Thu Aug 1512:15Kevin Kiermaier Sitting Out In Series Finale
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Kevin Kiermaier will head to the bench for Thursday's series finale against the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field. Rookie Andy Pages will make the start in center field for the Blue and will bat eighth against Brewers right-hander Tobias Myers. While the veteran Kiermaier hasn't done much offensively this year between the Toronto Blue Jays and Dodgers, LA has preferred his glove in center field of late over Pages. The 34-year-old has hit just .200 (4-for-20) with a double, RBI and a stolen base in his first nine games for the Dodgers and can be left on the waiver wire in mixed fantasy leagues. Pages boasts much more offensive upside in fantasy but will be a low-upside DFS sleeper on Thursday out of the eight-hole.

Fri Aug 221:28Kevin Kiermaier Making Dodgers Debut Friday
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Kevin Kiermaier will make his Dodgers debut on Friday night against the Oakland Athletics and will hit eighth in the lineup. Acquired at the trade deadline from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for relief pitcher Ryan Yarbrough, Kiermaier will look to improve at the plate as his 54 OPS+ makes him a weak out at the bottom of a top-heavy Dodgers lineup. The 34-year-old should get plenty of chances to improve at the plate, though, given the Dodgers' inadequacy in the outfield outside of Teoscar Hernandez. Kiermaier also ranks in the 96th percentile of Fielding Run Value according to Statcast, so if he can't provide value at the plate he should still bring the Dodgers value with his glove. Fantasy managers may want to steer clear, though, since fielding value doesn't equate to fantasy value.

Tue Jul 3019:07Kevin Kiermaier Goes To Dodgers
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier has been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday. The 34-year-old recently said he plans to retire after the 2024 season. It appears he'll get a chance to go out as a champion with the Dodgers. Kiermaier has been terrible with the bat this season but continues to play solid defense. That being said, he'll probably serve as a bench bat and late-game defensive replacement for the Dodgers. In exchange, the Blue Jays will receive left-hander Ryan Yarbrough. The veteran left-hander has a 3.74 ERA across 32 appearances with the Dodgers this season.

Wed Jul 2418:12Kevin Kiermaier Plans To Retire After 2024 Season
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier is expected to retire after the 2024 season. The 34-year-old has played 12 seasons in the big leagues. Kiermaier spent the first 10 years of his career with the Tampa Bay Rays. He has played with the Blue Jays each of the last two seasons. The veteran outfielder was placed on waivers a few weeks ago after struggling during the first few months of the season. He's still a solid defensive outfielder but his bat has seen a significant drop in production. Best of luck to him after he hangs up his cleats following the 2024 campaign.

Thu Jul 1117:27Blue Jays Put Kevin Kiermaier On Waivers
The Toronto Blue Jays have placed veteran outfielder Kevin Kiermaier on revocable waivers, according to sources. The Blue Jays are likely hoping a team will claim Kiermaier and take around $4.5 million off of the $10.5 million, one-year deal he signed in the offseason. That is unlikely to happen given how badly Kiermaier has struggled in 2024, but it's a clear indicator that Toronto will be sellers ahead of the July 30 trade deadline this summer. They are also likely trying to fall under the $237 million luxury tax threshold, as they are currently projected to be $10 million over that figure. The 34-year-old can still play a solid center field at his age, but he entered Thursday's action hitting just .183/.232/.290 with a .522 OPS, three homers, 13 RBI and five steals in 169 games as the fourth outfielder in Toronto.

Mon May 2712:07Justin Turner, Kevin Kiermaier Not Playing Monday
Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter Justin Turner and outfielder Kevin Kiermaier are both starting on the bench for Monday's contest in Chicago against the White Sox. Turner has lost playing time of late, with this being the third time in the last five games that he finds himself on the bench to start. Kiermaier, meanwhile, will ride the pine for the second straight day. Daniel Vogelbach is serving as the DH and will hit fifth, while Daulton Varsho starts in center field and bats sixth against White Sox right-handed rookie Nick Nastrini. Davis Schneider is in left field and is batting leadoff for the Jays. Turner has had a disastrous month of May, hitting .102 (6-for-59) without a home run to drop his season line to .222/.301/.359. Kiermaier hasn't been much better in 2024, hitting .226 (.21-for-93) with only one homer and seven RBI.

Tue May 2118:54Kevin Kiermaier Sitting Versus Southpaw
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Chicago White Sox. The Blue Jays will play matchups here and give Kiermaier the night off against tough left-hander Garrett Crochet. In his absence, Daulton Varsho will bat seventh and cover center field on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.

Sat May 1112:00Kevin Kiermaier, George Springer Still Out Sick
Toronto Blue Jays outfielders Kevin Kiermaier (illness) and George Springer (illness) remain out of the starting lineup on Saturday against the visiting Minnesota Twins for the second straight day as they remain under the weather. Daulton Varsho is back in center field and is batting second, while Cavan Biggio is in right field and is hitting eighth in the batting order against Twins rookie right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson. Davis Schneider is back in left field and in the leadoff spot for the Jays. Fantasy managers need to keep both Kiermaier and Springer benched for another day and check back to see if they're feeling good enough to play in the series finale on Sunday. Nobody in Toronto's lineup has faced Woods Richardson in their careers.

Fri May 1016:51Kevin Kiermaier, George Springer Both Out Sick Friday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielders Kevin Kiermaier (illness) and George Springer (illness) are both out of Friday's lineup against the visiting Minnesota Twins because they are sick, according to manager John Schneider. Daulton Varsho is starting in center field and is batting second, while Cavan Biggio is in right field and is hitting seventh against Twins right-hander Joe Ryan. Davis Schneider is in left field and is batting leadoff for the Jays. With Springer under the weather and struggling offensively for much of the year so far, it's possible Schneider sees more time in the leadoff spot, even when Springer gets over his illness. Fantasy baseball managers will need to check back on Saturday to see if either Kiermaier or Springer are feeling well enough to get back on the field for the second game of the weekend series.

Sat May 413:36Kevin Kiermaier Activated From Injured List
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier (hip) has been activated from the 10-day injured list and will start in Saturday's lineup as the Blue Jays continue a three-game set against right-handed pitcher Jake Irvin and the Washington Nationals. Kiermaier only stayed on the injured list for a minimum of ten days and should be expected to return to his everyday role in center field. The 34-year-old struggled at the plate to open the season with a .193/.246/.228 line but put up a solid .265/.322/.419 line last season, so fantasy managers should expect a nice turnaround. He swiped 14 bags last season and already stole two before being placed on the injured list and remains on pace to smash his 2023 total. Kiermaier remains an AL-only option but could be deployed in a good matchup in DFS.

Wed Apr 2419:15Kevin Kiermaier Placed On 10-Day Injured List
The Toronto Blue Jays placed outfielder Kevin Kiermaier (hip) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with left-hip flexor inflammation and recalled utility man Addison Barger from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. Kiermaier was injured in Tuesday's contest and will now miss at least the next 10 days. Considering the 34-year-old's injury history, it wouldn't be a surprise if he missed more than the required 10 days on the IL. Kiermaier will be eligible to return on May 4. Daulton Varsho is moving to center field and batting cleanup on Wednesday, while Barger will make his major-league debut in left field while hitting eighth against Kansas City Royals right-hander Alec Marsh. Barger, who hits from the left side, is likely to see some playing time against right-handed pitching and is worth a deep-league pickup for his power upside.

Fri Apr 513:01Kevin Kiermaier Scratched With Back Tightness
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier (back) was scratched from Friday's lineup against the New York Yankees with lower-back tightness. With Kiermaier now out, Daulton Varsho is moving to center field and will bat eighth, while Davis Schneider moves to left field and will hit fifth against Yankees right-hander Marcus Stroman. Cavan Biggio enters the lineup at second base and will hit sixth. The 33-year-old Kiermaier should be considered day-to-day for now, but fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if the veteran outfielder misses more than just one day with this injury. On top of now being hurt, he has just one hit in his first 20 plate appearances in 2024 over six games with an RBI, stolen base and six strikeouts for Toronto.

Sun Mar 3113:31Kevin Kiermaier On The Bench Sunday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. The 33-year-old started the first three games of the season for Toronto, going 1-for-10 with one RBI and a walk. Kiermaier was battling a knee injury during Spring Training, but he seemed no worse for wear throughout the weekend. Daulton Varsho will slide over to centerfield in his absence while Davis Schneider will start in left. Kiermaier remains nothing more than a depth option in AL-Only or deep league formats.

Sun Mar 2400:32Kevin Kiermaier Suffers Knee Contusion, Expected Back Soon
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier (knee) exited Saturday's spring game against the Detroit Tigers after fouling a ball off his right knee. Kiermaier went 0-for-1 with a strikeout before exiting. The 33-year-old is expected to be fine and would have stayed in the game if it were the regular season. He is considered day-to-day, with Sunday being the earliest he could return to the lineup. Kiermaier slashed .265/.322/.419 with eight home runs, 36 RBI, 58 runs, and 14 stolen bases over 408 plate appearances in 2023. He signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the Jays during the offseason to be the team's starting center fielder. Kiermaier has an ADP of 685 and is mainly a fantasy option in AL-Only or deep league formats.

Tue Dec 26 202316:55Kevin Kiermaier Returning To Toronto
Outfielder Kevin Kiermaier has agreed to a contract to head back to the Toronto Blue Jays, pending a physical. The 33-year-old doesn't offer much in fantasy outside of AL-only or the deepest of leagues, as he has a history of injuries and provides little in the run-scoring categories. He swiped 14 bases last season, however, and hit .265, so he wasn't useless. A glove-first defender, Kiermaier represents a good low-risk option for Toronto, though they are still tied to Cody Bellinger. With a career .249/.309/.409 slash line, the Blue Jays know what they are getting from Kiermaier and can only hope he stays healthy enough to provide the excellent defense he has in the past.

Fri Nov 10 202314:41Yankees Discussing Adding Kevin Kiermaier
The New York Yankees are reportedly discussing adding free-agent outfielder Kevin Kiermaier this offseason. The 33-year-old won a Golden Glove in 2023, which now gives him four in his career. He slashed .265/.322/.419 with eight homers, 36 RBI and 14 stolen bases during his first season with the Toronto Blue Jays last season. It appears the Yankees want to prioritize defense in the outfield, so Kiermaier would be a great fit. The left-handed slugger should also draw more interest from around the league, so Kiermaier should have multiple options this offseason.

Sat Aug 26 202312:23Kevin Kiermaier Retreats To The Bench
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier will start Saturday's game against the visiting Cleveland Guardians on the bench with left-hander Logan Allen on the mound. The left-handed-hitting Kiermaier is actually hitting .299 (20-for-67) against southpaws in 2023, but he's yet to go deep against them in 43 games. Daulton Varsho will start in center field and bat ninth for the Jays against Allen, with Whit Merrifield shifting to left field. Kiermaier has had a pretty solid season in his first year in Toronto, slashing .267/.326/.414 with six home runs, 14 doubles, five triples, 30 RBI, 11 stolen bases and 42 runs scored in 101 games. However, he's faded of late, going 7-for-31 (.226) with a homer, double, six RBI and three runs scored in 12 games (nine starts) so far in August.

Sat Aug 19 202316:32Kevin Kiermaier Resting On Saturday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier is out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Kiermaier returned on Friday after missing some time due to an elbow laceration. This doesn't appear to be related at all and is just a routine rest day for the veteran outfielder. Daulton Varsho will cover center field and bat ninth versus left-hander Brandon Williamson on Saturday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly with Kiermaier out.

Fri Aug 18 202316:10Kevin Kiermaier Activated From Injured List
The Toronto Blue Jays activated outfielder Kevin Kiermaier (elbow) and right-hander Trevor Richards (neck) from the injured list on Friday and optioned outfielder Nathan Lukes and right-hander Jay Jackson to Triple-A Buffalo in corresponding moves. Kiermaier will immediately return to the starting lineup on Friday against Cincinnati Reds right-hander Brett Kennedy, playing center field and batting in the nine-hole. The 33-year-old veteran outfield spent the minimal time on the IL with a right-elbow laceration. Hopefully he'll be able to pick up where he left off in the second half of the season, as he's gone 15-for-51 (.294) with a homer, two doubles, eight RBI, a stolen base and seven runs scored in 21 games (16 starts) since the All-Star break. Kiermaier will have a low DFS ceiling on Friday in the nine-hole.

Tue Aug 15 202320:17Kevin Kiermaier On Track To Return Friday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier (elbow) is on track to be activated from the injured list on Friday. He took batting practice on the field on Tuesday and said he felt good swinging a bat. It's good news for Kiermaier, considering he still has eight stitches in his right arm. Daulton Varsho has been playing center field of late for Toronto, but when healthy, Kiermaier has been the team's regular center fielder in 2023. The 33-year-old veteran is having a very solid season in his first year in Toronto, slashing .274/.336/.415 with five home runs, 13 doubles, five triples, 27 RBI, 11 stolen bases and 41 runs scored in 299 trips to the plate and 95 games played. Kiermaier has minimal power and his fantasy ceiling is limited, but he has appeal in deeper leagues for his speed in a potent Jays lineup.
