Cowgill is sporting a .356/.396 /.533 batting line with six doubles in 45 at-bats this spring.

There was some talk coming into camp that Matt Joyce would man left field full-time in the absence of Josh Hamilton (shoulder), but Cowgill's strong performance, combined with the fact that Joyce has missed time due to a shoulder injury, could result in the 28-year-old seeing time as the right-handed half of a platoon to begin the season.
