Barrett (biceps) was throwing off flat ground from about 90 feet with a trainer looking on Thursday, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.

Should Drew Storen falter as the Nationals' closer, Barrett would likely be the next man up, but for now fantasy owners will have to be content with holds and the occasional vultured win from Barrett.

In 40 appearances with Washington prior to his demotion, Barrett posted a 3.21 ERA with 43 strikeouts in 33.2 innings, but his control issues (4.8 K/9) figure to keep him in the middle innings.
