Before the game, manager Andy Green said Pirela is "doing better, took some swings in the cage today. Still for me, I want to see him take (batting practice) on the field before I put him in the lineup. Hopefully, it's tomorrow, but hands for hitters, you never really know until they're good to go." Asked after the game how Pirela did in the indoor batting cage, Green said, "He felt decent. I don't think he feels great at this point in time. We'll evaluate him tomorrow and see if he's available for us. We want to get him back out there when we can."

OF Jose Pirela was out of the lineup for a second straight day with a sprained left finger. Andy Green said Pirela was feeling better, and the manager was optimistic Pirela would be able to return to the lineup Friday in Colorado.
