Rodriguez (back) was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list Saturday.
Rodriguez will give the Dodgers another arm out of the bullpen for the playoff stretch run. He has struggled thus far in 2014, with an ERA over 4.00 at both Triple-A and with the big league club, but his 2013 numbers (2.32 ERA and 0.90 WHIP) has warranted him a chance to pitch for the Dodgers. If he does well enough, he could be a candidate to make the postseason roster assuming the Dodgers make it.

Rodriguez (back) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session on Wednesday and felt no ill effects, JP Hoornstra of the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin reports. He'll throw to live hitters this weekend, and could return Sunday or shortly thereafter.

Rodriguez (back) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports.
The Dodgers were forced to scratch Rodriguez from his scheduled simulated game last weekend following a minor setback, but he's been cleared to return to elevated ground Wednesday. If all goes well, he could pitch a simulated game Friday or Saturday, with activation likely to come shortly thereafter. Rodriguez has made 13 appearances with the major league club this season but has spent most of the year at Triple-A Albuquerque, posting a 2.35 ERA and .224 BAA against opposing lefties.

Rodriguez (back) threw a bullpen session Tuesday without complications, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.
The Dodgers are optimistic Rodriguez could soon be ready to face hitters. The lefty has scuffled to an extent across both Triple-A and the majors in 2014, but may still pitch meaningful innings out of the bullpen for the Dodgers once he's healthy.

Rodriguez (back) is slated to throw a bullpen session this week, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.
Rodriguez recently intimated that he was hoping to return during the first week of September, but it's now looking like he won't be back until around the middle of the month. Chances are, Rodriguez will need to complete a couple bullpen sessions and a simulated game before getting the green light to rejoin the big league bullpen.

Tue Aug 5 201418:30Rodriguez placed on 15-day DL on Tuesday with Teres Major strain
Rodriguez was placed on the 15-day DL on Tuesday with a Teres Major strain.
The 23-year-old made just one appearance after his recall last week, striking out two over two scoreless innings against the Cubs on Sunday. Rodriguez will be out until at least Aug. 19 as a result of the Teres Major injury, and right-hander Pedro Baez will be up to take his spot in the bullpen for the time being.
Sat Aug 2 201417:00Rodriguez recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday
Rodriguez was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.
A torn ACL has ended Paul Maholm's season, and Rodriguez will be up to take his place in the active roster. Rodriguez hasn't been especially sharp in the majors (5.40 ERA) or with Albuquerque (4.40 ERA, 5.3 BB/9) this season, so he's no real threat to J.P. Howell's position as the top lefty out of the Dodgers' bullpen.

The Dodgers will not carry Paco Rodriguez and Chris Capuano on their NLCS roster.

Mon Aug 5 201322:45Paco Rodriguez picks up save for Dodgers
Paco Rodriguez was perfect for two innings Monday and picked up a save against the Cardinals with Kenley Jansen unavailable.
Rodriguez came in after Ronald Belisario hit David Freese with a pitch to begin the eighth. He got Jon Jay to pop up a bunt and then induced a double-play ball from Tony Cruz before pitching a flawless ninth. It was his second save, the other coming in June in relief of a struggling Brandon League. He'll continue to be used as a lefty specialist for the most part, but he's just fine against righties, too.

With Kenley Jansen needed the night off, League came into a 6-3 game and gave up a bloop single, an RBI double and a single before being pulled. Rodriguez took over then and allowed an RBI single, but he was able to retire three in a row after that. The last out came on Marco Scutaro's shot to deep center, which was hauled in by a running Matt Kemp.

Sat May 11 201313:05Paco Rodriguez could see late-inning work
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly suggested on Saturday that Paco Rodriguez could be used in more high-leverage situations.
Rodriguez has been a middle reliever to this point, but the Dodgers could ask him to take on a late-inning role to help fix their bullpen struggles. "The way Paco is going, he's a guy we're really going to have to take a look," Mattingly said. "You hate to just jump ship on that and give up on guys. But he's working his way more to that role."
