Fri Jun 16 202300:10Anthony Rendon Going For Imaging After Being Hit On Wrist
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon (wrist) was hit by a pitch on his wrist in the first inning of Thursday's game against the Texas Rangers and is getting X-rays to determine the severity of the injury. Rendon had to stay in the game because the Angels are shorthanded in the infield and didn't have anyone else who could play third after Gio Urshela (hip) was pulled from the game with an injury of his own. Rendon hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire anyways, slashing .074/.167/.148 in June with no homers or steals. He doesn't need to be rostered outside of AL-only leagues, especially if his injury causes him to miss time.

Sun Jun 11 202313:37Anthony Rendon Getting A Scheduled Day Off On Sunday
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon is getting the day off for Sunday's series finale against the Seattle Mariners. This is a scheduled day off for the third baseman. Rendon has been a contributor in both batting average and on-base percentage so far this season with a .276/.393/.345 batting line. He only has one home run but has driven in 20 runs and swiped two bags across 116 at-bats. Luis Rengifo is starting at third base in his absence and batting seventh against Seattle starter Logan Gilbert.

Tue Jun 6 202319:09Anthony Rendon Activated From Injured List
The Los Angeles Angels activated third baseman Anthony Rendon (groin) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned infielder Livan Soto to Double-A Rocket City in a corresponding move. Rendon has been out since May 15 due to a left-groin strain, but he's now back with the Halos and should be back at third base on Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs and right-hander Hayden Wesneski. The 33-year-old didn't go on a minor-league rehab assignment, so he could be a little slow to get going again offensively. Although he had just one home run in 103 at-bats before his injury, Rendon had been playing better so far in 2023, hitting .301 (31-for-103) with four doubles, 20 RBI and two stolen bases. Fantasy managers should get him back into their lineups.

Sun Jun 4 202314:20Anthony Rendon Likely To Return This Week
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon (groin) appears to be on the precipice of returning to the lineup. The 32-year-old was last in there on May 13, but patient fantasy managers should expect to get Rendon back from a groin injury by the middle of Week 11, either on Tuesday or Wednesday, per manager Phil Nevin. The former Washington Nationals standout was on a heater in 16 games before the setback, hitting .368 (21-for-57) with a .953 OPS and 11 RBI over this period. Upon his return, Rendon should slot right back into Anaheim's heart of the order. That gives the two-time Silver Slugger some serious RBI potential with Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout in front of him.

Thu Jun 1 202309:52Anthony Rendon Likely Back For Next Homestand
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon (groin) will likely come off the injured list for the club's next homestand, which will begin on Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs. The former MVP candidate has been on the IL since the middle of May after suffering a groin strain during a game on May 13. Before going down, Rendon was hitting .301 with 19 runs, 20 RBI, and two stolen bases, but with just one long ball over 30 games. It looks like the 25 home run power isn't there anymore, but the 32-year-old can still provide decent production in the batting average and counting stats departments.

Mon May 29 202321:09Anthony Rendon Does Some Infield Work Monday
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon (groin) took some grounders on the field on Monday ahead of his team's game against the Chicago White Sox. Rendon has been on the injured list since the middle of May but he is slowly ramping up baseball activities as he works his way back to the field. The veteran infielder is reportedly being evaluated on a daily basis as the Angels look to get him back into the fold. Rendon is hitting .301 with a homer, 20 RBI, 19 runs, and two steals across 130 at-bats in 2023.

Thu May 25 202309:48Anthony Rendon Unlikely To Go On A Rehab Assignment
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon (groin) started agility drills and swinging a bat indoors on Wednesday, according to MLB.com. He seems to be on the right track, and manager Phil Nevin told reporters that the 32-year-old will likely avoid a rehab assignment and he should be ready to come off the injured list in late May. Rendon's provided mixed production with the bat this season, hitting .301 but with just a single homer, 19 runs, 20 RBI, and a pair of steals over 30 games. In the meantime, Gio Urshela will keep getting the reps at the hot corner. The 31-year-old has some deep-league value with his .299 average but has shown little power with just one homer and hits near the bottom of the order.

Thu May 18 202309:55Angels Receive Good News After Anthony Rendon's MRI
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon (groin) underwent an MRI for his left groin strain that forced the club to place him on the 10-day injured list on Monday. Manager Phil Nevin told reporters on Wednesday that they got "good results" and that it shouldn't be a long-term injury. Before going on the shelf, Rendon was slashing .301/.415/.369 with one homer, 19 runs, 20 RBI, and two steals over 30 games. While the 32-year-old is out, fantasy managers can expect to continue to see Gio Urshela at the hot corner. The infielder is hitting .295 this season with one bomb, 17 runs, 17 RBI, and a single stolen base across 40 games. Urshela only has value in deep and AL-only leagues, so managers in standard formats can look elsewhere for a third baseman.

Mon May 15 202317:08Angels Officially Put Anthony Rendon On Injured List
The Los Angeles Angels officially placed third baseman Anthony Rendon (groin) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to May 14) on Monday with a left-groin strain. In corresponding moves, they recalled infielder Livan Soto from Double-A Rocket City, reinstated catcher Chad Wallach (concussion) from the injured list and optioned catcher Chris Okey to Triple-A Salt Lake. Rendon can make his return on May 24, but it remains to be seen if the 32-year-old will be ready by then. After a disappointing 2022 campaign marked by injury, Rendon has so far bounced back, hitting .301 (31-for-103) with four doubles, a home run, 20 RBI and two stolen bases in 30 games played. Keep him stashed in an injured-list spot. Gio Urshela should be a lineup regular at third base for the Halos while Rendon is sidelined.

Mon May 15 202314:59Anthony Rendon Likely To Go On Injured List
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon (groin) is likely to go on the 10-day injured list after missing the last two days with left groin tightness. The Angels are recalling infielder Livan Soto from Double-A Rocket City on Monday. In Double-A and Triple-A this year, Soto is hitting .170 with a .560 OPS, so he's unlikely to be anything more than infield depth for the Angels in the short term with Rendon hurt. For however long the 32-year-old is out, Gio Urshela is expected to see most of the playing time at the hot corner for the Halos. Rendon should be stashed in all fantasy formats, as he's hitting a robust .301 (31-for-103) so far this year with four doubles, a home run, 20 RBI, two stolen bases and 19 runs scored in 30 games played.

Sun May 14 202310:04Anthony Rendon Officially Out Of Sunday’s Lineup
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon (groin) is not in the lineup on Sunday for the rubber match of the series with the Cleveland Guardians. The 32-year-old came out of Saturday's game with left groin tightness and the ailment will cost him at least this one game. Fantasy managers will have to hope the oft-injured Rendon can avoid a stint on the injured list and he should be considered day-to-day for now. It's a tough time to be hobbled for the plate-protecting veteran, who was in the midst of strong 16-game span with an excellent .368 average, .479 on-base percentage, and 11 RBI. Look for an update on Rendon's status ahead of Monday's game against the Baltimore Orioles.

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon is not in the lineup on Sunday against the Kansas City Royals. The veteran third baseman has been dealing with a shoulder issue but he's started the last four contests so this looks to just be a maintenance day for him. Rendon is off to a sluggish start on the year, slashing .217/.339/.239 with nine RBI over 46 at-bats. Gio Urshela is starting at third base and batting sixth against Jordan Lyles.

Tue Apr 11 202300:18Anthony Rendon Out Monday With Left Shoulder Soreness
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon (shoulder) was a late scratch on Monday against the Nationals, as the Angels announced that he was dealing with left shoulder soreness. Rendon was hit by a Jordan Romano fastball in the ninth inning of Sunday's 12-11 loss to the Blue Jays. Hopefully, this will simply be a day-to-day situation for the veteran, who has dealt with a number of issues over the past several seasons. He has gotten off to a slow start this season, slashing .231/.353/.231 in 17 plate appearances while also serving a four-game suspension.

Sat Apr 8 202318:06Anthony Rendon Returns From Suspension Saturday
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon (suspension) is in the lineup Saturday. Rendon's initial five-game suspension was reduced to four games. Rendon will bat cleanup and play third base for the Angels Saturday. He has yet to collect a hit this season and between his health and ineffectiveness the last few years, it's hard for fantasy managers to trust him right now.

Mon Apr 3 202321:25Anthony Rendon's Suspension Reduced To Four Games
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon had his initial five-game suspension reduced to four games on Monday evening. Rendon was involved in an incident with a fan in the stands during Thursday's game against the Oakland A's. He apologized publicly and apparently spoke with the fan on the phone to apologize to him, as well. MLB moved quickly on this one as the five-game suspension had been announced earlier on Monday evening. Rendon will begin serving the suspension on Monday. Look for Gio Urshela to see the bulk of Rendon's playing time during the suspension.

Mon Apr 3 202318:10Anthony Rendon Suspended Five Games
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon has been suspended five games by Major League Baseball following an interaction with a fan after an Opening Day loss versus the Oakland A's. Video footage showed Rendon grabbing the shirt of a fan as the Angels departed the playing field before attempting to strike the fan with an open hand. The former Nationals star missed Sunday's matchup with the A's due to a knee injury as he continues to battle health problems during his Angels tenure. The 32-year-old has appeared in just 105 games over the last two seasons due to a myriad of injuries while he hit just .229 with five home runs and a .706 OPS across 47 contests last season. If he does not appeal the suspension, Rendon will be eligible to return on Sunday against the Blue Jays in Toronto.

Sun Apr 2 202314:19Anthony Rendon Out Of Lineup Sunday
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon (knee) is out of the lineup Sunday. Rendon ran into the tarp Saturday and was receiving treatment after the game for it. However, Rendon said it was a planned day off and he would play if needed. Gio Urshela will slide to third base with David Fletcher filling in at shortstop. Rendon has had trouble staying healthy in recent seasons. He looked to be healthy coming into 2023 and hit well in Spring Training but is 0-for-6 to start the season with two strikeouts.

Sat Apr 1 202321:43Anthony Rendon Could Get Day Off Sunday
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon (knee) could miss Sunday's game against the A's after getting treatment on his left knee following Saturday's win over Oakland. The 32-year-old crashed into the tarp during Saturday's victory and was getting treatment on his left knee after the game. Rendon's knee issue is not considered severe. He went 0-for-3 with an RBI before being pulled from Saturday's game for precautionary reasons. Fantasy managers should check back on Sunday to see if Rendon is in the lineup before inserting him into their starting lineups. David Fletcher will start at third base if Rendon misses Sunday's contest and is mainly an option in AL-Only or deep-league formats.
