C Derek Norris was available Friday night after leaving Thursday's game in the ninth inning after taking a foul tip off his right clavicle. X-rays came back negative.

"I just stuck with the process." The old adage is that it's a long season, and Norris' resolve is beginning to pay off. On Thursday night, Norris hit a three-run home run in a 7-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. "We counted on him to be a middle of the order production guy," said manager Andy Green. "It's good to see him get going. There was no point in time we thought he was going to hit .160." It was Norris' third homer in five games. He's now hit safely in 13 of 17 games in June. "A homer here and there, sure," Norris said. "Definitely some work still left to do. I felt there were some more pitches to hit tonight that I fouled off. I'll keep improving."

C Derek Norris made his second start this season batting fourth and went 2-for-4. He has hit safely in 11 of his past 16 games, going 18-for-55 (.327) in that span. In 15 career games at Coors Field, Norris is batting .356 (21-for-59) with eight doubles, one homer, six RBIs and 11 runs scored.

Norris is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Brewers.

With Tyson Ross set to take the mound for San Diego, Austin Hedges will once again catch for the 28-year-old, leaving Norris set to take a seat on the bench. He should be back behind the plate tomorrow.

Norris took a foul tip off his right hand in Monday's contest and missed the next two games after that, but he'll return to the lineup Friday. The 26-year-old will assume his usual duties behind the plate, batting seventh.
