Tue Oct 11 202218:33Chris Taylor Not In Game 1 Lineup Tuesday
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor (neck) made the team's roster for the National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres this week, but he's not in the starting lineup for Game 1 on Tuesday. But the 32-year-old will be available as a utility bat and glove off the bench for the Dodgers to begin the series. Trayce Thompson is starting in left field for the Dodgers and is hitting eighth against Padres right-hander Mike Clevinger. Thompson, who began the year with the Padres, hit .268/.364/.537 with a .901 OPS, 13 home runs, 39 RBI, 35 runs scored and four stolen bases in 74 games with LA. He enters the postseason after going 6-for-14 with a homer, two RBI and three runs scored in his final five regular season games.

Sat Oct 8 202211:20Chris Taylor To Take Live At-Bats Sunday, Monday
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor (neck) has responded well to a cortisone injection that he received this week and will take live at-bats on Sunday and Monday, according to skipper Dave Roberts. If he's able to come out of those sessions healthy, he'll likely be included on the roster for the National League Division Series, which begins on Tuesday, Oct. 11. After making his first All-Star team in 2021, Taylor wasn't as good for the Dodgers this year, slashing .221/.304/.373 with 10 home runs, 43 RBI, 45 runs scored and 10 stolen bases in 454 plate appearances and 118 games. But the Dodgers will be much better off in their first playoff series of 2022 if the utility man is available for them.

Tue Oct 4 202218:28Chris Taylor Confident He'll Be Ready For NLDS
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor (neck) said his neck is feeling better and he's "100 percent" confident right now that he'll be ready to play in the National League Division Series that starts next week. With the best record in baseball and the No. 1 overall seed in the NL playoffs, the Dodgers will have a bye until the NLDS, so Taylor will have a little more time to recover from a stiff neck he's been dealing with of late. The 32-year-old received a cortisone shot on Monday and is unlikely to play in the team's final two regular season games against the Colorado Rockies this week. After making the All-Star team for the first time in his career in 2021, Taylor has slashed just .221/.304/.373 with 10 homers, 43 RBI, 45 runs and 10 steals in 402 at-bats in 2022.

Mon Oct 3 202220:48Chris Taylor's Postseason Status Uncertain
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor (neck) is dealing with a really stiff neck, and there's a decent chance he won't play in the final three regular season games against the Colorado Rockies this week, according to skipper Dave Roberts. Taylor can still see live pitching in simulated games, but his status for the postseason is uncertain after he received a cortisone injection. For now, the 32-year-old utility man will be day-to-day, and he still has a week to recover before the start of the National League Division Series. Taylor has hit just .221/.304/.373 this year with 10 home runs, 43 RBI, 45 runs scored and 10 stolen bases in 402 at-bats. As a first-time All-Star in 2021, he hit .254 with 20 homers, 73 RBI and 13 steals in 148 regular season games.

Tue Aug 9 202221:12Chris Taylor Not Starting Tuesday Against Minnesota
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Minnesota Twins. Since returning from the injured list last Friday, the 31-year-old is 1-for-10 with a double, two RBI, a run, a stolen base, and five strikeouts across three games. He will retreat to the bench on Tuesday. Joey Gallo is starting in left field and batting eighth for the Dodgers. Gallo is 2-for-10 with six strikeouts since being acquired by Los Angeles at the MLB trade deadline. Fantasy managers can use Gallo as a streamer in deep-league formats against Twins right-hander Joe Ryan.

Fri Aug 5 202216:06Chris Taylor Activated And Starting Friday
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor (foot) was reinstated from the injured list on Friday and will start at second base and hit fifth in the batting order against San Diego Padres left-hander Sean Manaea. Taylor was out for a month with a fractured foot, but he'll return on Friday night for the start of a big series against the division-rival Padres in Los Angeles. This will be the 31-year-old's first start of the year on the infield, and he could see more time at second base moving forward to protect his foot. On the year, he's hitting .238/.319/.409 with six home runs, 27 RBI, 32 runs scored and six stolen bases in 252 at-bats. Gavin Lux has been playing second base mostly, but his bat should remain in the lineup regularly despite Taylor's return, as he's hitting .298 on the season in 309 at-bats.

Mon Jul 25 202221:54Chris Taylor Could Begin Rehab Assignment Soon
Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Chris Taylor (foot) ran on Monday for the first time since he broke his foot back in early June. Taylor reportedly felt good afterward and is expected to get in some simulated at-bats when the Dodgers begin their series against the Colorado Rockies on Thursday. Taylor could then be in line to head off on a rehab assignment if all goes well. The 31-year-old is hitting .238 with six homers, 32 runs, 27 RBI, and six steals over 252 at-bats in 2022.

Thu Jul 21 202221:20Chris Taylor Takes Swings And Fields Grounders
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor (foot) hasn't resumed running, but he is taking swings, fielding grounders and throwing. He was placed on the injured list after suffering a small fracture in his left foot on July 4. The 31-year-old's return from the IL is to be determined, and the Dodgers should have more of a precise timeline once he starts running again. This season, he has been solid for fantasy managers, slashing .238/.319/.409 with six home runs, 27 RBI, 32 runs scored and six stolen bases in 252 at-bats. Trayce Thompson and Jake Lamb will continue to see an uptick in at-bats while Taylor is sidelined.

Wed Jul 6 202219:16Chris Taylor Placed On Injured List
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor (foot) has been placed on the 10-day injured list. The 31-year-old has been dealing with discomfort in his foot for a few days. He underwent a CT scan on Monday, which revealed a fracture in his foot. That being said, Taylor is going to miss some time and it's unclear when he'll take the field again. In the meantime, Zach McKinstry has been recalled from the minors to take his spot on the active roster. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect McKinstry to offer much fantasy value.

Sat Jul 2 202221:30Chris Taylor Removed From Saturday's Game
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Chris Taylor (foot) was removed early during Saturday's game against the San Diego Padres. The utility man is expected to undergo further testing to ensure there is no structural damage. Fantasy managers should consider Taylor day-to-day with a foot contusion. Trayce Thompson replaced Taylor during Saturday's game. He could see a few more starts, assuming Taylor is forced to miss time. Fantasy managers should check back in a day or two for another update.

Mon Jun 27 202213:36Chris Taylor Adds Three Hits Off Bench
Los Angeles Dodgers utility man Chris Taylor did not start Sunday's game against the Atlanta Braves but came off the bench to contribute three hits in a 5-3 extra-inning victory. Taylor pinch-hit for starting left fielder Eddy Alvarez and went 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base. This performance breaks a three-game hitless stretch for Taylor, who now has six stolen bases on the year. With a .722 OPS this season, fantasy managers are surely looking for greater production, but the potential is high for an all-category producer in a potent offense.

Wed Jun 1 202212:55Chris Taylor Hoping For Greener Pastures In June
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder/infielder Chris Taylor will be looking forward to the calendar turning over to June as much as any player. In May, Taylor put up a slash line of .229/.321/.448 in 96 at-bats with four home runs, 13 RBI and 37 strikeouts (40.2% strikeout rate). While Taylor is doing a good job of not chasing pitches (89th percentile in chase rate) and barreling balls (78th percentile in barrel rate), the veteran is not doing enough in terms of putting balls in play. Taylor ranks in the first percentile in whiff rate, the third percentile in strikeout rate and the 11th percentile in xBA. For the Dodgers to get back to the World Series in October, Taylor will need to find a way to put the ball in play more and stop striking out at the rate that he is currently at. Taylor should be looked at as a bench player in standard leagues currently.

Wed May 11 202210:05Will Smith, Chris Taylor Back In Action On Wednesday
Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith (chest) and outfielder Chris Taylor (knee) are both back in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Taylor sat out on Tuesday after fouling a ball off his knee during Monday's game. Smith, meanwhile, missed each of the last two games due to a minor right pectoral injury. Taylor is off to a rough start to May as he's struck out 14 times across 24 at-bats, slashing just .167/.231/.208 along the way. Smith has similarly struggled through the first third of the month as he's gone just 3-for-18 at the plate with no extra-base hits.

Tue May 10 202215:30Chris Taylor Not In Tuesday's Lineup
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder/infielder Chris Taylor (knee) is not in the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Taylor fouled a ball off his left knee on Tuesday and was diagnosed with a bone bruise, so he'll take the day to rest up. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day after X-rays came back negative. Gavin Lux will draw the start in left field and hit eighth on Tuesday against Pirates right-hander Bryse Wilson. Taylor has a .256 batting average with one home run, 11 RBI, nine runs scored and two stolen bases in his first 25 games of the season. Lux, meanwhile, is hitting .261 with a homer, six RBI and two steals in 69 at-bats, but he carries minimal DFS upside while hitting in the eight-hole.

Mon May 9 202221:30Chris Taylor Leaves Monday's Game
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Chris Taylor left his team's 5-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday after he fouled a ball off of his left knee during the sixth inning. Taylor had gone 0-for-3 with two strikeouts before he was replaced in the lineup by Max Muncy. The veteran was in visible pain after taking the foul ball off of his knee. He tried to walk it off but ultimately was removed from the game. The Dodgers are saying that Taylor is day-to-day for now. Taylor is hitting .256 with a homer, nine runs, and 11 RBI on the season.

Mon Apr 18 202218:36Chris Taylor Heading To The Bench Monday
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Chris Taylor isn't part of the team's starting lineup for Monday's game against Huascar Ynoa and the Atlanta Braves. Gavin Lux and Mookie Betts are covering the corner outfield spots in the game. This will be Taylor's second day off of the year. Through eight games, he's slashing .333/.382/.500 with three doubles, two stolen bases, six RBI and three runs. He's got a good amount of sneaky fantasy value as he can slot in at several positions for fantasy managers and he's relatively cheap exposure to one of the league's most potent offenses.

Mon Mar 21 202214:43Chris Taylor Recovering From Elbow Scope
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor (elbow) had a scope done on his right elbow back in November, according to manager Dave Roberts. It explains why Taylor hasn't played the field yet in the Cactus League. However, Roberts called the injury "minor," and Taylor could be at second base as soon as this Thursday. Taylor was a first-time All-Star in 2021, when he slashed .254/.344/.438 with 20 home runs, 73 RBI, 92 runs scored and 13 stolen bases in 582 plate appearances over 148 games played. He should see most of his playing time at the keystone this year and will share time with Gavin Lux. Taylor does a little bit of everything, but fantasy managers shouldn't overpay for him just because he's on the Dodgers.

Wed Dec 1 202121:53Dodgers Reportedly Re-Sign Chris Taylor
According to a tweet from The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, the Los Angeles Dodgers have reportedly re-signed infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor to a four-year deal. Per Rosenthal, the contract is worth $60 million and includes an option for a fifth year, that if exercised, would take the contract's total value to $73 million. The 31-year-old hit .254 with a .344 on-base percentage, 20 home runs and 13 stolen bases in 582 plate appearances for the Dodgers last season. With shortstop Corey Seager now in Texas, Taylor could, in theory, see more starts at both middle infield spots alongside Trea Turner.

Fri Nov 19 202113:01Red Sox An Option For Chris Taylor?
The Boston Red Sox could be a player for free-agent infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor after they had success with the signing of another versatile ex-Los Angeles Dodger in Enrique Hernandez. The Red Sox covet versatility in their position players, and Taylor certainly fits that bill, as he's able to play any outfield spot as well as shortstop and second base. He can also swing a pretty good bat. Taylor hit .254/.344/.438 with a .782 OPS, 20 home runs, 73 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 92 runs scored in 507 at-bats over 148 games for the Dodgers in the 2021 regular season. He was even better in the postseason, hitting .351/.419/.784 with a 1.202 OPS, four home runs and 12 RBI in only 43 plate appearances. Taylor would remain extremely popular in fantasy if he were to land in Boston.

Wed Nov 10 202120:34Chris Taylor Expected To Reject Qualifying Offer
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor is expected to reject the $18.4 million qualifying offer, according to MLB Network's Jon Heyman. Taylor hit .254 with a .344 on-base percentage, 20 home runs and 13 stolen bases in 582 plate appearances during the regular season. He only continued to produce once the postseason started, batting .351 with a .419 on-base percentage, four home runs and three stolen bases in 43 plate appearances. With the potential to reach double digits in both home runs and stolen bases, not to mention his ability to play all over the field, the veteran should once again be a quality fantasy option for managers next season no matter where he winds up.
