Fri Jul 21 202314:44Jarren Duran Playing On Friday
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran will make his return to the starting lineup for Friday's game against the New York Mets. The lefty outfielder sat out Thursday's game due to the fact left-hander Ken Waldichuk was on the mound for Oakland. Duran will return to the leadoff spot and cover left field versus right-hander Kodai Senga on Friday. Fantasy managers who are rostering Duran should make sure to get him back in their lineups here.

Thu Jul 6 202314:33Jarren Duran Sitting On Thursday
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is on the bench Thursday night when the club takes on the Texas Rangers and right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. Needless to say, it's been a fantastic season for the 26-year-old as Duran is hitting .309 with four homers, 16 stolen bases, and an .849 OPS across 240 plate appearances. Duran has also added a hefty 26 doubles to his ledger, tied for fourth-most in all of baseball. Despite his strong season, Duran continues to share playing time in a crowded Red Sox outfield that contains productive bats in the form of Adam Duvall, Masataka Yoshida, and Alex Verdugo. It's Yoshida that will take over in left field and hit third against Eovaldi Thursday night at Fenway Park.

Thu Jun 29 202317:59Jarren Duran Starting On Bench Versus Lefty
Boston Red Sox center fielder Jarren Duran is not in Thursday's lineup versus lefty Jesus Luzardo and the Miami Marlins. Rob Refsnyder will park in left field and bat third in this one. Duran takes a seat while hitting .250 with a .618 OPS over 32 at-bats against southpaws as opposed to batting .300 with an .820 OPS across 170 ABs vs. right-handers this year. The 26-year-old is set to face two righties during a weekend series with the Toronto Blue Jays, so fantasy managers should be able to get some streaming value out of Duran on those occasions.

Fri Jun 23 202318:20Jarren Duran Sitting Out On Friday
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Chicago White Sox. This marks the second time in the last four games that Duran has sat out against a right-handed starter. It's a bit concerning that the Red Sox continue to bench Duran. He has a decent slash line, but maybe the team wanted to go with a different matchup here. Rob Refsnyder will bat leadoff and cover left field versus right-hander Lucas Giolito on Friday.

Sat Jun 10 202318:13Jarren Duran Sitting Out On Saturday
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the New York Yankees. The 26-year-old doesn't appear to be dealing with an injury, but is out of the lineup for the second straight game. It looks like the return of Adam Duvall is going to strip away playing time from Duran. On Saturday, Duvall will cover center field and bat fifth versus right-hander Domingo German. Honestly, it wouldn't be shocking to see Duran get optioned to the minors. He'd be better served getting everyday at-bats in Triple-A instead of playing off the bench in Boston.

Thu May 4 202316:50Jarren Duran Batting Fifth Again Thursday
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is in the lineup for Thursday's contest against Kevin Gausman and the Toronto Blue Jays. The third-year player seems to have put his first two seasons behind him, as he's slashing .400/.444/.691 with a pair of long balls, 11 runs, 12 RBI, and two steals across 16 games. And after batting no higher than seventh in Duran's first nine games, manager Alex Cora has moved him up to the fifth spot in four of his last five. If the 26-year-old is still available, he's a solid option to target for fantasy managers in need of outfield help.

Sat Oct 1 202213:46Jarren Duran Optioned To Triple-A Again
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran has been optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Saturday. Boston called him on Friday but his stay with the big league club was brief. The Red Sox added Kaleb Ort and Josh Winckowski to their active roster in a pair of corresponding moves. Duran struggled whenever he was up with the Red Sox this year but he'll have a chance to compete for a roster spot next spring. He's still just 26 years old and possesses a lot of ability

Sat Aug 27 202213:29Jarren Duran Optioned To Triple-A Worcester
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran has been optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Saturday. The 25-year-old center fielder has struggled mightily this season, putting up a lackluster .220/.283/.365 triple-slash line to go along with three home runs, 17 RBI, and seven stolen bases over 200 at-bats. He'll try and rebuild his confidence in Triple-A as the Red Sox look to keep their shrinking playoff hopes alive without him. There's still some long-term upside here but Duran has a .218 batting average and .624 OPS in 307 career at-bats at the major league level.

Fri Jul 8 202216:26Jarren Duran To Sit Out On Friday
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the New York Yankees. This doesn't come as much of a surprise considering Duran went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts on Thursday. Rob Refsnyder will bat leadoff and play center field versus lefty Nestor Cortes. Fantasy managers should be able to find a better streaming option than Refsnyder for Friday's game. The expectation is that Duran will return after his routine rest day.

Thu Jun 30 202215:48Jarren Duran, Tanner Houck Back From Restricted List
The Boston Red Sox activated outfielder Jarren Duran and right-hander Tanner Houck from the restricted list on Thursday and optioned infielder Yolmer Sanchez to Triple-A Worcester and designated right-hander Silvino Bracho for assignment in corresponding moves. Duran and Houck were unavailable for the series against the Blue Jays in Toronto this week because they aren't vaccinated against COVID. Duran is hitting well in his second major league season, going 17-for-52 (.327) with three RBI and four stolen bases in just 13 games. Houck, who has six saves and 47 strikeouts in 47 1/3 innings over 22 outings (four starts), should return to being a favorite for closing duties in Boston this weekend against the Chicago Cubs.

Mon Jun 27 202217:36Jarren Duran, Tanner Houck Put On Restricted List
The Boston Red Sox placed outfielder Jarren Duran and relief pitcher Tanner Houck on the restricted list on Monday and recalled right-hander Connor Seabold from Triple-A Worcester and selected the contract of infielder Yolmer Sanchez from Worcester in corresponding moves. Duran and Houck remain unvaccinated for COVID-19, so they'll be unavailable for the series in Toronto this week against the Blue Jays. With Houck not available in the back of Boston's bullpen, John Schreiber, Matt Strahm and possibly Jake Diekman will vie for save chances in Toronto. With Duran out on Monday, Rob Refsnyder is starting in right field and batting leadoff against Jays right-hander ... [More]

Mon Jun 6 202221:30Jarren Duran Optioned To Triple-A Monday
The Boston Red Sox optioned outfielder Jarren Duran to Triple-A Worcester on Monday. Duran was optioned to make room for Jackie Bradley Jr., who was reinstated from the paternity leave list ahead of the team's Monday game against the Los Angeles Angels. Duran played two games for the Red Sox while Bradley was on the paternity list, going 3-for-9 with a run and four strikeouts.

Fri Jun 3 202221:29Jarren Duran Recalled On Friday
The Boston Red Sox recalled outfielder Jarren Duran on Friday ahead of their game against the Oakland A's. Duran was recalled to take the place of outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr., who was placed on the paternity list earlier in the day. The 25-year-old Duran has appeared in just one game for the Red Sox this season, going 1-for-4 with a run. Duran has plenty of speed which makes him interesting in fantasy, but his time with the big-league club is likely to end once Bradley is ready to be reinstated in the next few days.

Fri May 6 202209:02Jarren Duran To Be Called Up On Friday
The Boston Red Sox will be calling up outfielder Jarren Duran from Triple-A ahead of Friday's game against the Chicago White Sox, according to Alex Speier of the Boston Globe. No word has been given yet on whose roster spot he will be replacing. The 25-year-old played in 33 games for the Red Sox last year and slashed .215/.241/.336 with two home runs, two stolen bases, 10 RBI and 17 runs. He had some major plate discipline problems with a 35.7% strikeout rate and a 3.6% walk rate. Over 14 games at Triple-A this year, he's hit .370/.460/.574 with one home run, four doubles and seven stolen bases. He's a player worth rostering in most five-outfielder leagues and all AL-only and extra deep leagues as he could be a solid contributor of both power and speed for fantasy managers.

Mon Mar 28 202214:35Jarren Duran Optioned To Triple-A
The Boston Red Sox optioned outfielder Jarren Duran, along with Ronaldo Hernandez and Connor Wong, to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday. Duran made his major league debut in Boston last year, but he'll head back to the minors to kick off 2022. He struggled in his first taste of big-league pitching last year, hitting .215/.241/.336 with a 35.7% strikeout rate in 33 games. But Duran was solid at Triple-A, slashing .258/.357/.516 with 16 home runs, 36 RBI, 46 runs scored and 16 stolen bases in 283 plate appearances over 60 games. MLB Pipeline's No. 85 overall prospect should be back with the Red Sox at some point in 2021, and the left-handed hitter is the best athlete and their fastest runner in the system.

Sun Aug 29 202122:25Jarren Duran Swipes Second Base
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran drew the start in center field Sunday, batting eighth against Cleveland, and he responded by going 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base. The steal was his second of the season. It's been a tough start to his big league career for Duran, who's slashing just .220/.248/.350 in his first 100 big league at-bats. Duran was recently sent down to the minors, but injuries and COVID cases have offered him a reprieve for now. He only needs to be rostered in keeper and dynasty leagues.

Sat Aug 14 202112:27Jarren Duran Drives In Two Friday
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran was dropped to the eighth spot in the lineup against the Baltimore Orioles Friday, and he went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and a run scored. This solid game was badly needed for Duran, who has struck out in 30 of his 74 at-bats this year. With Kyle Schwarber off the injured list, Duran's days as a member of the starting lineup (or even the major-league team) may be numbered. In redraft leagues, Duran is not a roster lock for fantasy managers.

Sun Aug 8 202113:05J.D. Martinez, Jarren Duran Return For Red Sox
Boston Red Sox designated hitter J.D. Martinez and outfielder Jarren Duran have both cleared Covid protocols and rejoined the team Sunday, according to The Athletic. Martinez is batting fifth against the Toronto Blue Jays with Hyun-Jin Ryu on the mound while Duran is in left field and hitting ninth. Martinez has been terrific in 2021, slashing .284/.350/.525 with 21 home runs, 68 RBI, and 69 runs scored across 449 plate appearances. He's a fantasy must-start while Duran, hitting .176 in 51 at-bats, is still a rookie to monitor.

Fri Aug 6 202118:09Jarren Duran Placed On COVID-19 IL
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran (COVID-19) was placed on the COVID-19 injured list on Friday, according to Alex Speier of the Boston Globe. Duran's agent Barret Arthur said that Duran has received multiple negative tests for COVID-19, and as of now he is currently on the IL due only to displaying symptoms. Barring any changes, it seems like this will be a short stay on the injured list for Duran, and he should be back in the lineup soon. Managers should check for updates throughout the weekend on his condition.

Thu Aug 5 202112:58Jarren Duran Not Starting On Thursday
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran isn't in the team's lineup for a Thursday contest against the Detroit Tigers and left-handed starter Tarik Skubal. Duran is batting .180 with a .208 on-base percentage, two home runs, and a stolen base in 53 plate appearances so far this season. Enrique Hernandez has moved to center field in Duran's place and will bat leadoff. Marwin Gonzalez is starting at second base and hitting ninth. Considering Hernandez starts most days for Boston, this is essentially Gonzalez replacing Duran in the lineup. The 32-year-old is batting .202 with a .281 on-base percentage, two home runs, and three stolen bases in 250 plate appearances this season. You're probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming options.
