Moore was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday with a left ankle sprain.
Moore hasn't received consistent playing time with the Nationals recently, but poor performance likely played into it as much as an injury. He'll now go on the disabled list, opening up a roster spot for the newly-recalled Trae Turner. By the time Moore returns, the rosters will have expanded, leaving him the opportunity to rejoin the club without the need of making a roster move.

Washington Nationals first baseman Tyler Moore was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday due to an ankle injury.
Washington Nationals first baseman Tyler Moore was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday due to an ankle injury. Moore was receiving limited playing time off the bench but could rejoin the team in September.
Sun Jul 19 201511:26Moore out of lineup Sunday against Dodgers
Moore is out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers.
Moore had started five straight games as first base for manager Matt Williams, but will take a seat for the Sunday afternoon contest. Clint Robinson will move in from left field to take over at first, while Matt den Dekker gets the nod in his place.

Moore got the start in left field Saturday and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI.
He's been effective recently when he gets a chance, going 7-for-20 (.350) over his last six games. Moore's .227/.277/.400 slash line on the season leaves him as only a low-end option in deeper formats, however.
Fri Jun 12 201511:14Clint Robinson, and not Moore, got start at first base Thursday
Clint Robinson, and not Moore, got the start at first base Thursday.
It looks like Nats manager Matt Williams will platoon Robinson and Moore at first base while Ryan Zimmerman (foot) is on the DL. If a strict platoon develops, Robinson would see a majority of the action as a left-handed hitter, but it's more likely that the two will split starts roughly equally.

Moore pinch-hit for an injured Denard Span in Sunday's loss to the Reds.
If Span has to miss Monday's game, Moore will likely start in left field, with Michael Taylor moving over to center.

Moore got the start in left field on Sunday, going 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
Denard Span was getting a rest, pushing Michael Taylor to center field and giving Moore a rare start. Taylor appears to be Nats manager Matt Williams' preferred option in left while Jayson Werth (wrist) is out, however, so don't look for a big increase in Moore's at-bats in the short term.

Moore hit a two-run homer and added a single in five at-bats Wednesday in a win over Boston.
He'd gone 0-for-10 to start the year, so it's nice to see Moore show up in this one, though he also struck out twice. With Jayson Werth back, Moore's going to see minimal time in the outfield for the Nats, but they've got the convenience of the DH right now to get him in the lineup.
Wed Apr 15 201510:27Moore in lineup for Wednesday's game against Red Sox
Moore is in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, MLB.com's William Ladson reports.
Moore will get the start in left field in place of Jayson Werth, who will serve as the designated hitter Wednesday after playing in his first game of the season Tuesday. Moore will bat seventh against Red Sox starter Wade Miley.
Thu Apr 9 201509:50Moore not in lineup Thursday against Mets
Moore is not in the lineup Thursday against the Mets, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports.
Moore had started the first two games of the year for the Nationals, going a combined 0-for-5 at the dish with two strikeouts. He'll give way to Clint Robinson in left field Thursday afternoon, as manager Matt Williams likely wants to get another left-handed bat on his card against righty Matt Harvey.

Moore will start in left field for the Nationals on Opening Day and bat eighth, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports.
Jayson Werth should return from his shoulder injury within the next week or two, sending Moore to the bench, but in the meantime Moore will get a chance show that his big spring wasn't a fluke.

Moore will play left field and hit eighth in the Nationals' final exhibition game on Saturday against the Yankees, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports.
Other than the Nats needing a DH, Saturday's lineup looks to be the one the club will use to kick off the regular season. Coming off a big spring, Moore could provide some short-term fantasy value while he keeps a starting spot warm for Jayson Werth (shoulder).
Thu Apr 2 201509:17Moore could be Nationals' Opening Day left fielder
Moore could be the Nationals' Opening Day left fielder, the Washington Post reports.
With Jayson Werth (shoulder) and Nate McLouth (shoulder) both likely to begin the season on the DL, Moore is essentially battling newcomers Matt den Dekker and Reed Johnson for the honor, and Moore provides the club with the best offensive option of the three. He may not hold the job for long, but if he carries his hot spring forward into the regular season he could provide some early fantasy value.

Moore got the start in left field and went 2-for-3 Friday with a double, a run scored and an RBI.
He's doing everything he can to prove he deserves to be on a major league roster this year, and Moore is now hitting .387/.394/.742 in 31 at-bats, with eight of his 12 hits going for extra bases. Given the Nationals' injuries in the outfield, Moore could well break camp with the club and have some value in the early part of the season.

Moore has come out firing this spring, going 4-for-5 through the Nationals' first two games with two doubles, a triple and a home run.
He also misplayed a ball in right field, however, and unless injuries open up a roster spot Moore could have a hard time cracking the 25-man roster as a right-handed bench bat on a team with a decidedly rightward lean in its starting lineup. His best bet for regular at-bats in 2015 might have to come in another organization.
Sun Mar 1 201509:45Despite being out of options
Despite being out of options, Moore could be a bit behind Mike Carp in the spring battle for a bench spot given the Nationals' need for left-handed hitters, the Washington Post reports.
If Moore doesn't make the 25-man roster, he's unlikely to clear waivers, complicating the roster decisions for the Nats. Given the injury history of first baseman Ryan Zimmerman, whoever wins the job backing him up could have more fantasy value than expected in deeper NL-only leagues.
Mon Sep 1 201416:12Moore recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday
Moore was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.
Given the relative health of the Nats' outfield options as well as Adam LaRoche, Moore figures to be deployed primarily off the bench in September, though he could steal occasional starts at first base against left-handed pitching. Moore hit .278/.391/.514 with four homers in 72 at-bats against lefties at Syracuse this season.
Tue Jun 3 201414:30Nats option Tyler Moore to Triple-A
Nationals optioned 1B/OF Tyler Moore to Triple-A Syracuse.
This means that Greg Dobbs will remain with the team. Moore, 27, is batting .214/.295/.371 over 31 games with the Nationals this season.

Fri May 16 201422:27Moore contributes to win with 2 hits, 2 RBI
Tyler Moore went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in as the Nationals defeated the Mets on Friday.
Moore knocked in the Nationals' third run in the first inning with an RBI groundout, then added his second RBI with a single in the third inning. Moore has seen an increase in playing time since Adam LaRoche went on the disabled list and has now hit safely in four consecutive games.

Sun May 11 201409:26Tyler Moore recalled from Triple-A
Nationals recalled 1B/OF Tyler Moore from Triple-A Syracuse.
Moore has hit .200/.273/.433 in 30 at-bats with the Nats this season. He's worth owning in NL-only leagues as he sees some time at first base while Adam LaRoche (quad) is on the disabled list.
