Tue Aug 1 202319:28Justin Turner Out With Injury Tuesday
Boston Red Sox third baseman Justin Turner (heel) is not in Tuesday's starting lineup against the Seattle Mariners and rookie right-hander Bryce Miller. Masataka Yoshida is serving as the designated hitter and batting third, while Jarren Duran starts in left field and bats leadoff against Miller. Turner left Monday's game early with a left-heel contusion, so it shouldn't be a huge surprise that he's not playing on Tuesday. The 38-year-old should be considered day-to-day this week. Despite being almost 40, Turner continues to produce for fantasy managers in all league sizes. He's been a must-start while slashing .286/.356/.481 with an .837 OPS, 17 long balls, 71 RBI, four stolen bases and 66 runs scored in 391 at-bats. Hopefully, he'll be back in there on Wednesday.

Tue Aug 1 202312:00Justin Turner Day-To-Day With Heel Contusion
Boston Red Sox third baseman/designated hitter Justin Turner (heel) is being considered day-to-day with a left-heel contusion after leaving Monday night's game early against the Seattle Mariners. Turner injured himself while trying to beat out an infield single in the ninth inning on Monday night and had to be removed. Fantasy managers should expect the 38-year-old to rest for at least a day on Tuesday, if not more. Despite his advanced age, Turner has been solid and an RBI machine in his first year in Boston. He's currently hitting .286/.356/.481 with an .837 OPS, 17 home runs, 25 doubles, 71 RBI, four stolen bases and 66 runs scored in 102 games. He was excellent in July, going 30-for-89 (.337) with five homers, eight doubles, 28 RBI and 18 runs scored in 23 games.

Tue Aug 1 202300:45Justin Turner Exits Early Monday
Boston Red Sox second/third baseman Justin Turner (unknown) exited Monday's 6-2 loss to the Mariners in the ninth inning after legging out an RBI infield single, per NESN's Tom Caron. Turner, who was designated hitting, went 1-for-4 with an RBI, a walk, and two strikeouts. The 38-year-old has been a great fantasy asset this season, slashing .286/.356/.481 with 17 home runs and 71 RBI. Fantasy managers should know more by tomorrow but should keep an eye out for more news. Hopefully, he can avoid a serious injury.

Fri Jul 21 202315:06Justin Turner Shifts To Second Base
Boston Red Sox infielder Justin Turner normally serves as the designated hitter, but will actually get to play the field on Friday. The 38-year-old will cover second base for the seventh time this season. He's also started at third base seven starts this season, but usually serves as the DH. The fact he's moving around to second base this often might give him that eligibility in fantasy leagues. Enrique Hernandez will head to the bench with Turner covering second base versus Kodai Senga on Friday.

Fri Jul 14 202317:52Justin Turner Starting At Second Base
Boston Red Sox third baseman/designated hitter Justin Turner is getting the starting nod at second base on Friday against Chicago Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks to kick off the second half of the season. He's hitting third in the batting order. Turner will make his first start at the keystone since 2015 as the Red Sox look for more offense entering the second half of the season. The 38-year-old veteran slugger is probably unlikely to gain second-base eligibility for fantasy managers, however. Turner is still a solid source of batting average (.288) and on-base percentage (.362) and can still provide decent power numbers (13 homers and 52 RBI) in his first year in Beantown. With Turner at second, Masataka Yoshida will serve as Boston's designated hitter on Friday.

Wed Jul 5 202321:30Justin Turner Could Play Second Base In The Coming Days
Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that infielder/designated hitter Justin Turner could be seen at second base in the coming days so that the team can maximize their offense. Christian Arroyo has been seeing most of the starts at the keystone for the BoSox, but he's hitting just .242 (36-for-149) with three homers, 18 RBI and a stolen base on the year. Turner, on the other hand, is slashing .279/.352/.460 with an .812 OPS, 13 homers, 47 RBI and four stolen bases. The 38-year-old veteran has appeared at second base in Boston only four times in 2023, but his last start there came in September of 2015. Fantasy managers shouldn't count on Turner gaining second-base eligibility for the second half of this year.

Thu Jun 22 202300:02Justin Turner Grabs Two Hits Wednesday
Boston Red Sox designated hitter Justin Turner went 2-for-4 at the plate on Wednesday against the Twins. Turner also collected two RBI, drew a walk and swiped a bag in the game. One of his two hits was a solo home run he smacked in the third frame off Minnesota's Sonny Gray. Despite being 38 years old, Turner is slashing .284/.364/.465. He's cracked 11 home runs and 40 RBI while collecting four stolen bases in 308 plate appearances during the 2023 campaign.

Mon Jun 19 202316:55Justin Turner Resting On Monday
Boston Red Sox designated hitter Justin Turner is out of the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Minnesota Twins. Fantasy managers don't need to be concerned as this appears to be a routine rest day for the veteran infielder. Masataka Yoshida will function as the designated hitter, while Triston Casas covers first base versus right-hander Pablo Lopez on Monday. Fantasy managers should expect Turner to be back in the lineup after this game.

Boston Red Sox designated hitter Justin Turner cracked two homers and knocked in six RBI in a 15-5 win over the Yankees on Friday. Turner tied a career-high in RBI during a game and now has 15 multihomer contests. He's been on fire, recording at least one RBI in five consecutive contests, and he has slugged one or more hits in the past seven. In the last 15 games, the 38-year-old has posted a .328 batting average, hit four home runs, and logged 15 RBI in 61 plate appearances.

Mon May 22 202319:14Justin Turner Back In Action Against Angels
Boston Red Sox third baseman Justin Turner (knee) is back in the starting lineup on Monday against the Los Angeles Angels and right-hander Jaime Barria, serving as the designated hitter and batting third in the lineup. Turner had missed the last two games over the weekend after leaving Friday's game against the San Diego Padres with left-knee soreness. It wasn't a serious injury for the 38-year-old veteran, though, and fantasy managers will have him available again to begin a new week. Turner continues to make plenty of contact and get on base, as he's slashing .279/.370/.424 with nine doubles, five home runs, 18 RBI, two stolen bases and 28 runs scored in 45 games in his first year in Beantown. Get him back into your fantasy lineups.

Sun May 21 202313:15Justin Turner Out Again On Sunday
Boston Red Sox third baseman/designated hitter Justin Turner (knee) is out once again for Sunday's series finale against the San Diego Padres. The veteran third baseman will miss his second straight game after he exited Friday's contest early with left knee soreness. The Red Sox are hoping a few days off will remedy the issue so he can avoid a stint on the injured list. Masatka Yoshida is filling in as the team's designated hitter on Sunday against Michael Wacha and the Friars.

Sat May 20 202309:04Justin Turner Exits Friday, Unlikely To Play Saturday
Boston Red Sox designated hitter/third baseman Justin Turner (knee) left Friday's tilt with the San Diego Padres early after experiencing left knee soreness. Red Sox skipper Alex Cora said following the game that Turner will "probably" be out of the lineup on Saturday and that he hopes the 38-year-old returns on Sunday. It's a tough break for Turner, who was heating up in May while slashing .318/.385/.544 with three homers and nine RBI in the month. Fantasy managers should monitor this situation throughout the course of the weekend.

Wed May 17 202303:24Justin Turner Smacks Fourth Homer Of The Season
Boston Red Sox designated hitter/third baseman Justin Turner went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in a triumph over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday. The 38-year-old carries on a very workmanlike season as Boston's everyday three-hole hitter. He hasn't run particularly hot any at point this year, but Turner hasn't witnessed his on-base percentage dip below .326 at all. The two-time all-star's propensity for simply getting aboard prevents him from being rostered in more 5x5 roto leagues, but he's still slashing a fairly staunch .269/.365/.400 with 16 RBI and two swipes on the campaign. Turner should remain a staple of the top-five Red Sox offense in terms of runs produced.

Sun Apr 16 202317:14Justin Turner Goes Yard On Sunday
Boston Red Sox first baseman Justin Turner had a solid outing in Sunday's win over the Angels. The 38-year-old went 2-for-4 with two hits, two RBI, and a home run, smashing a 386-foot shot to left field to put Boston up for good. Turner now has nine hits in the last six games. However, he'll need to consistently produce in other areas to earn a spot on more fantasy rosters.

Sat Mar 25 202311:34Justin Turner Has Big Game Friday
Boston Red Sox third baseman/designated hitter Justin Turner looked to be in midseason form in the team's Grapefruit League game on Friday against the Atlanta Braves, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, a run scored and a strikeout in the 9-8 win. Turner missed some time this spring after being hit in the face by a pitch and requiring 16 stitches, but he returned to the field earlier this week and will be ready on Opening Day next Thursday, March 30. The 38-year-old veteran right-handed slugger is now hitting .368 (7-for-19) with a homer, three RBI, six runs and a stolen base in nine games played. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect Turner's power to suddenly rebound in 2023, and injuries could be a problem, but he still makes for a useful corner infielder with great on-base skills and plate discipline.

Mon Mar 20 202311:59Justin Turner Back In Spring Lineup Monday
Boston Red Sox third baseman/designated hitter Justin Turner (face) has returned to the team's Grapefruit League lineup on Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates and right-hander Luis Ortiz. Turner is serving as the designated hitter and is batting third in the lineup. The 38-year-old required 16 stitches after being hit in the face by a pitch on March 6 and will be back in a game setting for the first time since then. Although he missed some valuable at-bats while healing, he has plenty of time to get his timing down between now and Opening Day at the end of this month. Between DH duties and occasionally filling in at the corner infield spots, Turner should be an everyday player in his first year in Beantown in 2023. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect a ton of power after he showed a sharp decline last year, but he still has excellent plate discipline.

Fri Mar 17 202312:12Justin Turner Could Return To Game Action Monday
Boston Red Sox third baseman/designated hitter Justin Turner (face) is hitting on the field on Friday and could play in a Grapefruit League game on Monday if all goes well with his hitting session. Turner required 16 stitches after getting hit by a pitch in the face early last week in a spring game, but he's progressed ahead of schedule and should be ready for Opening Day in late March at this point. The 38-year-old veteran will be an everyday player in 2023 in his first year in Boston between regular designated hitter duties and occasional starts at both third and first base. His peak power days at the plate are likely over, but Turner can still provide modest counting stats at Fenway Park while getting on base at a useful clip.

Wed Mar 15 202312:20Justin Turner To Take Batting Practice Friday
Boston Red Sox third baseman/designated hitter Justin Turner (face) is scheduled to take batting practice on Friday. Turner is ahead of schedule while needing 16 stitches after taking a pitch to the face in spring action early last week, and he could be cleared to return to Grapefruit League games if all goes well with his hitting session on Friday. The 38-year-old should open the 2023 regular season as Boston's primary designated hitter while also filling in at first and third base. Turner is no longer in his prime, but he still has excellent plate discipline and can provide modest counting stats for fantasy managers in a corner infield or DH spot in deep mixed leagues.

Sun Mar 12 202312:22Justin Turner Could Resume Baseball Activities Monday
Boston Red Sox third baseman/designated hitter Justin Turner (face), who had his stitches removed this weekend, could resume baseball activities on Monday. Turner was hit in the face by a pitch in a Grapefruit League game last Monday and needed 16 stitches after being taken to a local hospital. He's been feeling good and is expected to serve as the BoSox's primary designated hitter while occasionally filling in at first base for Triston Casas and at third base for Rafael Devers. The 38-year-old joined the Red Sox on a one-year deal that guarantees him $15 million after nine strong seasons with the Dodgers. Turner is no longer in his prime, but when healthy, he can still be a decent source for on-base percentage and counting stats.

Sat Mar 11 202310:24Justin Turner Could Take Batting Practice Sunday
Boston Red Sox third baseman/designated hitter Justin Turner (face) is making big improvements and could take batting practice on Sunday while also getting his stitches removed. Turner was hit in the face by a pitch in a Grapefruit League game earlier this week, and he wasn't expected to have his stitches removed for another couple of weeks. If he can resume swinging a bat on Sunday, it would be great news for his chances of avoiding a trip to the injured list to begin his first season in Beantown. The 38-year-old still has excellent plate discipline and can contribute decent counting stats, but he's an injury risk for fantasy managers and also saw a steep drop in his power numbers in 2022 in his final season with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
