Mon Sep 5 202219:09Sonny Gray's Next Start Pushed To Thursday
The Minnesota Twins are moving right-hander Sonny Gray's (hamstring) next start to Thursday against the New York Yankees. His bullpen session will also be pushed back a day to Tuesday, but he'll get on the field on Monday to see how he's feeling. Gray left his last outing early on Friday against the Chicago White Sox due to right hamstring tightness, but it's not a serious injury and won't cause him to go on the injured list. It won't be an ideal matchup on Thursday against the Yankees, but the 32-year-old has very good for fantasy managers this year with a 7-4 record, 3.10 ERA (3.42 FIP), a 1.13 WHIP, 101 strikeouts and 33 walks in 104 2/3 innings over 21 starts in his first year in Minnesota.

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Sonny Gray (hamstring) left his start early on Friday against the Chicago White Sox with right hamstring tightness. Before exiting, Gray allowed two earned runs on five hits while walking one and striking out two in four innings. It remains to be seen if he'll be able to make his next scheduled start next Wednesday against the New York Yankees in the Bronx. Stay tuned for more updates on the 32-year-old right-hander either after the game or Saturday morning. Coming into the day, Gray had a 7-4 record, 3.04 ERA (3.42 FIP), a 1.11 WHIP and a 99:32 K:BB in 100 2/3 innings over 20 starts for the Twins. He's been useful in all fantasy leagues in 2022.

Fri Jul 15 202200:30Sonny Gray Gives Up Six Runs In Loss
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Sonny Gray had a rough night on the mound on Thursday as the White Sox went on to rout his club 12-2. The right-hander allowed six runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out three over 3 2/3 IP in what marked his shortest outing since April 16. Gray promptly allowed a pair of runs to score in the first frame, but the big blow came in the fourth when Luis Robert tagged him for a grand slam. The loss dropped his record to 4-3 on the year to go along with a 3.71 ERA and 1.16 WHIP as we enter the All-Star break.

Sat Jul 2 202218:51Sonny Gray Walks Three Saturday
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Sonny Gray finished five innings of work in Saturday's 4-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. However, he didn't earn the win after allowing three runs on six hits and three walks. Gray's only bright spot was the five strikeouts he recorded. The 32-year-old's having a successful first campaign in Minnesota, posting a 2.47 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 54 strikeouts and four wins over 54.2 IP. Fantasy managers should be happy with his bounce-back numbers thus far, but hopefully, Gray can get back to the 28.5% strikeout rate he owned from 2019-2021.

Thu Jun 16 202214:25Sonny Gray Sharp In Return
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Sonny Gray was sharp in his return from the injured list Wednesday, holding the Seattle Mariners to just three hits and no runs in five innings of work. Gray struck out three and did not walk a batter. He took a no-decision in the contest, but fantasy managers have to be encouraged that Gray seemingly did not miss a bit after considerable time on the injured list with a pectoral injury. For the season, Gray has a 2.09 ERA and 0.93 WHIP to his name with a 3-1 record and 42 strikeouts in 38 2/3 innings.

Tue Jun 14 202211:29Sonny Gray To Start Wednesday
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Sonny Gray (pectoral) will come off the injured list and start on Wednesday against the Seattle Mariners. Gray went on the injured list on June 2 with a right pectoral strain and didn't go on a minor league rehab assignment, so he could be a bit limited in his first start back. The 32-year-old threw a 30-pitch simulated game last Friday. Gray has been outstanding this year for fantasy managers, going 3-1 with a 2.41 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 39 strikeouts and 10 walks in 33 2/3 innings over his seven starts so far in 2022. The Twins rotation is getting both Gray and Joe Ryan, who was on the COVID injured list, back this week.

Thu Jun 9 202219:54Sonny Gray To Throw Extended Bullpen Friday
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Sonny Gray (pectoral) is expected to throw an extended bullpen session on Friday. Gray has been out since late May with a right pectoral strain, but he's slowly working his way back. Depending on how his bullpen session goes on Friday, Gray will likely start facing hitters next week and could go on a minor league rehab assignment before he returns to Minnesota's starting rotation. The 32-year-old right-hander needs to be rostered in all fantasy leagues, as he was sporting an excellent 2.41 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 39 strikeouts and only 10 walks in 33 2/3 innings over his seven starts before landing on the injured list.

Thu Jun 2 202213:33Sonny Gray Placed On Injured List
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Sonny Gray (pectoral) has been moved to the 15-day injured list with a right pectoral strain. The placement has been backdated to Monday, making the right-hander eligible to return on June 14th, when the Twins are set to face the Seattle Mariners. Right-handed pitcher Yennier Cano was recalled to take Gray's spot on the roster. Gray has started seven games this season, recording a 2.41 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 39 strikeouts in 33 2/3 innings. He's worth holding on fantasy rosters if it's at all possible.

Wed Jun 1 202221:36Sonny Gray Plays Catch, Uncertain For Next Start
Minnesota Twins pitcher Sonny Gray (pectoral) has improved and played catch on Wednesday, but his status for his next start is in question. According to Twins manager Rocco Baldelli, there is a chance Gray avoids the injured list. "May end up even having to make a decision that we don't really want to make in order to function better as a team," said Baldelli. The 32-year-old exited last Sunday's start with right pectoral soreness. If Gray can significantly improve during the week, the Twins right-hander could avoid the injured list. He owns a 3-1 record, 2.41 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 39 strikeouts across 33 2/3 innings. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the situation and expect Gray back this weekend at the earliest.

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Sonny Gray went seven scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts during a 2-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday. The two-time All-Star will look to keep the momentum going on Sunday at home against the Kansas City Royals.

Sun Apr 17 202212:16Sonny Gray Heading To Injured List
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Sonny Gray (hamstring) will go on the injured list and reliever Cody Stashak (biceps) will be activated from the injured list on Sunday. The Twins will roll with a five-man starting rotation with Gray sidelined. Gray left his start on Saturday after going just 1 2/3 innings due to tightness in his hamstring. The good news is that the 32-year-old's injury isn't considered serious, and the Twins expect Gray to miss only one start. In his first two starts in Minnesota, the right-hander has allowed four earned runs and five hits while walking three and striking out five through 6 1/3 frames. Hopefully, fantasy managers won't be without him for too long.

Sat Apr 16 202222:03Sonny Gray Day-to-Day With Hamstring Tightness
Minnesota Twins pitcher Sonny Gray (hamstring) is day-to-day with a tight hamstring. He exited Saturday's start early against the Boston Red Sox with a tight hamstring. The 32-year-old allowed two runs on one hit while striking out one over 1 2/3 innings before leaving. The right-hander's status for his next start is up in the air as the Twins will monitor his hamstring issue within the upcoming days. Gray owns a 5.68 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and five strikeouts across 6 1/3 frames in 2022. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the situation but have a backup plan in place if Gray can't make his next scheduled start.

Sun Mar 13 202214:04Sonny Gray Traded To The Twins
The Minnesota Twins have acquired starting pitcher Sonny Gray in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds. Gray and minor league pitcher Francis Peguero are heading to Minnesota in exchange for pitcher Chase Petty, who was a first round pick of the Twins in 2021. Gray will bring a much-needed veteran presence to a young Twins rotation. Last year, the 32-year-old started 26 games for the Reds and went 7-9 with a 4.19 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. His advance stats suggest he had some bad luck last year as he had an 84th percentile xERA (3.25). He was exceptional at limiting hard contact in 2021 with a 32.1% hard-hit rate (91st percentile) and a 4.7% barrel rate (92nd percentile). He'll be near the top of the Twins rotation and he may even have a shot at being the team's Opening Day starter.

Tue Nov 23 202112:39Reds Open To Trading Sonny Gray
The Cincinnati Reds are once again believed to be open to trading right-hander Sonny Gray this offseason, but they've indicated to rival executives that starters Tyler Mahle and Luis Castillo are off limits. Mahle and Castillo are both controllable through the 2023 season. Gray has a $10 million base salary next season and can be retained through a $12 million club option for the 2023 season. The veteran right-hander has a 3.49 ERA with a 10.6 K/9 in his three seasons with the Reds, but he recently turned 32 years old and was on the injured list three separate times with three separate injuries in 2021. Gray had a 4.19 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 155 strikeouts and 50 walks in 135 1/3 innings over his 26 starts last season.
