Mon Mar 21 201118:24Giants demote/reassign seven on Monday
Giants optioned 2B Emmanuel Burriss and OF Darren Ford to Triple-A Fresno; reassigned 1B Brad Eldred, C Jackson Williams, RHPs Shane Loux, Casey Daigle and Felix Romero to minor league camp.
Burriss received just five major league at-bats last season after getting 442 combined the previous two years. Ford, meanwhile, never had much of a chance to crack a Giants outfield that is already overloaded with veterans. Daigle threw 10 1/3 innings last season after being out of the majors since 2006, but was highly ineffective, and is likely at the end of the road.

Sun Nov 28 201008:45Burriss an option at SS for Giants?
An NL scout told the Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo that Emmanuel Burriss, who is coming off a pair of foot fractures, looks healthy and is one of the better players in the Dominican winter league.
"He was moving well, stealing bases, and making all the plays,'' said the scout. The scout must have only been watching Burriss in the field, because he's hitting a paltry .244/.262/.256 at the plate. The Giants are looking for someone to play shortstop, and Burriss might be the best internal option at the moment, but we expect them to bring back Juan Uribe or find someone outside of the organization.

Fri Sep 10 201009:15Burris to play in D.R. this winter
Emmanuel Burriss plans to play for Gigantes del Cibao in the Dominican Republic this winter.
"I feel like I basically lost a whole year," said Burriss, who missed large parts of the past two seasons with fractures in his left foot. "I want to try to get some of the at-bats that I missed." Burris got off to a late start this season after having a screw inserted into into his left foot in March, but returned to bat .282/.334/.337 with 11 doubles, two triples, 22 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 273 at-bats with Triple-A Fresno. He is 2-for-4 in three games with the Giants this season.

Mon Aug 9 201019:02Giants call up IF Burriss
Giants recalled 2B Emmanuel Burriss from Triple-A Fresno.
Burriss will provide some speed off the bench, but the incumbent yet struggling Freddy Sanchez has enough of a track record that he probably won't lose the starting second base spot to the youngster in the middle of a pennant race. Burriss has been playing well in the minor leagues - hitting .295 with six steals - but also has his flaws, as he was caught five times and has no power to speak of.
Mon Aug 9 201008:36Giants likely to promote Burriss on Monday
The Giants are expected to promote infielder Emmanuel Burriss from Triple-A Fresno before Monday night's game.
Freddy Sanchez has not hit well in the last month and Burriss will give the Giants some much-needed speed off the bench. The 25-year-old Burriss is batting .295 with nine extra-base hits and six steals in 45 games at Triple-A. He'll see time at second base but is not going to be a fantasy option.

Sun Jun 27 201010:37Burriss activated from DL; sent to Triple-A
Giants activated INF Emmanuel Burriss from the 60-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Fresno.
Burris, who missed the start of the season due to surgery on his left foot, is batting .270/.308/.378 with four RBI, two stolen bases and six runs scored in 11 games with the Bees. There's a good chance he'll be with the big club at some point this summer, but he's better off with regular playing time in the minors right now.
Mon Jun 21 201012:45Burriss to remain at AAA for a long while
Emmanuel Burriss (foot) is expected to remain at Triple-A Fresno for at least another week, if not more.
Burris is basically back to full health, but he's blocked at the big league level by a crowded Giants infield. "I don't want him sitting too long," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday. "I thought he was off to a good start before he got hurt. It's a tough situation. I told him it's not a case of his play, as much as the way Juan has played."
