Tue May 24 202215:09Eduardo Escobar Drawing Plenty Of Walks Early
New York Mets third baseman Eduardo Escobar is hitting .209 with a .310 on-base percentage and a pair of home runs in 171 plate appearances this season. It's been an unideal start production-wise for Escobar in his first campaign with the Mets, but the veteran is at least drawing plenty of walks, helping boost his value to a degree in fantasy leagues where on-base percentage is part of the scoring. The 33-year-old has a 12.9% walk rate so far in 2022, which would be a career-best if the season ended today.

Thu May 12 202211:09Eduardo Escobar Not Playing Thursday
New York Mets third baseman Eduardo Escobar is not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Washington Nationals. Escobar could use a day of rest, as he has just one extra-base hit and is batting .205 in his first nine games in the month of May to drop his season slash line to .216/.326/.342 with one home run and seven RBI in 30 games played. Fantasy managers may want to keep the 33-year-old on their benches until he shows some signs of life at the plate. Luis Guillorme will get the start at the hot corner and will hit eighth on Thursday against Nationals right-hander Joan Adon. Guillorme has only three career home runs in 197 games played in five major league seasons, so DFS gamers should be able to find better options at third base.

Tue May 3 202221:02Eduardo Escobar In A Power Slump
New York Mets third baseman Eduardo Escobar went 1-for-4 against the Atlanta Braves in the 5-4 victory on Tuesday. His hit was an RBI single in the first inning. Escobar currently doesn't have an extra-base hit in his past five games, and his only home run of the season came on April 21. The 33-year-old is slashing .250/.359/.398 with 12 runs and six RBI across 24 games. Escobar should be able to find the power stroke that lead to 28 HRs in 2021, so fantasy managers looking for home runs should hang on to him and expect another season with 20-plus round-trippers.

Fri Apr 22 202200:14Eduardo Escobar Connects For First Homer Of Season Thursday
New York Mets third baseman Eduardo Escobar slugged his first home run of the season during a 6-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Thursday. The 2021 All-Star took Giants starting pitcher Anthony DeSclafani deep for a solo shot during the second inning. Through 13 games, the 33-year-old is slashing .318/.464/.591 while posting 12 walks and seven doubles. The sturdy Escobar has settled in as the number five hitter in Queens and should be a strong source of counting stats during his first season as a Met.

Sat Apr 9 202218:36Eduardo Escobar Absent From Saturday's Lineup
New York Mets infielder Eduardo Escobar is not in Saturday's starting lineup to take on the Washington Nationals, according to MLB.com. He's been hot at the plate in his first couple of games, hitting .286 with a 1.071 OPS. It'll be Luis Guillorme playing third base and batting eighth instead. The 27-year-old has a knack for getting on base, slashing .265/.374/.311 last season, and has a career OBP of .354. However, he has almost no power, slugging just two home runs in 180 career games. For fantasy managers in OBP leagues, streaming Guillorme isn't a bad idea, especially against the Nationals Joan Adon, a 23-year-old with little experience in the major leagues.

Fri Nov 26 202122:06Eduardo Escobar and Mets Agree On Two-Year Deal
The New York Mets and free-agent infielder Eduardo Escobar agreed to a two-year, $20 million contract on Friday. The 32-year-old bounced back in 2021 after a disastrous campaign in 2020 (slashed .212/.270/.335). He slashed .253/.314/.472 with 28 homers, 90 RBI, 77 runs scored, and one stolen for the Diamondbacks and Brewers over 599 plate appearances in 2021. Escobar has multiple eligibility and will qualify at first (18 games), second (42 games), and third base (99 games) in most leagues in 2022. The former Diamondback has hit for 25 or more home runs in three of his last four seasons and should remain a viable fantasy asset with his new team for the upcoming year.

Tue Sep 28 202118:37Eduardo Escobar On The Bench Tuesday
Milwaukee Brewers infielder Eduardo Escobar isn't starting on Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals and right-hander Adam Wainwright. Escobar is batting .249 with a .312 on-base percentage, 28 home runs, and a stolen base in 581 plate appearances this season. Dan Vogelbach is getting the start in Escobar's place at first base on Tuesday night. The 28-year-old is hitting seventh against the Cardinals. Fantasy managers are probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming help. Vogelbach is batting .210 with a .344 on-base percentage and eight home runs in 247 plate appearances this season.

He's batting .259/.315/.492 with 27 homers, 79 RBI, 69 runs scored, and a stolen base through 518 plate appearances between Milwaukee and Arizona this year. He seems to have found his power stroke with his new team.

Mon Aug 30 202122:23Eduardo Escobar Could Return This Weekend
Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Eduardo Escobar (hamstring) is expected to rejoin the lineup sometime this weekend. He has been sidelined roughly a month while dealing with a lingering hamstring issue. The veteran infielder is hitting .788 OPS with two home runs over 21 games with the Brewers. Fantasy managers should be patient with him because he should be back in the lineup soon. Escobar hits well enough to be rostered in most fantasy formats down the stretch.

Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Eduardo Escobar went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Cubs in Game 2 of the doubleheader. The 32-year-old has 10 hits in his last six games, and he is batting .317 with three homers and seven RBI in 11 games with the Brewers. Sat Jul 31 202114:35Eduardo Escobar Makes Instant Impact With Brewers
Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Eduardo Escobar went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and two total runs scored in Friday's 9-5 win over Atlanta. The 32-year-old's first game with Milwaukee went well, as he went deep in the ninth inning to tack on an insurance run. He got the start at his natural third base position Friday, but switch-hitter is expected to play first-base against lefties to allow Milwaukee to keep Luis Urias in the lineup. Escobar is up to 23 homers, 66 RBI, 52 runs scored and a stolen base through 405 plate appearances, and his counting stats could be in for a boost now that he's away from Arizona's terrible offense.

Sat Jul 31 202102:55Joey Votto homers for 7th straight game, 1 shy of MLB record
NEW YORK (AP) — Joey Votto homered for the seventh straight game, one shy of a major league record, and the Cincinnati Reds beat the New York Mets 6-2 on Friday night. Jonathan India went deep twice for the Reds, including a leadoff shot that came on Carlos Carrasco’s first pitch with the Mets. Acquired from Cleveland in January, the veteran right-hander finally made his New York debut after recovering from a hamstring injury. It was an up-and-down day for the Mets, who made a big deal to get Javier Báez from the Chicago Cubs before baseball’s trade deadline — and then revealed injured ace Jacob deGrom will be shut down for two more weeks because of inflammation in his pitching elbow, making it unlikely he’ll rejoin the NL East leaders before September. Báez was acquired from the Cubs along with right-hander Trevor Williams for outfield prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong, the Mets’ first-round pick in the 2020 amateur draft. Báez is expected to join the Mets on Saturday and will play shortstop... [More]

Fri Jul 30 202118:45Brewers add relievers Norris and Curtiss in trades
MILWAUKEE (AP) — The NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers made two more moves Friday to boost their roster for a playoff push, acquiring relievers John Curtiss from the Miami Marlins and Daniel Norris from the Detroit Tigers. Milwaukee sent minor league catcher Payton Henry to Miami and minor league pitcher Reese Olson to Detroit. Both moves were completed Friday, two days after the Brewers added All-Star third baseman Eduardo Escobar in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Curtiss and Norris boost the depth of a bullpen headed by All-Star closer Josh Hader and 2020 NL Rookie of the Year Devin Williams. “We added to our depth, to our choices and created some insurance for the big innings, the leverage innings there,” Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. “We feel like with the group we have to attack the last two months, we’ll have guys step up. There’s enough good arms there, enough talented arms there that no matter what happens, we’ll be in a good spot.” Curtiss, 28, is 3-1 with a 2.48... [More]
