DeJesus went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer in the Rays' win over the Marlins on Sunday.

With John Jaso (wrist) on the disabled list and still unable to swing a bat, DeJesus could see an uptick in playing time over the coming weeks, specifically against right-handed starters. In the two games he's played thus far, DeJesus has been used in the leadoff spot and in the No. 2 hole, which should enable him to generate plenty of runs scored if he's able to hold down one of those spots. It's reasonable to think that DeJesus would have started more games during the weekend series if the Rays had not been on the road in Miami without the flexibility of the DH spot. DeJesus may see as many as five starts in the upcoming week, as the Rays will match up with a pair of AL East rivals.

DeJesus left Friday's spring training game after getting hit on the hand by a pitch, The Tampa Tribune's R. Mooney reports.

It was his second at-bat of the exhibition, so it was probably his last at-bat of the day anyway. There is no word on whether it is being labeled an actual injury, or if the team was just being cautious, so continue to monitor his status in the coming days.

In the midst of a solid campaign, the 34-year-old veteran originally hit the DL back on June 18 after putting up a .901 OPS over his previous 40 games. DeJesus will definitely be looking for a strong finish to 2014.

DeJesus (hand) went 1-for-2 while playing five innings at High-A Charlotte on Friday.

He's in the lineup for Charlotte again Friday, with the hope of being ready to return to the Rays within the next week.

DeJesus took batting practice Tuesday, after which he relayed that his hand felt "fine," Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports

On Wednesday, DeJesus is expected to begin a rehab assignment with High-A Charlotte. He believes that he'll be able to return to the Rays next week at some point, when he'd supply outfield depth.

DeJesus was originally scheduled to begin his rehab assignment on Saturday, but some mild soreness will push back this timetable. It doesn't appear to be a major setback, as the delay is only expected to last a couple days. He hasn't seen action for the Rays since June 18, but remains hopeful he'll see the field in the majors before the season is over.

A fractured left hand sent DeJesus to the shelf in mid-June, but he's finally on the verge of returning to game action. The plan is for DeJesus to play in just two games in the GCL before advancing to the club's High-A affiliate in Charlotte. Barring a setback, he could return to the major league team by late next week.

He'll be in a cast for three weeks and will presumably be on the shelf into August. It's another tough blow for the Rays, who entered play Thursday with a record of 28-45. They are 13 games back in the American League East standings.

DeJesus also scored a run in the ballgame. The huge effort raises his season slash to .265/.365/.470 to go along with three homers and 11 RBI. While he's hitting atop the Rays lineup, he's worth a look as a fourth or fifth outfielder in deeper mixed leagues.

DeJesus's homer barely made it over the low wall down the right-field line at Fenway; it would have been a double in any other park. Still, it was quite a nice day at the plate for him. He came in with a .190 average and one homer in 63 at-bats for the month of April.

DeJesus didn't have a hit in his previous 21 at-bats before Tuesday's outburst. He had an RBI single in the first inning before delivering a two-run single in the third. It was his first multi-hit game since April 6, and the runs batted in were his first of the year as he's started slow out of the gate.

With the DH not in play in Cincinnati, the Rays are going with Matt Joyce in left field. DeJesus will probably be back in there Saturday.

David DeJesus went 2-for-5 with a double in Sunday's loss to the Rangers.

Rays hitters struggled to get anything going against Rangers starter Yu Darvish, but DeJesus managed two of the seven hits off the right-hander. That included a double that put runners at second and third with one out, but Darvish took care of Wil Myers and Evan Longoria to end the threat. DeJesus is the Rays' primary leadoff hitter and has value in AL-only leagues.
