Thu Sep 14 202312:22Christian Yelich Still On The Bench
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich (back) remains sidelined on Thursday against the visiting Miami Marlins. Tyrone Taylor is making another start in left field and is batting eighth in the order against Marlins right-hander Eury Perez. Yelich is apparently improving and did some baseball activities this week, but he hasn't played since last Friday due to back stiffness, so if he cannot return this weekend against the Washington Nationals, he'll likely need to go on the injured list. Yelich has had a resurgent 2023 campaign, but he's hitting just .152 (7-for-46) with a home run, one double, three RBI, 20 strikeouts and nine runs scored in 13 games (12 starts) since Aug. 25.

Wed Sep 13 202316:22Christian Yelich Still Sitting Wednesday
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich (back) continues to sit on Wednesday against the visiting Miami Marlins. Tyrone Taylor is in left field and hitting sixth, Joey Wiemer is in center and batting in the nine-hole, and Sal Frelick is starting in right and batting eighth against Marlins left-hander Braxton Garrett. Yelich is apparently improving from back stiffness, but he hasn't played in a game since last Friday. Fantasy managers will want to check back to see if he's active for the series finale against Miami on Thursday. The two-time All-Star has had a resurgent year for the Brew Crew in 2023, hitting .274/.363/.435 with 17 home runs, 31 doubles, a triple, 70 RBI, 27 stolen bases and 97 runs scored in 136 games.

Tue Sep 12 202316:51Christian Yelich Still Out Against Marlins
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich (back) remains out of the starting lineup on Tuesday against the visiting Miami Marlins. Yelich will miss his fourth straight game while dealing with back stiffness, but fantasy managers should continue to consider him day-to-day for now. Sal Frelick is in center field and leading off, Mark Canha is in left field and batting cleanup, and Tyrone Taylor is in right field and hitting in the nine-hole against Marlins right-hander JT Chargois. The 31-year-old Yelich is having a fine 2023 season, slashing .274/.363/.435 with 17 home runs, 31 doubles, a triple, 70 RBI, 27 stolen bases and 97 runs scored in 597 plate appearances over 136 games. His back injury may be the reason why he's gone only 7-for-46 (.152) with a homer, a double, three RBI, 20 strikeouts and nine runs in 13 games (12 starts) since Aug. 25.

Sat Sep 9 202323:30Christian Yelich's Late Scratch Was Precautionary
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich (back) was a late scratch for Saturday's game against the New York Yankees. Brewers manager Craig Counsell said the decision to scratch Yelich from the lineup was precautionary. The 31-year-old has a history of back issues, and the Brewers know when to push through back stiffness or give him a few days off. He is considered day-to-day, and his next chance to return to the lineup is the series finale against the Yankees. Tyrone Taylor replaced Yelich in Saturday's game and went 2-for-4 with a home run and an additional run scored. Taylor would see an uptick in playing time if Yelich were to miss any more games.

Sun Sep 3 202313:07Christian Yelich Getting The Day Off On Sunday
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is not in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Philadelphia Phillies. Yelich hasn't had an off day since July 2 (51 straight games) and left-handed starter Ranger Suarez is on the bump for the Phillies so it makes sense to give the veteran outfielder a rest day. The 31-year-old is having a resurgent season for the Brewers, slashing .278/.366/.442 with 17 home runs, 69 RBI, and 27 steals over 577 plate appearances. Mark Canha is starting in left field while Tyrone Taylor is in right on Sunday.

Sun Sep 3 202312:39Christian Yelich Getting A Breather Against Southpaw
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is taking a seat on Sunday against Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez. With Yelich out, Mark Canha will make the start in left field and will bat leadoff against Suarez. Canha will be an interesting DFS play in the leadoff spot against a left-hander, against whom he's hit .252 (29-for-115) with four of his eight home runs this year. Yelich is having a great season for Milwaukee this year and is a must-start in all fantasy lineups when he's active, but he could use a break right now after going just 5-for-31 (.161) with a homer, two RBI, 13 strikeouts and seven runs scored in eight starts since Aug. 25. Overall, the 31-year-old left-handed hitter has a strong .278/.366/.442 slash line with an .807 OPS, 17 homers, 69 RBI, 27 stolen bases and 95 runs scored in 507 at-bats.

The 31-year-old is putting together his best season in some time, slashing .289/.377/.477 with 14 home runs, 55 RBI, and 22 stolen bases. After several seasons of mediocre output, fantasy managers can finally feel strongly about treating Yelich as a must-start fantasy player again.

Sun Jul 16 202318:40Christian Yelich Homers Again, Powers Sunday’s Win
Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Christian Yelich went yard for the second straight day, also going 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and a walk in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds. The 31-year-old got Milwaukee on the board with a solo jack in the third frame before plating another run on a fifth-inning single. Yelich then drew a free pass in the seventh frame before doubling in the ninth to cap off a big day at the plate. After a mystifying three-year drop-off, the former NL MVP looks every bit revived in 2023. Yelich is slashing a potent .286/.378/.472 with 13 long balls, 49 RBI, 21 stolen bases, and 69 runs scored across 389 trips to the dish this year.

The strong stretch has raised his season line to .287/.381/.459 in 314 at-bats. The 31-year-old left-handed hitter has added 11 home runs, 17 doubles, three triples, 45 RBI, 21 stolen bases and 65 runs scored in 84 total games in 2023. Sun Jul 2 202312:05Christian Yelich Sitting Against Left-Hander
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich will take a seat on the bench on Sunday with the team facing left-handed veteran Rich Hill and the Pittsburgh Pirates. In his absence, Blake Perkins will get the start in left field and hit fifth against Hill. Yelich is hitting .333 with an RBI in 15 career at-bats against Hill, but he's going to get a breather after starting in the team's last 40 games. The 31-year-old veteran left-handed hitter has been solid for fantasy managers in 2023, slashing .273/.370/.438 with an .808 OPS, 10 home runs, 17 doubles, a triple, 40 RBI, 18 stolen bases and 59 runs scored in 80 games played. Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich went 2-for-4 with two singles, a walk, and a strikeout in Monday's 2-1 win over the Mets. The 31-year-old is having a nice season offensively overall, slashing .273/.367/.432 with nine home runs, 32 RBI, and 17 stolen bases. It has been several seasons since Yelich has hit for both average and power, so fantasy managers should be pleased with his production to this point. Wed Jun 7 202312:26Christian Yelich Picks Up Three Hits In Winning Effort
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich was seeing the ball well on Tuesday night in the team's 4-3 extra-innings win over the visiting Baltimore Orioles, as he finished the game 3-for-4 with two doubles, two stolen bases, a run scored and a walk. It was the fourth time in 2023 that Yelich has recorded three hits in a contest. Fantasy managers would like to see more home runs from the 31-year-old left-handed hitter, but they also can't complain about his stat-stuffing performance on Tuesday. It's been nice to see Yelich running more this year, and he's now tied for seventh in MLB with his 16 stolen bases. Overall, he's hitting a solid .258 (55-for-213) with nine doubles, seven home runs, 25 RBI and 41 runs scored in 58 games. Yelich hasn't homered since May 14, but he has five doubles and seven steals since then.

Wed May 31 202310:51Christian Yelich Hitless In Tuesday's Loss
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich went 0-for-2 with two walks in the Brewers' 7-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night. Yelich missed multiple games due to back tightness last week, but he returned over the weekend. His power is up this season, as he's on pace to reach 20 home runs for the first time since 2019 if he can stay healthy. Staying healthy has been a challenge for Yelich since that 2019 season, but he played in 154 games last year. His average hasn't seen noticeable improvement, however, as he's hitting .251 entering play Wednesday after hitting .252 last year and .248 in 2021. Yelich continues to be a valuable source of stolen bases with 11 on the year. The power and speed carry his value in rotisserie formats, so long as he can stay on the field.

Tue May 16 202318:02Christian Yelich Absent On Tuesday
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich (back) is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Yelich was pulled out of the game as a precaution on Monday due to back tightness. It appears the team is giving him an extra rest day to fully recover on Tuesday. Owen Miller will cover left field and bat leadoff versus lefty Jordan Montgomery on Tuesday. Miller might be an interesting dart throw in DFS contests considering he's batting first here.

Tue May 16 202309:54Christian Yelich Dealing With Back Tightness
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich (back) was removed from Monday's 18-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals mid-game. According to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, manager Craig Counsel is being careful while the former MVP is experiencing back tightness, as the score was already 8-0 when he left. Fantasy managers need to keep their fingers crossed that he doesn't miss anytime, as Yelich has been on a tear recently and owns a .258/.341/.424 slash line with seven homers, 32 runs, 23 RBI, and nine stolen bases over 40 games. Stay tuned for more updates on the situation.

Thu May 4 202318:17Christian Yelich Homers, Goes 3-For-5
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich hit his fourth homer of the season on Thursday. Yelich has been struggling all season as he upped his average to .243 to start the year. His 27.2% strikeout rate is part of the reason for his struggles, but he hasn't been hitting the ball with the authority he had during his best years. Thursday was a rare productive day as he went 3-for-5 with the home run, two RBI, and two runs scored.

Tue Feb 21 202300:08Christian Yelich Went "Off The Grid" To Recharge For 2023
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich said that he "kind of just went off the grid" and "enjoyed the down time" of the off-season to help prepare for the 2023 season, per MLB.com's Adam McCalvy. The 31-year-old said he feels in a "better place" mentally and physically compared to the past couple of seasons. This is encouraging news for the Brewers and fantasy managers, as Yelich posted a disappointing .252/.355/.383 slash line with 14 home runs, 99 runs scored, 57 RBI, and 19 stolen bases in 2022. He dealt with back issues in 2021 which may have impacted his power drop in 2022, so being fully healthy can only help. Hopefully, he can return to the higher-end fantasy player he was before 2021 with a clean bill of health.

Mon Sep 5 202215:14Christian Yelich Returns Against Rockies
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich (neck) is back in left field and is hitting leadoff on Monday against the Colorado Rockies and right-hander Ryan Feltner. Yelich missed the last three games with neck soreness, but he'll return on Monday for the start of a series against the Rockies in hitter-friendly Coors Field. Fantasy managers will want to get the 30-year-old left-handed slugger back into their lineups, as Yelich has been very productive in his last 16 games, hitting .317 (19-for-60) with three home runs, 10 RBI and 12 runs scored. Overall, he's been a disappointment with his .259/.360/.387 slash line with 11 homers, 45 RBI, 83 runs scored and 16 stolen bases in 468 at-bats.

Sun Sep 4 202214:19Christian Yelich Absent From The Lineup On Sunday
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich (neck) is not in the lineup on Sunday vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks. Yelich has now missed three straight games after exiting Thursday's contest vs. the D-Backs early with neck discomfort. Milwaukee is hoping he can avoid the injured list but fantasy managers still need to consider him day-to-day. The 30-year-old outfielder is slashing .259/.360/.387 with 11 long balls, 45 RBI, and 16 thefts over 468 at-bats on the season. Rookie Esteury Ruiz is batting ninth and starting in left field against Zac Gallen and the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Fri Sep 2 202214:01Christian Yelich Day-To-Day With Neck Issue
Milwaukee Brewers skipper Craig Counsell said that outfielder Christian Yelich (neck) is day-to-day after leaving the game early on Thursday against the Arizona Diamondbacks with neck discomfort. "He just irritated his neck on one of the swings in that second at-bat. We're day-to-day. I think there's a chance he misses a couple of days but I wouldn't worry about it past that," Counsell said. Fantasy managers should prepare to be without Yelich for a few days, but it doesn't appear to be a long-term issue. Yelich went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before departing and is now hitting .259/.360/.387 on the season with 11 home runs, 45 RBI, 83 runs scored and 16 stolen bases. He finished the month of August hitting .255 (26-for-102) with three homers, 10 RBI, 18 runs scored and two stolen bases.
