Quentin received complete no-trade protection on the three-year, $27 million contract extension that he signed with the Padres in July 2012, allowing him to block a move to any team. But the Friars are buried in the National League West standings with a record of 30-42 and Quentin is believed to be open to joining a contender before the July 31 deadline.
