Thu May 12 202214:43Brian Anderson To Play In Rehab Game Thursday
Miami Marlins third baseman Brian Anderson will play in a minor league rehab game on Thursday night with Single-A Jupiter. Anderson is getting close to returning to the major league roster after landing on the COVID-19 injured list. The 28-year-old should return to Miami's lineup for the weekend series against the Milwaukee Brewers. Anderson is a low-ceiling fantasy asset at third base, and he was hitting .258/.387/.774 with a homer, two RBI, 13 runs scored and a stolen base in 20 games before testing positive for the virus. In his best season in six years in the majors, Anderson hit 20 home runs and drove in 66 runs in 126 games in 2019. He has played in over 100 games only twice in his six seasons.

Fri May 6 202222:06Brian Anderson Hits Injured List Friday
Miami Marlins third baseman Brian Anderson was placed on the COVID-19 injured list on Friday. Anderson was not listed with an injury designation, so it is likely either he returned a positive COVID-19 test or was in close contact with someone else who tested positive. The Marlins recalled outfielder Bryan De La Cruz in a corresponding move to take Anderson's spot on the roster. Anderson is hitting .258 with one homer, 13 runs, two RBI, and a steal across 62 at-bats in 2022.

Sat Mar 19 202219:29Brian Anderson Blasts A Three-Run Bomb On Saturday
Miami Marlins third baseman Brian Anderson hit a three-run home run in Saturday's Grapefruit League win over the Houston Astros. Anderson missed a lot of the 2021 season due to injury, but in the 67 games he did play, he put up a .249/.337/.378 line. He's capable of much better, as he showed in 2019 and 2020. He'll be part of a slightly improved Marlins lineup, and could be a solid NL-only contributor in the upcoming season.

He appeared in 67 games for the Marlins this year and slashed .249/.337/.378 with seven home runs, five stolen bases, 28 RBI and 24 runs.

Fri Sep 3 202117:17Brian Anderson Back To The Injured List
Miami Marlins third baseman Brian Anderson (shoulder) is on his way back to the injured list, and may not play again this season. Anderson previously spent time on the injured list with a left shoulder subluxation, and that's what this new injury is being described as also. If Anderson's season is indeed over, he'll finish 2021 with a .249/.337/.378 line in just 67 games played. Anderson hasn't played in more than 126 games since his rookie season of 2018. Isan Diaz and Joe Panik figure to get most of the starts at third base for the Marlins for the remainder of the season. Neither player should be anywhere near any fantasy team.

Isan Diaz is starting at third base and batting sixth in Sunday's game. Diaz can be used as a streamer and is locked in at the plate in August. Diaz is hitting sixth versus Morton. You're probably best off looking elsewhere for streaming help in both daily fantasy play and in season-long formats. Diaz is hitting .197 with a .303 on-base percentage, four home runs, and a stolen base in 208 plate appearances this year.

Sat Aug 14 202121:53Brian Anderson Cranks A Three-Run Homer On Saturday
Miami Marlins third baseman Brian Anderson smashed a three-run home run in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Chicago Cubs. Anderson went 1-for-4 with a run scored and four RBI. His blast came with two on and two out in the sixth inning and counted for the first three runs the Marlins scored on the day. Anderson has mostly struggled since returning from an extended stay on the injured list due to an oblique injury, but he has had some short hot streaks along the way. Perhaps this will be the start of what can extend into a longer streak. For now, Anderson is batting .254 with a .715 OPS, six home runs, and 23 RBI.

Anderson is batting .253 with a .324 on-base percentage, five home runs, and four stolen bases in 179 plate appearances this season. However, it'll be Isan Diaz starting at third base for Miami on Friday as the team begins a road series against the Colorado Rockies. The 25-year-old is hitting fifth against Colorado right-hander German Marquez. You're probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming help on Friday as Diaz is hitting .178 with a .299 on-base percentage and three home runs in 174 plate appearances this season.

Tue May 25 202123:03Velasquez sharp, Hoskins homers, Phillies blank Marlins 2-0
MIAMI (AP) — Vince Velasquez pitched three-hit ball for six innings, Rhys Hoskins homered and the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Miami Marlins 2-0 Tuesday night. The Phillies won hours after putting slugger Bryce Harper on the 10-day injured list because of a bruised left forearm. Scratched from his previous start because of finger discomfort on his pitching hand, Velasquez (2-0) struck out five and walked three. The right-hander continued a solid May, lowering his ERA this month to 1.17 in four starts and one relief outing. “I wasn’t really trying to blow anyone away," Velasquez said. “I tried to go deep in the game and have our bullpen come in and shut the door down. But at the same time if I’m in any type of jam, I’m not giving up,” Phillies manager Joe Girardi praised Velasquez for his recent impressive stretch of outings. “He’s been throwing the ball extremely well,” Girardi said. “He’s in a really good rhythm, he believes in what he’s doing and just keep it rolling.” Hoskins hit... Tue May 25 202119:23Marlins 3B Anderson sidelined for at least several weeks
MIAMI (AP) — Miami Marlins third baseman Brian Anderson will be sidelined for at least several weeks with a partial shoulder dislocation and was put on the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Surgery is a possibility, general manager Kim Ng said. “The most important thing for us right now is to give it some time to let the inflammation, pain and discomfort subside before we can give any further evaluation,” Ng said. The Marlins reinstated Isan Díaz from the injured list. In Anderson's absence, Díaz and Jon Berti are expected to share time at third. Anderson is batting .250 with three homers and 11 RBIs. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Corey Kluber threw the the major leagues’ sixth no-hitter this season and second in two nights, leading the New York Yankees over the Texas Rangers 2-0 on Wednesday night. The 35-year-old right-hander, a two-time American League Cy Young Award winner, came within a four-pitch walk to Charlie Culberson in the third inning of throwing a perfect game. Kluber pitched his gem a night after Detroit's Spencer Turnbull threw one against Seattle, marking the first no-hitters on consecutive days since 1969. Kluber (4-2) struck out nine and and threw 71 of 101 pitches for strikes in his ninth start for the Yankees. Kluber was pitching on the mound when he was hurt after one inning last season for the Rangers, when he tore a muscle in his right shoulder on July 26 in his Texas debut. It was the 12th no-hitter in Yankees history, the 11th in the regular season and the first since David Cone’s perfect game against Montreal on July 18, 1999. It was the fifth against the Rangers,... ST. LOUIS (AP) — Kyle Schwarber doubled in a run in his delayed Washington debut, Andrew Stevenson had a pinch-hit homer and the Nationals beat the St. Louis Cardinals 5-2 on Monday night. Wed Feb 24 202114:45Marlins killer Adam Duvall is now on their side and in RF
MIAMI (AP) — Adam Duvall gave the Miami Marlins fits last year, and they solved the problem by bringing him over to their side. Duvall hit five homers for Atlanta in nine games against Miami and had an OPS of 1.201. The Marlins were especially mindful of his three-homer, nine-RBI game in the midst of the playoff race when they signed him to a $5 million, one-year deal two weeks ago. “They talked about how I had had some success against them,” Duvall said with a laugh Wednesday. His signing changes the Marlins' outlook as full-squad spring training workouts begin in Jupiter, Florida. They're planning to plug him into right field and the middle of lineup, where he provides a significant power upgrade for an offense that ranked fifth-worst in MLB in homers in 2020. Duvall hit 16 for the Braves, five more than Marlins leader Brian Anderson. “Adam has solidified right field for us,” manager Don Mattingly said. “He's a guy who is big and strong and capable of hitting the ball out of the ballpark,... Tue Feb 23 202119:04Marlins overachiever Rojas still improving as he turns 32
MIAMI (AP) — The Miami Marlins were about to take the field Tuesday for the initial full-squad workout of spring training, and manager Don Mattingly was eager to get his first look at a team trending upward and filled with players still growing into the job. That included shortstop Miguel Rojas, who turns 32 Wednesday. “I'm going to quit setting the bar on Miggy,” Mattingly said. “Every time you say that’s as good as he can get, he gets better.” Rojas has been with the Marlins since 2015, longer than any other player. He's a perfect fit for the small-budget franchise because he's an overachiever, and thus a sound investment. He's also the undisputed clubhouse leader who knows there's still work to be done for a team that last year made a surprising run to its first postseason berth since 2003. “We're getting picked again to be last in the division,” Rojas said with a smile. “That chip on the shoulder is still going to be there.” That chip has long helped to drive Rojas, who broke into the...
