Presley went through waivers unclaimed and will be outrighted to the minors, Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.
He was designated for assignment last week and unsurprisingly went unclaimed passing through waivers. It's possible that Presley spends all year at Triple-A, which illustrates his lack of fantasy intrigue in 2015.
Tue Apr 7 201511:01Presley hit outright waivers on Tuesday
Presley, who was designated for assignment last week, hit outright waivers on Tuesday, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Presley will probably go unclaimed, as he comes with a $1 million salary and has hovered around replacement level since 2011. While he doesn't offer much upside, the 29-year-old could be Houston's first choice when the team eventually needs to replace an injured outfielder.
Wed Apr 1 201510:28Presley designated for assignment by Astros on Wednesday
Presley was designated for assignment by the Astros on Wednesday, Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the Houston Chronicle reports.
With the Astros electing to keep Robbie Grossman as their fourth outfielder and speedy backup middle infielder Jonathan Villar as a potential fifth option, Presley was deemed expendable. The organization still expressed interest in keeping Presley's around as a depth option at Triple-A, but he'll have to clear waivers first after being dropped from the Astros' 40-man roster. Presley slashed .244/.281/.346 across 89 games with the Astros in 2014.

Presley is competing with Robbie Grossman and Jake Marisnick this spring for the Astros' fourth outfielder job, but is hitting just .227 (5-for-22) in 10 appearances thus far.
Both Grossman (.458 spring average) and Marisnick (.333) are out-performing Presley this spring, but the latter might be the favorite to make the Opening Day roster since he's out of minor league options (Grossman has some remaining) and is signed for $1 million this season. Given the circumstances, the Astros could choose to trade Presley before Opening Day, but no matter where he's playing to open 2015, he'll be a valuable bench option with the ability to play all three outfield positions.
Tue Nov 18 201415:09Presley signed one-year
Presley signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Astros on Tuesday, avoiding arbitration, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Presley missed close to two months with an oblique injury last season and finished with just a .244/.281/.346 batting line in 89 games (271 PA), but he has some pop (6 homers) and can play all three outfield positions, giving him value as a bench option. That said, Jake Marisnick or Robbie Grossman will likely open the year as the Astros' top reserve outfielder.

Presley (oblique) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored Wednesday in his third start since returning from the DL.
GM Jeff Luhnow said initially upon Presley's reinstatement from the DL that he wasn't quite ready to play, but the 29-year-old outfielder ended up making a pinch-hit appearance just a day later. Presley returned to the lineup for the first time in two months last Sunday, going hitless in his first two starts back, but smacked a pair of singles in Wednesday's victory over Seattle. He will likely only be a part-time player over the final weeks, spelling Robbie Grossman and Jake Marisnick in the corners here and there.
Tue Sep 2 201418:57Although Presley activated from 15-day DL on Tuesday
Although Presley was activated from the 15-day DL on Tuesday, GM Jeff Luhnow said the outfielder is not yet ready to play, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Presley was able to get in just one rehab game before the minor league season ended, and he will effectively continue his rehabilitation with the big club now that he's active. The Astros had a spot available following roster expansion and can afford to let Presley work himself back with plenty of available options on the bench.
Tue Sep 2 201416:28Presley (oblique) activated from 15-day DL on Tuesday
Presley (oblique) was activated from the 15-day DL on Tuesday.
Presley suffered a setback with his oblique injury in mid-August, necessitating a nearly two-week shutdown period, but the 29-year-old has been cleared to return following a brief minor league rehab assignment. While he was seeing fairly regular time when he hit the shelf, Presley may find starts hard to come by upon his return, with Jake Marisnick now in town and Dexter Fowler healthy.
Sun Aug 31 201414:02Presley (oblique) will begin rehab assignment Monday
Presley (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment Monday, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The Astros still haven't determined what affiliate Presley will join, but regardless, he looks to be closing in on full health. Presley will probably need a few games in the minors before the Astros activate him, likely at some point next week.
Mon Aug 25 201418:57Presley (oblique) on track to be activated in September
Presley (oblique) is on track to be activated in September, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports.
George Springer is also on track to be activated in September, meaning the Astros will have a pretty crowded outfield once Presley is ready to take the field again, which limits his fantasy value to deeper leagues.

Presley experienced a setback with his oblique Saturday at short-season Tri-City and will subsequently be shut down 7-to-10 days, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
In two outings at the affiliate entering Saturday's game, Presley tallied a triple and a run scored in five at-bats. He'll now be hard-pressed to return before August concludes, but when he receives a clean bill of health, he should factor into the outfield mix in Houston.

Presley (oblique) was scratched from his first rehab game at short-season Tri-City on Thursday after experiencing discomfort during warmups, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports.
The Astros will have Presley take the next few days off before reassessing his condition. The setback probably pushes his potential return from the DL back another week.

Presley (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment at short-season Tri-City on Tuesday, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports.
Presley has been out just over a month with the oblique injury, so it's possible he may require more than one or two games in the minors before he's activated. Since Presley is now 28 years old and owns a track record that suggests he's no better than a fourth or fifth outfielder, the rebuilding Astros may have little incentive to give him at-bats over the season's final month a half as they turn their eye toward 2015.
Sun Jul 20 201410:47Presley (intercostal) not close to return
Alex Presley (intercostal) is not close to resuming baseball activities.
Presley received a platelet-rich plasma injection and has started to move around a bit, but he's not close to returning. "Part of the plan is to let it settle down or whatever and then start doing stuff," Presley said. "Just one of those things where it's just not something that's going to heal over night. I mean, I feel it to a degree. Just trying to maybe amp it up a little bit, every day, a little more each day and see what happens."

Tue Jul 8 201410:48Astros place Alex Presley (oblique) on DL
Astros placed OF Alex Presley on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique.
That was the fear after Presley was forced to leave Monday's game and the move is now official. The Astros have recalled Robbie Grossman from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take his place on the active roster.

Tue Jul 8 201408:25Presley expected to be placed on DL
Alex Presley is expected to be placed on the disabled list with a strained right oblique.
Presley suffered the injury on a swing in the eighth inning on Monday. It's too bad, as he had begun to swing the bat better in recent days, but oblique injuries are notoriously tricky. No word yet on who will replace him on the active roster.

Mon Jul 7 201423:26Presley exits with possible oblique injury
Alex Presley left Monday's game against the Rangers with an apparent injury to his right side.
Presley tweaked something on a swing in the eighth inning. It sounds like he's dealing with an oblique strain, but the Astros should provide more clarity on his situation after the game.

Tue May 27 201423:54Presley has three-hit day in win over Royals
Alex Presley went 3-for-3 with an RBI in Tuesday's win over the Royals.
Presley had three singles, with his RBI coming on a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. The game was his second straight three-hit game, and he's 10-for-18 (.556) in his last five games. The Astros have a bit of a logjam with Presley, George Springer, Dexter Fowler and Robbie Grossman vying for playing time in the outfield, but Presley's bat should continue to find its way into the everyday lineup when he's hitting this way.

Tue May 13 201400:04Alex Presley goes 0-for-3 in loss
Alex Presley went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts before being removed for a pinch-hitter Monday.
Presley, who has been serving as the Astros' left fielder against right-handers, is hitting just .219 with three walks in 96 at-bats. He does have three homers, but he doesn't have the power to overcome such a poor OBP. The Astros should still be keeping their eyes open for any sort of upgrade. Kyle Blanks would be a nice fit.

Sun May 4 201419:21Presley homers, scores twice against Mariners
Alex Presley went 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored in a loss to the Mariners on Sunday.
Presley's third home run of the season tied the game at 1-1 in the second inning. He also doubled and scored later in the game. Presley is hitting just .247 with a .665 OPS, but he plays enough in the weak-hitting Astros lineup to be worth a look in AL-only leagues.
