance," Mills said. Houston fans, and fantasy owners, would prefer that Bogusevic start every day, but Mills is apparently not yet ready to do that. "I totally understand that, but at the same time let's give him a little bit more time," he said. "Let things play out a little bit more, and we'll see where he's at."

Wed Aug 24 201118:43Brian Bogusevic goes 3-for-4
Brian Bogusevic went 3-for-4 with a double Wednesday, raising his average to .329.
Bogusevic is forcing the Astros to play him most of the time with the way he's swinging the bat right now. He'll continue to sit against the majority of lefties, but he has some value in NL-only leagues anyway.

Tue Aug 16 201123:22Bogusevic smacks a walk-off grand slam
Brian Bogusevic smacked a walk-off grand slam against Cubs closer Carlos Marmol to send Houston to a thrilling 6-5 victory Tuesday.
Marmol loaded the bases with one out and a 5-2 lead. Bogusevic was inserted as a pinch-hitter for reliever Aneury Rodriguez. He took the sixth pitch he saw from Marmol over the left-center wall, doubling his home run total on the year to two and RBI total to eight. Bogusevic is now 11-for-26 (.423) since rejoining the Astros on July 31. You could do worse for a deep NL-only league flier, especially if he just earned himself more playing time.

Thu Aug 11 201100:30Bogusevic, Astros go quietly
Brian Bogusevic went 1-for-3 with a run scored in Houston's loss to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
Bogusevic is now 7-for-18 (.388) since rejoining the Astros on July 31. You could do worse for an NL-only league flier.

Sun Jul 31 201122:01Stros recall OF Brian Bogusevic from Triple-A
Astros recalled OF Brian Bogusevic from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
The current Astros' lineup could easily be among the worst in baseball history. Bogusevic - who beat writer Richard Justice expects to get playing time in the outfield - is a career .188/.278/.250 hitter over 64 AB at the major league level. He does have a .770 OPS across 1387 minor league ABs and 19 stolen bases, but we'd wait to see him hit at the major league level before considering him for fantasy purposes.

Fri Jul 22 201110:59Bogusevic sent down
Astros optioned OF Brian Bogusevic to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
With Jason Bourgeois over his latest leg injury, Bogusevic gets the heave-ho. He did very little after being recalled on June 29, reaching base just twice in 10 plate appearances. He's not a guarantee to be back in the big leagues before rosters are expanded in September.
