Wed Jun 2621:52Kyle Tucker Takes 30 Swings Off A Tee
Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker (shin) will travel with the team to New York this weekend for their series against the New York Mets with hopes he can get on the field soon. Tucker took 30 swings off the tee on Tuesday, but considering he still needs to resume running, it's highly unlikely that he'll be able to return to the Astros before the end of June at this point. The 27-year-old star outfielder has missed more time than anticipated due to a right shin contusion, so it's likely Tucker will now need a brief minor-league rehab assignment before coming off the injured list.

Tue Jun 2518:23Kyle Tucker Making Solid Progress
Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker (shin) was able to some swings with the bat on Sunday. The expectation is that Tucker is going to resume running within the next few days. Tucker is currently scheduled for a light throwing session on Friday. He'll likely go on a minor league rehab assignment soon after that. The Astros expect Tucker to return shortly after his 15-day injured list stint ends. Fantasy managers shouldn't have to wait much longer for Tucker's return to the field.

Sat Jun 2216:10Kyle Tucker Still Not Participating In Any Baseball Activities
Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker (shin) is still not participating in any baseball activities after initially being expect to start baseball activities this weekend. He was also seen walking with a slight limp. Initially expected to be day-to-day, Tucker's shin has taken significantly longer to recover than the team and fantasy managers have anticipated. The lefty was in the midst of an MVP caliber season prior to fouling a ball off his shin, hitting for a 176 OPS+ on the season. He does not have a timeline to return and fantasy managers may want to set their expectations for a return to happen after the All Star break given the outfielder's inactivity. Trey Cabbage and Chas McCormick have been splitting time in right field in Tucker's absence. Fantasy managers may want to consider grabbing Cabbage off the waiver wire with his 132 wRC+ in June far outweighing McCormick's 81 wRC+.

Thu Jun 2013:37Astros Hopeful Kyle Tucker Will Begin Baseball Activities This Weekend
Houston Astros manager Joe Espada said he's hopeful that outfielder Kyle Tucker (shin) can begin doing baseball activities on the field this weekend. When Tucker initially fouled a ball off his shin in early June, he was listed as day-to-day and expected to avoid the injured list. The 27-year-old has been slow to recover, though, and ended up landing on the IL and has yet to resume baseball activities. He's already missed more than two weeks now, but it sounds like he's finally making progress and could be cleared for a minor-league rehab assignment soon after he starts baseball activities. As long as Tucker doesn't suffer a setback, he should be able to rejoin Houston's lineup before the All-Star break in mid-July. Tucker is an elite fantasy commodity in all categories when he's healthy.

Tue Jun 400:10Kyle Tucker's Shin X-Rays Negative
Houston Astros manager Joe Espada said that outfielder Kyle Tucker (shin) had X-rays done on his right shin after Monday's 7-4 win against the Cardinals, saying that nothing serious showed up in the results. This is good news, as the 27-year-old was pinch-hit for by Mauricio Dubon in his second at-bat after fouling a pitch off his shin. Tucker should be considered day-to-day, although fantasy managers should monitor the Astros' lineup for the next few days and keep an eye out for any further updates. Tucker has once again been a top-tier fantasy option, slashing .266/.395/.584 with 19 home runs, 40 RBI, and 10 stolen bases in 262 plate appearances.

Mon Jun 321:24Kyle Tucker Leaves After Fouling Ball Off Shin
Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker (shin) exited Monday's game against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals after fouling a ball off his right shin in the third inning. Tucker went down in a lot of pain and tried to stay in the contest, but Mauricio Dubon ultimately pinch hit for him. The Astros will provide another update on Tucker after further evaluation, and the right fielder should be considered day-to-day until more information comes to light ahead of Tuesday's matchup against St. Louis. After singling and stealing a base on Monday, the 27-year-old fantasy superstar is now slashing .266/.395/.584 with 19 home runs, 40 RBI, and 10 stolen bases through 214 at-bats (60 games) for the Astros this season. Houston could recall Joey Loperfido from the minor leagues if Tucker needs to head to the injured list.

Wed May 2208:39Kyle Tucker Goes Yard Twice
Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker put together a monster game against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday evening. Tucker went 2-for-4 with three runs, one walk and two homeruns to help lead the Astros to their 22nd victory of the season. The Astros have struggled this season, but Tucker has been doing his part for the club and fantasy managers. On the season, Tucker has hit .293 with 17 homers, 36 RBI and nine stolen bases to go along with a shiny 1.074 OPS. Tucker is putting up some of the best numbers of any player in the game this season and has the most homeruns in the league. He should continue to make fantasy managers happy moving forward.

Mon May 2000:23Kyle Tucker Launches Two Homers Sunday
Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker went 2-for-5 with a pair of home runs in a 9-4 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday. Tucker continued his excellent season with his 14th and 15th big flies of the season and tacked on two runs and four RBI for good measure. Tucker has been a five-category beast in 2024, hitting .287 with 33 runs, 15 homers, 33 RBI, and seven stolen bases. The 27-year-old has certainly lived up to his first-round pedigree for fantasy managers and should continue to be an elite option as long as he remains healthy.

Fri May 1021:18Kyle Tucker Smashes Another Home Run In Win
Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker went 1-for-3 with two walks and a solo home run in the Astros' 5-2 win over the Detroit Tigers on Friday. The solo shot marks his 12th home run of the season (most in the league) and his fourth in his last five games. The lefty has now raised his OPS to .965 on the season, leading the Astros as they work to make their way out of the cellar of the American League West. Tucker will have a tough matchup on Saturday night against Tigers ace and early AL Cy Young candidate Tarik Skubal.

Thu May 211:36Kyle Tucker Smacks Home Run No. 8 Wednesday
Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker hit a 422-foot home run in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Guardians, a solo shot in the seventh inning off of Guardians starter Triston McKenzie. It was the lefty's eighth home run of the year and third in his past four games. It also extended his hitting streak to seven games and he's hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games, going 16-for-44 (.364) over the 12-game stretch while raising his season batting average to .298. The 2x All-Star has also walked more than he's struck out this season, with 21 walks to 20 strikeouts. It seems his early-season discrepancy between BA and xBA is starting to even out with the 27-year-old making another push for an All-Star selection and possibly an MVP-caliber season.

Sat Apr 1309:38Kyle Tucker Homers Twice, Drives In Three
Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker homered twice in Friday's 12-8 loss to the Rangers. The lefty was 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs scored, and a walk. He now has four home runs on the season, with his other two home runs coming in a single game back on April 1. It has been somewhat of a mixed bag to start the year for Tucker, having seven multi-hit games over his first 15, but also six games without a hit, resulting in a modest .258 average. His xBA checks in at .341 though, so perhaps he's been a little unlucky and this is the beginning of some more consistent hitting for the 2x All-Star. The lefty has also stolen just one base thus far, and fantasy managers who took him with a first-round draft selection are hoping the pace picks up there as well.

Tue Apr 212:19Kyle Tucker Launches Two Homers During No-Hitter
Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker's offensive exploits on Monday were overshadowed by right-hander Ronel Blanco throwing this year's first no-hitter in the 10-0 shutout win over the visiting Toronto Blue Jays. While Blanco was outstanding, Tucker had a pretty good game, too, going 2-for-3 with two home runs, four RBI, two runs scored, a walk and a strikeout. The 27-year-old left-handed slugger is proving quickly why he is one of the best all-around players in the game in 2024 with multi-hit games in three of his five contests. The former first-rounder (fifth overall) in 2015 has five RBI, one stolen base and four runs scored in his first five contests, but he's also struck out seven times in 23 plate appearances. Continue to run Tucker out there in starting lineups on a daily basis.

Thu Mar 2116:06Kyle Tucker Could Hit Third
Houston Astros manager Joe Espada said that he's considering hitting outfielder Kyle Tucker third behind outfielder/designated hitter Yordan Alvarez this year. Their ability to handle left-handed pitchers factors in, but so does third baseman Alex Bregman's ability to hit with runners in scoring position in the cleanup spot. Tucker still hit in the third-hole 37 percent of the time last year and hit 13 of his 29 home runs with a .938 OPS in that spot, so we think he'll be just fine there more often in 2024. The 27-year-old left-handed hitter is a top-five overall fantasy player after making the All-Star team each of the last two seasons. Tucker has hit .278/.353/.517 with an .870 OPS, 89 home runs, 311 RBI and 69 stolen bases in the last three years combined. He's a beast.

Mon Feb 1913:13Kyle Tucker Hasn't Seen A "Hard Offer" From Astros
Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker said that he hasn't had a "hard offer" yet from the team when asked about the state of his extension negotiations with the Astros. Tucker has one more year of arbitration eligibility in 2025 before he's set to reach free agency. General manager Dana Brown said last week that the team would make Tucker a long-term contract offer eventually, but it remains to be seen when that will happen. The 27-year-old left-handed slugger has cemented himself as one of the best all-around players in baseball -- RotoBaller has him ranked fourth overall -- after hitting .284/.369/.517 with an .886 OPS, 29 home runs, a league-high 112 RBI, a career-high 30 stolen bases and 97 runs scored in 157 games in 2023. Tucker has an incredible 89 long balls and 311 RBI in the last three years.

Wed Oct 18 202318:20Kyle Tucker Dropped To Sixth Spot Amid Slump
Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker hasn't done much this postseason and has now been dropped to sixth in the batting order against right-hander Max Scherzer and the Texas Rangers for Game 3 of the American League Championship Series on Wednesday evening. With Tucker moving down, veteran outfielder Michael Brantley, who is starting in left field, will move up to the two-hole behind leadoff man Jose Altuve. Tucker has gone hitless in eight at-bats in the first two games of the ALCS and has gone just 2-for-22 (.091) with a double, RBI, seven strikeouts and two runs scored in six playoff games this year. The 26-year-old lefty slugger will try to snap out of his funk against a future Hall of Famer, albeit one coming off a shoulder injury who hasn't pitched since mid-September. Tucker is 1-for-6 with an RBI, two walks and three K's in his career against Scherzer.

Tue Oct 17 202319:06Kyle Tucker Could Be Moved Down The Batting Order
Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker said on Tuesday that he's considering moving outfielder Kyle Tucker down in the batting order as a "temporary" measure. "They're terrible. I feel fine, just my swing is not there. I haven't done anything with any of the pitches. It's been tough," Tucker said about his playoff at-bats. Tucker is struggling mightily in this year's postseason, having gone 2-for-22 (.091) with a double, RBI, three walks, seven strikeouts and two runs scored in six games to this point. The Astros can't afford to fall behind any further after dropping the first two games of the seven-game series to the Texas Rangers. Expect to see Tucker hitting in the bottom half of Houston's lineup for Game 3 of the ALCS on Wednesday against the Rangers and right-hander Max Scherzer, who Tucker has gone 1-for-6 with an RBI and three K's against in his career.

Tue Aug 29 202301:35Kyle Tucker Reaches Thrice And Swipes A Bag
Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles, a run scored, a walk, and a stolen base in a 13-5 win over the Boston Red Sox on Monday. The Astros were losing this game 4-3 heading into the top of the sixth before they exploded for six runs in the frame. They tacked on four more runs over the next two frames and that was enough to seal the Sox fate. Tucker did his part, reaching base three times and stealing his 26th bag of the season. The 26 swipes are a new career-high for the 26-year-old. Overall, Tucker is slashing .293/.374/.521 with 26 home runs, 97 RBI, and the aforementioned 26 thefts over 474 at-bats. He's just four home runs (30) and 10 RBI (107) away from tying his other career highs. He's quietly put together a phenomenal season.

Mon Aug 21 202316:19Kyle Tucker Feeling Better Monday, Back In The Lineup
Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker (illness) is back in right field and is hitting third in the order on Monday against the visiting Boston Red Sox and left-hander James Paxton. Tucker missed the entire three-game series against the Seattle Mariners over the weekend while he was under the weather, but he'll be back in action for the series opener on Monday against Boston. Fantasy managers need to get the left-handed slugger back into all starting lineups, even against a left-handed pitcher. Tucker has gone 52-for-155 (.336) against southpaws this year with 11 of his 24 home runs in 175 plate appearances. He's a must-start anytime he's in Houston's starting lineup.

Sun Aug 20 202312:14Kyle Tucker Still Out Sick Sunday
Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker (illness) remains out of the starting lineup on Sunday against the visiting Seattle Mariners. This will be Tucker's third straight game missed due to an illness, but apparently he's feeling a bit better and could be available to come off the bench on Sunday. Fantasy managers will want to check back to see if the 26-year-old All-Star is feeling good enough to play in Monday's series opener against the Boston Red Sox. Tucker is an absolute must-start in fantasy lineups when he's active, as he's hitting .297/.377/.526 with a .903 OPS, 24 home runs, 92 RBI, 24 steals and 69 runs scored in 441 at-bats in 2023. Corey Julks is playing left field and is batting eighth against Mariners rookie right-hander Emerson Hancock on Sunday.
