Hanson, 24, appeared in 37 games with the Pirates, hitting .193, with no home runs or RBIs in 57 at-bats before being designated for assignment on June 2. With Pittsburgh, Hanson started nine games at second base, two at shortstop, two in right field and one at third base. Hanson has not yet joined the team.
