Michael Taylor (pinkie) will swing a bat Monday.

Taylor has been sidelined for the last week with a lacerated right pinkie. If he shows he can swing without out, he should be cleared to return to game action.

The 27-year old is following the lead of teammate Brandon Moss, who made the same transition last season. Taylor has had some success in the minor leagues, but it has yet to translate in the majors. Increasing his versatility only stands to help the former top prospect.

There's little chance that he'll enter 2011 with a chance to start for the A's, but he could be first in line when outfield injuries strike.
