Tue Jun 7 202222:31Pete Alonso Exits Tuesday's Game Early
New York Mets' first baseman Pete Alonso (hand) exited Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres after being hit in the right hand with a pitch. He was struck in the right hand on a check swing during his first plate appearance on Tuesday. The 27-year-old was replaced by J.D. Davis in the top of the second inning. The severity of Alonso's hand injury is unknown at this time, and he's considered day-to-day. Alonso will undergo x-rays after the game, and the Mets should provide an update once the results are in. Davis would see an uptick in playing time if Alonso is forced to miss any games. Stay tuned.

New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso remained red hot on Friday, going 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, four RBI, and a walk in the Mets' 8-6 win over the Phillies. Alonso, who is now slashing .283/.348/.528, remains a must-start option in all formats. He is an elite first base option who is having an incredible campaign so far in 2022.

Tue May 24 202213:24Pete Alonso Has Three Hits, Slugs 11th Homer
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso continued on his offensive tear Monday night, going 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored in a 13-3 drubbing of the San Francisco Giants. Alonso's 11th homer came as part of a five-run third inning off starter Alex Cobb. With 40 RBI in just 44 games, there aren't many more prolific run producers out there, even if his slash line of .339/.418/.678 in 66 plate appearances over his last 15 games is bound to settle down in short order.

Thu May 19 202200:25Pete Alonso Belts Three-Run Blast
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso took matters into his own hands during Wednesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The right-handed slugger went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in the 11-4 victory. His 404-foot homer in the eighth inning marked his ninth of the season. Alonso only trails C.J. Cron for the National League lead in home runs. He finished the game with four RBIs, so fantasy managers will certainly take more performances like this one.

Mon May 16 202214:20Pete Alonso Enjoying Strong Start To 2022
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is once again producing at an above-average rate at the plate. After hitting .262 with a .344 on-base percentage, 37 home runs, and three stolen bases in 637 plate appearances last season, Alonso is batting .270 with a .342 on-base percentage and eight home runs in 155 plate appearances so far in the 2022 campaign. The first baseman has hit fourth in each of his starts this year for the Mets and should continue to be one of fantasy baseball's elite options at his position for the rest of the season.

Tue May 3 202222:30Pete Alonso Belts Fifth Homer On Tuesday
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went 4-for-8 with a home run and three RBI in a twin bill on Tuesday against the Atlanta Braves. The Mets took both games against the Braves on Tuesday, aided by Alonso's solid night. Over the first 26 games of the season, Alonso now has five homers, 21 RBI, and three doubles to go with a .260/.321/.440 slash line in 100 at-bats. It is shaping up to be a big season for Alonso who hits in the middle of a potent Mets lineup. As one of the premier power hitters in MLB, Alonso should remain active in all formats.

Wed Apr 27 202210:53Pete Alonso In The Lineup Against Cardinals
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (head) is back at first base and is hitting cleanup on Wednesday against St. Louis Cardinals left-hander Steven Matz. Alonso was hit in the head by a pitch on Tuesday in St. Louis, but he did not have to leave the game and passed the league's concussion protocol overnight. The power-hitting first baseman went 0-for-3 in the game on Tuesday, but he's hitting .257 with three home runs, 16 RBI and nine runs scored in his first 82 plate appearances of the season. Fantasy managers mainly drafted Alonso for his power, but he hasn't cleared the fences since April 17 at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Despite the recent power drought, Alonso should be in all starting lineups in redraft leagues on Wednesday.

Wed Apr 27 202209:36Pete Alonso On Nine-Game Homer Drought
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso has been regularly getting on base over the past few weeks, but he hasn't been producing much power lately. He has no home runs and no extra-base hits over his last nine games. The 27-year-old is slashing .257/.305/.419 over 19 games on the year. He homered three times over his first 10 games, so his home run pace isn't looking terrible quite yet. He currently has a 12.5% HR/FB rate, which is nearly half of his career HR/FB rate, 24.2%. Some of his underlying power metrics are a bit down from last year, but they will likely all normalize once the sample size gets bigger. Expect the 6'3" slugger to start racking up more home runs soon.

Sat Apr 16 202211:09Pete Alonso Continues Hot Start To 2022
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso drove in two runs in the Mets' 10-3 win over the Diamondbacks in the Mets' home opener on Friday. Both RBI came courtesy of sacrifice flies as Alonso went 0-for-1 at the plate with a walk, despite five plate appearances on the afternoon. Alonso is slashing .258/.324/.548 with two homers and 12 RBI on the young season and is poised to have a big year. Alonso should see positive regression in power totals from 2021 and should likely break the 40 HR mark and eclipse the 100 RBI plateau due to the addition of outfielders Starling Marte and Mark Canha to the Mets. A likely bounce-back campaign from shortstop Francisco Lindor, which appears to have already started, should also help Alonso to bolster his counting stats.

Fri Apr 8 202208:32Pete Alonso Tests Negative For Concussion
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (head) was forced to leave Thursday's Opening Day game against the Washington Nationals after being hit by a pitch in the head. He went through concussion protocols and tested negative. According to Mets beat reporter Deesha Thosar, all Alonso ended up with was a swollen and bloody lip. We should see the 27-year-old slugger back on the field for Game 2 of the series on Friday, but make sure to check the lineup cards prior to the game's 7:05 PM EST start time to confirm.

Fri Apr 8 202200:31Pete Alonso Leaves Early After Hit-By-Pitch
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso left Thursday's game early after getting hit in the ear flap by a pitch during the club's 5-1 win over the Nationals. Alonso was the unlucky recipient of a 95 MPH Mason Thompson fastball to the helmet in the ninth inning, and to his credit wanted to stay in the game, but he was ultimately overruled by manager Buck Showalter as he departed the field. He finished the night going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and a run scored out of the cleanup spot, and should be considered day-to-day until we hear more from the club. The right-handed slugger will likely undergo concussion tests this evening, so check back tomorrow for a further update on his weekend status.

Wed Mar 23 202210:46Mets Settle With Pete Alonso
The New York Mets and first baseman Pete Alonso agreed to a one-year, $7.4 million deal on Tuesday to avoid salary arbitration. The Mets also avoided arbitration with pitcher Trevor Williams ($3.9 million) , reliever Seth Lugo ($3.925 million) and infielder Jeff McNeil ($3 million). Alonso cut down on his strikeout rate in 2021 and finished with a .262/.344/.519 slash line with an .863 OPS, 37 home runs, 94 RBI and 81 runs scored in 637 plate appearances over 152 games played. The right-handed hitter's power metrics of exit velocity, barrel rate and hard-hit rate all supported the fact that he remains a great source of power at first base in fantasy drafts. Alonso could certainly hit 40-plus home runs and drive in 100-plus runs in an improved Mets lineup.

Mon Mar 14 202212:36Pete Alonso Involved In Scary Car Accident
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso said he got into a "brutal" car accident on Sunday in which his car flipped over three times. He said he feels fortunate to be alive, but all is well now and he will be back on the field on Tuesday. The 27-year-old is entrenched as the team's everyday first baseman, but he could also see more time at designated hitter in 2022. He finished the 2021 season with a .262/.344/.519 slash line with 37 home runs, 94 RBI and 81 runs scored while adding three steals in 637 plate appearances over 152 games in his third major league season. With 106 big flies in three seasons, it's clear that Alonso has elite power at his position. He comes in ranked as RotoBaller's No. 4 fantasy first baseman, behind only Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Freddie Freeman and Matt Olson.

He's slashed .284/.359/.595 with eight homers over his last 30 games. Alonso appears set to fall just short of the 40-homer plateau, as he currently has 37 to go with an .862 OPS, 81 runs, and 93 RBI. He'll be a reliable fantasy slugger for years to come.

Fri Oct 1 202107:54Pete Alonso Homers Twice In Thursday's Win
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso helped lead the team to a 12-3 victory over the Miami Marlins on Thursday. He went 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI in the game. He now has 37 home runs and 92 RBI over 149 games this year. The 26-year-old slugger has been one of the league's top power hitters for the third consecutive year in 2021. His .526 xSLG ranks in the 92nd percentile while his 118.4 mph max exit velocity ranks in the 99th percentile. Few players are as reliable from a power perspective as the Mets star. He should be a high draft pick come fantasy draft season once again next spring.

Wed Sep 22 202110:41Pete Alonso Hits 34th Homer In Losing Effort
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in the Mets 6-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday. Alonso has struggled at the plate recently, batting just .240 over his past seven games. That said, he has now homered twice over his last five games, suggesting his bat may have one last hot streak in it before the 2021 campaign concludes. On the season, Alonso has slashed .261/.342/.514 with 34 home runs, 88 RBI, 24 doubles, and 75 runs scored over 141 games. While Alonso won't reach the 50 HR plateau he reached in his rookie season, it still has been a productive season for the 26-year old slugger. Alonso should remain active in all formats for the Mets final 11 games of the season.
