Wed Jun 15 202215:19Josh Donaldson Returns To Lineup Wednesday
New York Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson is back at third base and is hitting fifth on Wednesday against Tampa Bay Rays left-hander Shane McClanahan after serving his one-game suspension on Tuesday. With DJ LeMahieu shifting to second base while hitting leadoff, Gleyber Torres will serve as the designated hitter and bat sixth on Wednesday. Since returning from a stint on the COVID injured list and while being sidelined with a shoulder injury, Donaldson hasn't done much at the plate, going 7-for-32 (.219) with no home runs, three RBI and nine strikeouts in eight games since June 3. Overall, he's hitting just .235/.335/.395 with five homers and 18 RBI in 191 plate appearances and will be a weak DFS play against a strong left-hander.

Sun Jun 12 202210:59Josh Donaldson Sitting Out Sunday
New York Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson is not in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs. In his absence, DJ LeMahieu will start at the hot corner and bat leadoff against Cubs right-hander Keegan Thompson. Donaldson is hitting just .235/.335/.395 with five home runs, 18 RBI, 18 runs scored and one stolen base in 191 plate appearances over 45 games this year. The 36-year-old has had a rough start to the month of June and could probably use a little break. LeMahieu, meanwhile, has gone 9-for-32 (.281) with two home runs and seven RBI in eight games so far in June. He's a very attractive DFS target in the leadoff spot on Sunday against Chicago.

Fri Jun 3 202216:03Josh Donaldson Back From Injured List And Starting Friday
New York Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson (shoulder) was activated from the injured list on Friday and is playing third base and batting cleanup against Detroit Tigers right-hander Elvin Rodriguez. Donaldson initially went on the injured list with a non-COVID illness and then dealt with right shoulder inflammation. He's been out since May 24 and received a cortisone injection in his shoulder. Donaldson should return to everyday duties at the hot corner, with DJ LeMahieu moving back to the keystone. The 36-year-old is facing a one-game suspension for an altercation with Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson before he landed on the IL. Donaldson is hitting .238/.349/.415 with five home runs, 15 RBI and 17 runs scored in 130 at-bats this season.

Tue May 31 202222:58Josh Donaldson Could Return Soon
The New York Yankees are encouraged that third baseman Josh Donaldson (shoulder) will come off the 10-day injured list soon. He was initially on the COVID-19 injured list, even though he tested negative for the virus. The Yankees then transferred Donaldson to the injured list with a shoulder injury. The 36-year-old received a cortisone injection for an issue he's dealt with off and on in the past. Whenever he returns, he'll be facing a one-game suspension for comments he made to Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson. Donaldson is eligible to return from the IL on June 3, and it sounds like he'll be back by then. Before the injury, he was hitting .238/.349/.415 with five home runs and 15 RBI. DJ LeMahieu and Marwin Gonzalez have been splitting time at the hot corner with Donaldson out.

Fri May 27 202216:16Josh Donaldson Lands On Injured List With Shoulder Injury
The New York Yankees transferred third baseman Josh Donaldson (shoulder) from the COVID-19 injured list to the 10-day injured list on Friday with right shoulder inflammation. The move is retroactive to May 24. The team also moved right-hander Chad Green (elbow) to the 60-day injured list. Whenever Donaldson returns, he could also be facing a one-game suspension for an exchange he had with Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson last weekend. Donaldson deserves to be stashed in most leagues, as he's hitting .238/.349/.414 with five homers, 15 RBI and 17 runs in 37 games in his first year in the Bronx. Marwin Gonzalez should continue to see more playing time at the hot corner with Donaldson sidelined.

The 36-year-old also has a one-game suspension (he's appealing) for comments that he made to Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson last weekend. Marwin Gonzalez continues to get most of the starts at the hot corner in Donaldson's absence. New York Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson has received a one-game suspension and a fine from Major League Baseball for his comments made to Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson on Saturday. Donaldson is appealing the suspension after being placed on the COVID-19 injured list on Monday. The 36-year-old hasn't yet tested for the virus, but he's experiencing symptoms and is away from the team for now. It remains to be seen when Donaldson will return to the active roster, but when he does, he might have to sit out another game due to the suspension. In his absence, infielders Marwin Gonzalez and Gleyber Torres should see increased playing time for the Bombers.

Mon May 23 202216:29Josh Donaldson Goes On COVID Injured List
New York Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson is going on the COVID-19 injured list on Monday, according to manager Aaron Boone. Donaldson hasn't been tested for the virus, but Boone said that he's away from the team after reporting symptoms. It remains to be seen how long the 36-year-old will be out, but he'll obviously be back sooner if he returns a negative COVID test. Marwin Gonzalez is starting at the hot corner and is batting ninth on Monday against Baltimore Orioles right-hander Jordan Lyles with Donaldson out. Gleyber Torres is at second base and is batting cleanup. Both Gonzalez and Torres should play every day until Donaldson returns to the team. Torres is hitting only .234 on the year, but he does have five home runs and 19 RBI in 38 games.

Major League Baseball will investigate New York Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson after an incident involving Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson on Saturday, when Donaldson reportedly called Anderson "Jackie," referencing Jackie Robinson. If the MLB sees fit, Donaldson could be suspended for his actions. If Major League Baseball were to suspend Donaldson, it likely would only be for a few games. The 36-year-old went 0-for-4 in the first game of a doubleheader against Chicago on Sunday and is now hitting .238/.349/.415 with five home runs, 15 RBI and 17 runs scored in 152 plate appearances in his first year in the Bronx. They have two home runs each and they're both hitting south of the Mendoza line. The two sluggers currently have a combined OPS of 1.185, which is a little south of Mike Trout's MLB-leading 1.255 OPS on his own.

Mon Apr 11 202218:08Josh Donaldson Sitting Against Blue Jays On Monday
New York Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson will be getting his first day off on Monday as the team faces his former team, the Toronto Blue Jays. DJ LeMahieu is covering third base and leading off in the game. Donaldson went 4-for-15 with six strikeouts and no walks in the team's three-game series against the Boston Red Sox. All four of his hits were singles, including a walk-off 11th inning single on Opening Day. The Yankees have a surplus of hitters right now and it's been resulting in regular day-offs for a number of the team's core players. Expect to see Donaldson back in the lineup for Tuesday's game.

Fri Apr 8 202217:14Josh Donaldson Delivers Walk-Off RBI Single
New York Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson hit a walk-off single in the team's 6-5 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Friday. It was a dramatic ending to Donaldson's first game as a Yankee. His walk-off hit came in the 11th inning of the game with the free runner on second base. He hit a hard ground ball up the middle, allowing the free runner, Isiah Kiner-Falefa in this instance, to score from second. Donaldson went 2-for-6 overall in his Yankees debut, hitting out of the leadoff spot. He's in position to score a lot of runs for what should be a productive offense this year and he should also have some strong power numbers as well.

Thu Apr 7 202215:47Josh Donaldson To Lead Off In Yankees Debut
New York Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson will be the team's leadoff hitter in his debut in Yankees pinstripes on Friday as the team takes on Nathan Eovaldi and the Boston Red Sox. Manager Aaron Boone had been discussing Donaldson as a potential leadoff hitter this spring, so it's not much of a surprise that the 36-year-old will be the first Yankee to the plate this year. Donaldson was swinging a hot bat this swing, crushing three home runs while slashing .321/.387/.679. The former AL MVP underperformed a bit last year, slashing .247/.352/.475. However, he had some promising underlying stats, such as a 99th percentile average exit velocity (94.1 mph). Look for him to put up some big counting stats this year if he can stay healthy.

Sun Mar 27 202221:17Josh Donaldson In The Mix To Lead Off
New York Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson could be in the mix to lead off, according to manager Aaron Boone. The 36-year-old crushed a home run during Sunday's matchup with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The occasional moves to the top of the lineup could be good for Donaldson's value. He has plenty of over-the-fence power and could hit 30-plus home runs in New York. This news only increases Donaldson's value, assuming he can stay healthy.

Sun Mar 13 202222:48Yankees Trading For Josh Donaldson, Isiah Kiner-Falefa
The New York Yankees are acquiring third baseman Josh Donaldson, shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa and catcher Ben Rortvedt from the Minnesota Twins on Sunday night in exchange for catcher Gary Sanchez and infielder Gio Urshela, according to a source. Donaldson will become the Yankees starting third baseman in 2022 after slashing .247/.352/.475 with 26 home runs and 72 RBI in 543 plate appearances over 135 games. The three-time All-Star has concerning injury history and is 36 years old, but he's heading to a much better lineup and hitting environment in the Bronx. Kiner-Falefa was just acquired from the Texas Rangers earlier in the week, but he'll now move to the Yankees, where he'll presumably serve as a utility infielder. IKF has some speed to spare, but unless he's playing every day, he won't have much usefulness in mixed leagues.

Fri Oct 1 202111:06Josh Donaldson Swats Three-Run Homer
Minnesota Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer and three strikeouts in Thursday's loss to Detroit. Donaldson gave Minnesota a 4-1 lead in the third inning after blasting a 422-foot homer at 108.2 MPH. The veteran third baseman did collect a hat trick of strikeouts, but it was nice to see him leave the yard after going nine games without a round-tripper. Donaldson has been able to stay on the field more so than in past years, delivering a solid .823 OPS with 25 homers, 70 RBI, and 70 runs scored.

Wed Sep 22 202110:55Josh Donaldson Fills Up The Box Score In Tuesday's Win
Minnesota Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double, two runs scored, and two RBI in Tuesday's 9-5 win over the Cubs. Donaldson hit a sacrifice fly in the first inning, walked and scored a run in the fourth inning, then collected a two-run single. He later ripped a 108.6 MPH double and scored his second run to cap off a productive night. Donaldson has been excellent over his last four games played, as he's gone 6-for-13 with two home runs, five RBI, and five runs scored. He's getting hot at the right time for fantasy managers, who should start him without hesitation.

Sat Sep 18 202110:32Josh Donaldson Goes Yard Friday
Minnesota Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson went 2-for-5 with a double and a home run in Friday's win over the Blue Jays. Donaldson contributed to a five-run third inning, sending a ball 382 feet into the seats at 101.5 MPH. It's his 23rd homer of the year. Donaldson has been a frustrating fantasy asset, as his .813 OPS and expected statistics point to a productive player, though he's had trouble staying healthy once again. Hopefully, this game is the start of a good stretch for the slumping Donaldson.

Mon Aug 30 202117:41Josh Donaldson Goes Yard In Monday's Win
Minnesota Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, and two RBI in Monday's victory over the Tigers. Donaldson hammered the ball all day, registering exit velocities of at least 103 MPH on all four of his batted balls, topping out at 110.6 MPH on a mammoth, two-run homer. The veteran third baseman is on fire at the plate, having rattled off multi-hit games in five of his last seven contests while hitting four homers with eight RBI in that span. He's an excellent DFS option while in the midst of such a hot streak.

Minnesota Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson went 2-for-5 with a home run, double, and two RBI in Wednesday's win over the Red Sox. The veteran third baseman is currently rolling, having gone 5-for-17 with three homers, five RBI, and four runs scored in his last four games played. Donaldson owns strong career numbers against Thursday's starter Chris Sale, as he's batting .318 with three long balls in 22 at-bats against the lefty.
