NEW YORK -- New York Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury exited Wednesday's game against the Kansas City Royals with a concussion and a sprained neck after crashing into the wall in the top of the first inning.Ellsbury tracked down a fly ball by Alcides Escobar and hit the wall while making the catch. The right side of Ellsbury's face hit the wall as he fell down and stayed down for a minute or two.Yankees trainer Steve Donahue and manager Joe Girardi went to check on him and Ellsbury initially stayed in the game. He was replaced by Aaron Hicks after the bottom of the first.After the game the Yankees announced Ellbury will be placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list.Ellsbury is batting .281 with four home runs and 14 RBIs. On May 1, he crashed into the wall while making a catch on Toronto infielder Ryan Goins and was held out of the starting lineup for three games with a bruised nerve in his left elbow. |
