Tue Aug 26 201417:39Dominguez isn't in lineup Tuesday against Athletics
Dominguez isn't in the lineup Tuesday against the Athletics, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Dominguez last tallied a hit on Aug. 20, a span of 13 at-bats, which has pushed his slash line to a miserable .223/.262/.344 on the season. He'll hand over the hot corner to Gregorio Petit, who is batting ninth.
Sat Aug 23 201415:56Dominguez not in lineup Saturday
Dominguez is not in the lineup Saturday, the Houston Chronicle's Jose de Jesus Ortiz reports.
Gregorio Petit will get a rare start at the hot corner, as Dominguez is given a standard day off. He is one of several Astros (other than Chris Carter and Jose Altuve) who have not lived up to the starting role they've been given this season, and his long-term future with the team is probably still up in the air. His .226/.266/.349 slash line makes him unusable in standard leagues that count batting average or OBP.
Sat Aug 16 201416:40Dominguez out of lineup Saturday at Boston
Dominguez is out of the lineup Saturday at Boston, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
The Astros are holding Dominguez out for the first time since May 23, which allows Gregorio Petit to cover the hot corner. Dominguez has continued to scuffle along at the plate in August, slashing .214/.237/.304 with one homer, five RBI, and three runs in 56 at-bats.

Dominguez went 2-for-4 with his 14th home run of the season in Thursday's loss to the Red Sox.
Dominguez's two-run shot came in the fourth inning off Allen Webster. It was his first home run since July 28.
Mon Aug 4 201411:23Dominguez 2-3 with double, two RBI and run scored during Sunday'...
Dominguez went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored during Sunday's win over Toronto.
Dominguez's strikeout rate has increased from 16.3 in 2013 to a career-worst 19.8 percent this season, but he has made improvements in other areas. His batting average against lefties (.277) and a slightly improved walk rate (5.3 percent) are certainly worth mentioning as the soon-to-be 25-year-old closes the gap on his second full season in the big leagues.
Sun Jul 20 201417:57Dominguez knocks in four in an Astros win
Matt Dominguez drove in four runs and finished 3-for-5 as the Astros defeated the White Sox on Sunday.
Dominguez entered the contest having driven in only two runs in his previous 18 contests. He singled in a run in the third inning, belted a two-run home run in the fifth, and doubled in a run in the seventh. Quite the productive day for the third baseman, who has otherwise had a forgettable season. Dominguez is slashing .239/.286/.375 with 12 home runs and 43 RBI.

Sat Jun 14 201420:25Dominguez drives in three, Astros beat Rays
Matt Dominguez finished 2-for-4 with three RBI to lead the Astros past the Rays 7-3 on Saturday.
Dominguez was buried in a slump heading into the afternoon game and snapped out of it in a big way, singling in the second inning and smacking a three-run double with the bases loaded in the third. He's still batting just .246/.299/.395 on the season, but the 24-year-old third baseman can boast nine home runs and 30 RBI.

Sun May 18 201418:38Matt Dominguez homers twice for Astros
Matt Dominguez hit a pair of two-run homers off John Danks as part of the Astros' 8-2 win over the White Sox on Sunday.
Dominguez, who drove in 77 runs last season, entered today's game with just 14 RBI in 42 games. Obviously, this one helps his pace a bit. He's a zero in steals and below average in batting average and runs scored, so he has to keep showing power to be an adequate fantasy third baseman.

Sat Apr 12 201400:23Matt Dominguez has two hits in losing effort
Matt Dominguez was the Astros entire offense in Friday's loss to the Rangers, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles.
Those two singles, including one to break up Yu Darvish's perfect game in the sixth inning, were the only hits that the Astros would muster in 12 innings against Rangers pitching. Even with the two knocks, Dominguez is hitting a meager .171/.250/.400 on the season.

Dominguez homered off of David Phelps in the seventh inning, extending the Astros' lead to 3-1. The third baseman hit 21 home runs last season, but was otherwise unimpressive, finishing with a .241/.286/.403 slash line in 589 trips to the plate.

Thu Mar 20 201411:57Astros, Dominguez nearing five-year extension
According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports, the Astros are closing in on a five-year contract extension with 24-year-old third baseman Matt Dominguez.
Passan says the deal will carry around $17 million in guaranteed money and also includes two club options worth between $8-10 million apiece. Dominguez is a highly-rated defender at third base and tallied 21 home runs and 77 RBI in 152 games last year, but he owns an underwhelming .248 career batting average and .700 career OPS. It's a somewhat risky move for a low-payroll club like Houston.

Matt Dominguez left Thursday's game against the Indians after being hit on the left hand by a pitch.
Dominguez was in a ton of pain and had to be removed for a pinch-runner. The Astros will surely send him for X-rays before we know more about his status.

Fri Sep 13 201323:51Dominguez connects for grand slam in win
Matt Dominguez blasted a grand slam in Friday's 9-7 win over the Angels.
Trevor Crowe put the Astros ahead with an RBI single in the fifth inning, but Dominguez's blast off Cory Rasmus proved to be the difference in the ballgame. The 24-year-old is hitting just .243 with a .285 on-base percentage this season, but his 20 homers and 74 RBI have been quite useful in deeper fantasy formats.

Matt Dominguez has sat out the last three games due to a sinus infection.
"They gave me some medicine and I feel a lot better," Dominguez said. "I didn't really know what it was. I had never had one before. I got very light-headed and dizzy for no reason. When I looked around I had a lot of pressure in my head." Dominguez is hoping to play on Friday.
