ATLANTA (AP) — Jacob deGrom struck out a season-high 10 in six innings and the New York Mets snapped a five-game skid Monday night with a 7-2 victory over the Braves that was overshadowed by a season-ending injury to Atlanta ace Mike Soroka. Soroka tore his Achilles tendon in the third inning as he took a step toward first to cover the bag — a huge blow to the two-time defending NL East champions. Robinson Canó had three RBIs before leaving the game himself — one of three New York infielders who went down with injuries. Wilson Ramos added a two-run homer for the Mets, who avoided a four-game sweep and ended Atlanta’s five-game winning streak. LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired infielder Clayton Daniel from the Chicago Cubs on Friday in exchange for right-hander Casey Sadler.Daniel has been in the Cubs organization for two years, hitting a combined .290 with 72 runs scored and 36 RBIs across four different minor league levels. Last year, the 24-year-old from Alabama split his time between Low-A South Bend and Double-A Tennessee, hitting a combined .305 with 21 RBIs. He was drafted in the 31st round out of Jacksonville State in 2018.Sadler was designated for assignment Wednesday after spending most of last season with the Dodgers. The 29-year-old from Oklahoma was 4-0 with a 2.33 ERA in 24 appearances, including one start. He was originally acquired on July 3 from Tampa Bay in exchange for right-hander Nathan Witt. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urìas has accepted a 20-game suspension by Major League Baseball for a domestic violence incident and is expected to return in September.MLB gave him credit for serving five games while he was on administrative leave in May, leaving 15 remaining to serve without pay.The commissioner's office said Saturday that Urìas has agreed not to appeal the discipline and will participate in an evaluation and treatment program.The Dodgers said in a statement that they support MLB's decision while also being encouraged that Urìas took responsibility for his actions. (AP) — Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe was added to the AL All-Star team Wednesday but the rookie may not be able to play in next Tuesday night's game because of a right leg injury.Lowe was forced out of Tuesday night's game soon after sharply fouling a ball off his leg in the sixth inning of a 6-3 win over Baltimore. He finished the at-bat, grounding a single to left, but struggled to reach first base."As of right now, nothing is really set in stone," Lowe said Wednesday. "We're still looking at stuff, doing some treatment.
