Wed Aug 1417:07Dillon Dingler, Justyn-Henry Malloy Sitting For Tigers
Detroit Tigers rookie catcher Dillon Dingler and outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy are both out of the starting lineup again on Wednesday against the visiting Seattle Mariners at Comerica Park. It's hard for the Tigers to leave Jake Rogers out of the lineup after he hit a grand slam and drove in seven runs in the lopsided victory over Seattle on Tuesday. Dingler and Rogers have been splitting the catching duties evenly since the Tigers promoted Dingler from the minors, with the young backstop going 5-for-24 (.208) with a homer, three doubles and four RBI. Henry-Malloy's playing time figures to suffer with Kerry Carpenter back from the injured list. Carpenter hit two home runs in his return from a back injury on Tuesday and is serving as the designated hitter again while batting second versus Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo.

Tue Aug 619:35Dillon Dingler Not Seeing Stable Playing Time
Detroit Tigers catching prospect Dillon Dingler has been unable to find stable playing time since joining the major league roster on July 28. In this span, the backstop has only started two games and gone 2-for-9 at the plate with one extra-base hit and a 2:3 BB:K ratio. 29-year-old Jake Rogers has continued to see the majority of starts. However, he holds a .197 AVG with just seven home runs across 68 games. At Triple-A this summer, Dingler posted a stellar .308/.379/.559 slash line with 17 home runs and 52 RBI. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to Dingler's playing time as he could eventually take over starting duties in the Motor City, especially given Rogers' struggles.

Tue Jul 3007:08Dillon Dingler Doubles In Big-League Debut
Detroit Tigers catcher Dillon Dingler made his big-league debut on Monday and went 1-for-3 with a walk, double and RBI. Manager A.J. Hinch had no issue throwing Dingler straight into the fire and placed him in the No. 6 spot of the batting order. The backstop, who is the No. 11 prospect in the Tigers system per MLB Pipeline hit .308 with 15 doubles, 17 homers and 52 RBI in 263 at-bats for Triple-A Toledo this season. Not only does he hit the ball extremely hard and far, he is a good defender and that will help keep his bat in the lineup. Dingler's promotion came on the heels of Carson Kelly being dealt to the Texas Rangers and with Jake Rogers being the only other option on the roster, the 25-year-old should see a fair amount of playing time. He isn't a must-roster player, but those looking for power or a catcher in deeper leagues would be wise to monitor Dingler.

Mon Jul 2900:58Dillon Dingler Called Up To Tigers
Detroit Tiger catching prospect Dillon Dingler is being promoted to the majors and taking the place of the recently traded Carson Kelly. Dingler is Detroit's No. 11 prospect according to MLB Pipeline and will likely see a good chunk of at-bats down the stretch as the Tigers' only other catcher on the roster is Jake Rogers. Detroit likely wants to see what they have in Dingler, who boasts a robust .308/.379/.559 slash line with 17 homers and five steals in 263 at-bats in Triple-A this year. He is a decent catching option in two catcher leagues in fantasy for now, but in standard-size leagues he can stay on the wire.

Wed Jul 2421:15Dillon Dingler Goes Deep Twice
Detroit Tigers catching prospect Dillon Dingler continued his hot stretch at the plate on Tuesday by going 3-for-6 with two round-trippers. In his past 10 games, the Ohio State product has held an excellent .366/.469/.780 slash line with five home runs, eight RBI, and a 7:12 BB:K ratio. Dingler has taken a significant step forward at the top level of the minor leagues this season after struggling with a poor .202/.266/.384 line across a 26-game stint last year. This season he sits with an overall .299/.363/.530 line with 15 home runs. Dingler should see time in the majors later this season and could be worth adding in deeper, two-catcher leagues when he gets the call.

Tue Jun 2509:56Dillon Dingler Putting Together Impressive Season At Triple-A Toledo
Detroit Tigers catching prospect Dillon Dingler hit two homers and drove in seven runs for Triple-A Toledo on Sunday to continue his stellar season. Dingler, the Tigers' No. 12 prospect, is hitting .287 with 10 homers and 35 RBI for the Mud Hens this season. Known as an excellent defensive catcher, the 25-year-old has turned heads with his offensive production. Injuries have stalled his development over the past few years, but Dingler has the potential to be a fantasy contributor at the catcher position when the Tigers choose to call him up. He could get the call at any time now and would be a popular waiver-wire addition, especially in two catcher leagues.

Sun Oct 30 202218:39Dillon Dingler Leaves Arizona Fall League
Detroit Tigers catcher Dillon Dingler (knee) has left the Arizona Fall League. The 24-year-old is dealing with knee soreness, but the good news is that the tests came back negative. The expectation is that Dingler will be fully healthy for the beginning of spring training. He slashed .238/.333/.419 with 14 homers across 387 plate appearances in the minors last season. The hope is that Dingler can be the catcher of the future in Detroit.
