Chicago White Sox outfielder Dominic Fletcher (shoulder) will begin his minor-league rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on Friday as he recovers from a sprained left shoulder. Fletcher has missed most of June but has been cleared to resume playing in games as he looks to make his way back to the major-league roster before the All-Star break in mid-July. It's unclear exactly when he'll be able to come off the 10-day injured list, but even when he does, he's probably just going to be a left-handed outfield bat off the bench for the Pale Hose. The 26-year-old former second-round pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2019 out of Arkansas has gone just 13-for-75 (.173) this year with no home runs, six RBI and four runs scored for the White Sox in limited playing time.

Fletcher, the team's No. 15 prospect per MLB Pipeline, provided an early boost after initially being called up, but he's gone 6-for-36 (.167) with 10 K's on the team's recent road trip. The 25-year-old McCarthy is the favorite to start in center once again and will be a popular waiver-wire pickup in deep-mixed leagues if he's still available.
