LHP Tyler Anderson (left knee) is scheduled to throw about 45 pitches Monday for Triple-A Albuquerque at Reno in a rehab outing and then rejoin the Rockies. Anderson threw 33 pitches in each of his first two rehab appearances with Albuquerque. He last pitched for the Rockies on June 25. The following day, Anderson was placed on the 10-day disabled list with left knee inflammation, and on July 3, Anderson underwent arthroscopic surgery to have the knee cleaned out. With the minor league seasons ending, there is not enough time for Anderson to build up his pitch count to start, so he will give the Rockies an additional bullpen arm when he is reinstated from the 60-day disabled list.

He threw 33 pitches, 26 strikes, Thursday in three scoreless innings, allowing one hit with no walks and four strikeouts.

LHP Tyler Anderson (left knee) is scheduled to throw three innings or 40-45 pitches Thursday in his second rehab start for Triple-A Albuquerque during his current stint on the disabled list and will have time to make a third rehab start for that club before its season ends Sept. 4. In his first rehab start for Albuquerque on Sunday, Anderson threw 33 pitches, 22 strikes, and gave up five hits and four runs in one inning with one walk and two strikeouts. There isn't enough time for Anderson to be built up to start in September, but the Rockies hope he will be able to be used for multiple innings in relief. Anderson, who last pitched for the Rockies on June 25, was place on the 10-day disabled list June 4 retroactive to June 1 with left knee inflammation. He was reinstated June 22 but again place on the 10-day disabled list June 26 with left knee inflammation and underwent surgery to have the knee cleaned out July 3.

Thu Aug 24 201704:03LHP Tyler Anderson threw three-inning simulated game
LHP Tyler Anderson threw a three-inning simulated game. "It went great," manager Buddy Black said. "Roughly 45-50 pitches. Arm felt good, knee felt good. This is more about, I think, the knee strength moving forward. His arm has felt pretty good all year. So, we've got to build his arm up to be able to go a few innings. But, I think the medical staff was more concerned about the strength of the knee and what it was and where it is now. All systems are go for Tyler moving forward here in the short term." He went on the disabled list June 26 with left knee inflammation.

LHP Tyler Anderson, who is on the 60-day disabled list, is scheduled to throw 35-40 pitches Thursday in his second bullpen session from 60 feet, 6 inches since undergoing left knee surgery July 3. Anderson, who last pitched for the Rockies on June 25, ideally will be able to begin a minor league rehab assignment about Sept. 1. Anderson went on the 10-day disabled list June 26 with left knee inflammation before having a clean-up procedure performed on the knee July 3.

Anderson is 3-5 with a 6.11 ERA in 13 games, including 12 starts. He last started June 25. Anderson was out from June 1-21 due to left knee inflammation. Anderson (elbow) is expected to compete for a spot in the Rockies' starting rotation next year, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
Elbow issues have kept Anderson out of action since last August, but GM Jeff Bridich implied Thursday that the lefty is on track to push for starting job in the spring. A first-round pick in 2011 (20th overall), Anderson posted a 1.98 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 106:40 K:BB with Double-A Tulsa last season en route to Texas League Pitcher of the Year honors.
Sat Jul 25 201508:39Anderson (elbow) has yet to throw off mound this season
Anderson (elbow) has yet to throw off a mound this season, Irv Moss of the Denver Post reports.
Expected to vie for a rotation spot with the big club out of spring training, Anderson was removed from the mix after his elbow never showed enough improvement following a bout with soreness at Double-A Tulsa last September. Since spring training, it seems as though he's continued to make limited progress, suggesting that surgery might eventually be a necessary option. Anderson will turn 26 in December, and time may be running out on his chances of placing himself in the Rockies' long-term plans.
Fri Jul 10 201519:23Anderson (elbow) transferred to 60-day disabled list on Friday
Anderson (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on Friday, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
It's a bit unclear where Anderson is at in his rehab process, but the move was likely just procedural to open up a spot on the 40-man roster.
Sat Jun 27 201510:42Zach Wilson
Zach Wilson, the Rockies' director of player development, confirmed that Anderson (elbow) remains idle at extended spring training, Irv Moss of the Denver Post reports.
Anderson has yet to resume throwing since being shut down last September due to his elbow, an issue that seems to be growing more concerning by the week. After compiling a 1.98 ERA and striking out 106 batters over 118.1 innings last season at Double-A Tulsa to claim Texas League Pitcher of the Year honors, Anderson had aspirations of claiming a rotation spot with the big club this season, but any hope of him surfacing with the Rockies in 2015 now appears to be remote. Due to the missed time, Anderson seems unlikely to pitch in the high minors until August even if he's cleared to begin throwing soon. He'll turn 26 in December and is nearing the stage of his career where he probably can't be considered a prospect of note any longer.

Anderson is still in extended spring training working on rehabbing his elbow injury, SB Nation's Andrew Martin reports.
The Rockies are obviously being careful with the 25-year-old southpaw, who has not pitched in a minor league game since last September when he was removed from an outing due to elbow soreness. If he can come back this season and establish that he is healthy, Anderson figures to be an option in the Rockies' rotation in 2016. When healthy he is a top-200 prospect in dynasty leagues, but considering the nature and uncertainty of his ailment he is a risky player to roster in such formats.
Tue Mar 17 201513:13Anderson (elbow) optioned to Rockies' minor league camp Monday
Anderson (elbow) was optioned to the Rockies' minor league camp Monday, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
Anderson hasn't thrown a pitch all spring while recovering from a stress fracture in his left elbow. Prior to suffering a setback with the injury, which he first sustained late last season, the left-hander was in the conversation for a rotation spot with the big club, albeit as a long shot. Though he likely won't be ready to go for the beginning of the minor-league season, expect Anderson, who earned Texas League Pitcher of the Year honors in 2014, to open the campaign at Triple-A Albuquerque.
Thu Jan 29 201517:51Anderson (elbow) will be limited participant in spring training
Anderson (elbow) will be a limited participant in spring training, the Denver Post reports.
Back in November, Rockies GM Jeff Bridich said Anderson wasn't at risk of missing the start of spring training, but the lefty's elbow simply has not improved as expected. The plan now is for Anderson to take part in pitchers' fielding practice and other activities at the start of camp, but he will not actually pitch. Doctors have recommended the Rockies take a conservative approach to Anderson's recovery.
