Sun Sep 21 201411:55Jones out of lineup Sunday against Nationals
Jones is out of the lineup Sunday against the Nationals.
Jones saw a start in right field on Friday, but will give way to Justin Bour at first base for the third straight game. Jones and his 15 home runs have provided fantasy owners with modest power this season, but a .194 batting average over the season's final two months have left much to be desired. He'll likely continue to rest over the final week of the season to give the Marlins a longer look at the 26-year-old Bour.

Jones is out of the lineup Saturday against the Nationals, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.
Jones will sit for the second time in three games. With the Marlins out of playoff contention, the team will likely give Justin Bour an opportunity to audition for next season's roster. Bour is starting at first base for the Marlins on Saturday and will bat fifth.

Sun Sep 14 201412:56Jones launched solo home run Saturday's in loss to Phillies
Jones launched a solo home run Saturday's in a loss to the Phillies.
It was Jones' only hit of the day and Miami's only run of the day as their bats were largely neutralized by Kyle Kendrick and the Phillies' bullpen. He's now up to 15 home runs on the year, but Jones has struggled since the All-Star break, batting just .218/.286/.381 in 44 second-half games.

Mon Sep 8 201408:14Jones 1-2 with run scored in return to lineup Sunday against Bra...
Jones went 1-for-2 with a run scored in his return to the lineup Sunday against the Braves.
After receiving back-to-back days off to clear his head, Jones responded with a fifth inning leadoff double and would come around to score the games' first run. Slashing .241/.310/.398 for the season, the Marlins appear to finally be realizing that Jones is over-extended as an everyday player. Expect Jeff Baker and Justin Bour to continue to work in at-bats at first base down the stretch.
Sun Sep 7 201410:59Jones back in lineup Sunday against Braves
Jones is back in the lineup Sunday against the Braves, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.
Jones had sat back-to-back games, but will return to first base Sunday afternoon when the Marlins take on opposing right-hander Gerrit Cole. Jones hasn't collected an extra-base hit since August 26, and is batting just .240 on the season.
Sat Sep 6 201415:09Jones out of Marlins' lineup again Saturday
Jones is out of the Marlins' lineup again Saturday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
This comes as no surprise, with the Braves trotting out lefty Alex Wood on Saturday, but Jones sat Friday against right-hander Aaron Harang and it seems his opportunities may be scaled back a bit over the final weeks of the season. Jeff Mathis will start at first in place of Jones, who is batting just .206/.281/.325 since the intermission.
Fri Sep 5 201415:20Jones not in lineup Friday
Jones is not in the lineup Friday, the Sun-Sentinel's Juan C. Rodriguez reports.
Jones starts roughly 80 percent of the Marlins' games, but has been fairly underwhelming this season, hitting just .240 with 13 home runs. Justin Bour will get the start at first base Friday.
Sun Aug 31 201414:39Jones out of lineup Sunday against Braves
Jones is out of the lineup Sunday against the Braves, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.
Jones' poor career marks against left-handers will keep him out of the lineup with lefty Alex Wood on the mound for the Braves. Jeff Baker steps in to man first base in his stead.
Wed Aug 27 201419:09Jones out of lineup Wednesday against Angels
Jones is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Angels, Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Even with the DH option available to him in Anaheim, manager Mike Redmond will not budge from his stance of sitting Jones against opposing lefties. It's certainly understandable, given Jones' .203/.261/.250 batting line against southpaws this season. Jeff Baker will man first base and bat second against Hector Santiago.
Mon Aug 25 201419:04Jones out of lineup Monday against Angels
Jones is out of the lineup Monday against the Angels, Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Jones will give way to Jeff Baker at first base Monday with lefty Wade LeBlanc toeing the rubber for the Angels. As has been consistent with his career, Jones is struggling against lefties this season, posting a .261 on-base percentage over 64 plate appearances.
Fri Aug 22 201417:17Jones out of lineup Friday against Rockies
Jones is out of the lineup Friday against the Rockies, Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Nothing to see here, as Jones' exposure to lefties has been limited all season and the Rockies are starting a southpaw in Franklin Morales. Jeff Baker will take over at first base and bat second, with Marcell Ozuna batting fifth and Donovan Solano in the eight-hole.
Sat Aug 16 201414:55Jones out of lineup Saturday versus Diamondbacks
Jones is out of the lineup Saturday versus the Diamondbacks, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
With lefty Wade Miley on the hill for Arizona, Jones will concede his spot in the lineup to Jeff Baker, who has been his usual platoon mate versus southpaws over the past couple of months. Baker will bat fifth and play first base.
Wed Aug 6 201408:36Jones 2-2 with walk and run scored in Tuesday's win over Pirates
Jones went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Pirates.
Jones appears to be warming at the dish with hits in each of his last three games and 12 of his last 13 contests overall. It is welcome news for the slugging first baseman who posted a poor .227/.256/.360 in 75 July at-bats. For the year, he's batting .257 with 12 home runs and 43 RBI over 366 at-bats.

Jones knocked his 12th home run of the year, a two-run shot, in Sunday's loss to the Reds.
The eighth-inning long ball was Jones' only hit of the day and too little too late for the Marlins' comeback hopes. For the year, Jones is working a .253/.313/.423 slash line with 12 home runs and 43 RBI. He's a platoon bat currently being over-exposed in an everyday role as 34 of his 36 extra-base hit on the year have come off of right handed pitching.

Mon Jul 21 201423:36Garrett Jones delivers in 10th for Marlins
Garrett Jones went 2-for-5 with a go-ahead two-run single in the 10th to lead the Marlins to a 3-1 win over the Braves on Monday.
His first big hit in a while. In fact, Jones had driven in a total of six runs in a month, all of them coming in Marlins losses. The 10th got started tonight when Christian Yelich delivered a leadoff single off Shae Simmons. He was advanced on a sac bunt, at which point the Braves intentionally walked Giancarlo Stanton. Casey McGehee then worked a walk of his own, bringing up Jones. The Braves declined to counter with new lefty Chasen Shreve, and Jones delivered against Simmons.

Tue Jun 24 201423:20Jones homer not enough as Marlins fall to PHI
Garrett Jones went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's loss to the Phillies.
Jones homered in the eighth inning against B.J. Rosenberg to bring the Marlins within three, but by then, it was too little, too late. It was Jones' 10th homer of the season, and he has 34 RBI with a .257/.324/.441 slash line on the season. The 32-year-old has been a good find for the Marlins.
